and the need FAQs and a central

Business Intelligence Issues and the need
for an enterprise reporting framework

experiences to enable learning like the

6. Modular Strategic Approach
This was not to considered an enterprise
wide SharePoint Development
Rather it is a modular approach to
implementing a new shop front – service
delivery platform
SharePoint Sprawl is emerging and the
Pitcher Partners approach allows for
consolidation
NAB currently has Academy from a HR
perspective ( which could be considered
another shop front)
As this is a BISC Initiative with a view to
expanding enterprise wide and way of
making this financial information easier to
access across NAB

The CIE for us was very much about the bigger strategy
We started to think about the modular strategy as a way to slowly deploy the SharePoint 2010 platform while migrating off the Lotus Notes solutions we have in place. You will see in the proof of concept that SharePoint is used as a layer to talk to Lotus notes applications. The Modular approach allows us to begin the journey in a slow fashion while still maintaining the legacy back-end but a modern user interface.
The Strategy here is about understand the users. Power Pivot gives the user an incredible amount of power. For example today we have performance issues with users where they tend to extract a large amount of data to expose it to excel for further analysis. This extract causes a lot of performance issues and users download a lot of unnecessary data. The view is to have better control and management of users behaviour.
Our strategy in introducing Self- Service BI will be about understanding the users. For example our Cube is currently hit by users who pull extracts out of it into excel dramatically effecting performance. The preference would be to only update the data that has changed rather than pulling a huge extract. So as we move to self-service BI we will focus on control and mgt of user behaviour in order to ensure better controls around the way data is accessed.
We spend a lot of time documenting project professional and the issue is it is difficult to find.
This will allow valuable IP to be more readily available.
