One evening Mr Jumbo, the famous detective and his assistant, a small little elephant Jolly were enjoying a cup of coffee at Jumbo's house.Jumbois
a really great detective. But nowadays he is little old and likes to relax in his house at Elephantine road. Suddenly, he got a phone call and it was from

SET IT OFF Essay
Kate Lanier and Takashi Bufford the writers of film "SET IT OFF" movie debut in 1996. The setting for the movie took place in Los Angeles
California. Bufford and Lanier sole purpose in creating the movie "SET IT OFF" was to resonated with people of color; showing the chemistry and
relationship of four African–American women coming together as they face adversity. This was also the first movie of its kind featured four women.
Takashi Bufford is known for writing such movies as "House Party 3" and "Booty Call," both of these movies resonated very strongly with growing up
in the urban American community. Although, the writers did not justify a good reason for the women turning tocrime, people have turned to crime and

People sometimes kill themselves when these types of things happen, considering they were already under tremendous stress or barely making it.
The movie conveyed a lot of passion and strength, as the women looked out for one another. I get from this movie is when people work together they
can do anything; with the effort place on robbing a bank, they could have worked together to start their own janitorial service. The weakness is seeing
someone commit a crime and get away with it, gave them the idea of robbing banks, that ultimately lead them to killing and being killed. "Crime does

how to recognize certain characteristics on the customers that they come into contact with, how to cooperate with the robbers to ensure their safety
and the safety of those around them, and how to secure a crime scene will aid in the prevention of a robbery or in the capture of a robber. Most of
the training materials used at Union Bank of California are out of date and must be updated in order to relate to the employees of today. Many things

Barber Shop Chronicles, The Treatment Of A Bank Robbery,...
Barber Shop Chronicles, The Treatment, The Comedy About a Bank Robbery, and HIR all have two things in common: the search for the truth and
how it changes the perception of the world around the characters. The main conflict in all four of these plays deal with characters discovering a truth
that changes their perception. Some for the better like in Barber Shop Chronicles and The Comedy About a Bank Robbery. Others for the worst such as
in The Treatment and HIR. In Barber Shop Chronicles, the main character of Samuel discovers that his father is less than perfect. Thus, changing the
perception, he had of his father being holier than thou and lessening his seething grudge against his father's friend Emmanuel, who taken over his

It always took me a couple of seconds to figure if this was a new character or an previously introduced character. The costume design did help
distinguish each character even when the actor fall short. Because all the action happens on the same day, all the recurring characters wear the same
costume throughout the play and each new character was dressed is a new costume as well. For example, when actor Sule Rimi, who played three

To What Extent Did Frank Commit The Crime Of Attempted...
Did Frank commit the crime of bank robbery? At what point, if any, did Frank commit the crime of attempted bank robbery? If the cashier had no
money, would that fact be a valid defense to the attempted robbery? Why?
In criminal law, an attempted robbery occurs when there is an undertaking to commit an act which includes preparation but does not result in the
successful completion of the act (Falk, 2010). In the case of Frank, there are substantial efforts that he puts in place in abed to rob the bank. Frank does
not commit the offense of bank robbery but that of attempted bank robbery. After looking over the First city bank, he goes to his storage and
removes his old pistol and even bought shells for it. He then prepares a note and goes into the bank with a mask. It is only after the siren goes off
that he runs off. This clearly shows that frank was prepared to carry out the act and went to all lengths to prepare to commit the offense. It would not
be a valid defense if the cashier had no money because while committing the offense frank was unaware of this fact. He was armed and willing to
commit the crime.

Chapter 4 of the elements of crime states that a defendant does not commit attempt by plotting or planning an offense (Aspen Publishers, 2010). There
is an extension that dictates that mere preparation is not enough to constitute the attempt criminal act element. However, the crux of any attempt is
how close to completing the offense the defendant must get to fulfill the attempt criminal act requirement (Neubauer & Fradella, 2013). Jurisdictions
use the four tests which include the proximity test, res ipsa loquitur test, probable desistance test and the model penal code's substantial steps test

Bad Life Of John Dillinger
John Dillinger once said, "All my life I wanted to be a bank robber. Carry a gun and wear a mask. Now that it's happened I guess I'm just about the
best bank robber they ever had. And I sure am happy." John Dillinger started his life with a traumatizing event that led him to commiting crimes at a
young age. Since he was used to breaking the law he was doing this all throughout his life either by himself or with his gang, without a second
thought. John Dillinger was a misunderstood criminal of the nineteen thirties because of his mother's death he acted out at a young age causing him to
be neglected by his dad. Since he was neglected he had to steal in order to survive making him used to commiting crimes.

No matter whether or not the gang did commit a crime, they were accused for most things that broke the law all over the country, even if they
didn't do it. The gang was setup to be captured at a drive in movie theater and then later arrested after Dillinger, the leader of the group, was
included in a shootout killing a police officer (Ryan, 2017). After they were brought to prison, after about three months Dillinger faked his way out
of prison, telling guards that a piece of wood shaped like a gun was real. It was later found out that John Dillinger's lawyers bribed the guards to let
him free using the gun as an excuse (Ryan, 2017). During the Dillinger Gangs run of robberies they stole over one hundred thousand dollars and
wounded or killed many people(Ryan, 2017). Once he escaped the government had never wanted any outlaw more than him. Citizens of the United
States were sent into a craze looking for Dillinger and his gang, only wanting the reward of fifteen thousand dollars to find him (Stuttman, 1994).

Bullet in the Brain
Bullet in the Brain is a short story about a sarcastic book critic, who allows his criticism to extend to his everyday life and soon learns why that is not
a good idea.
Anders is known for "the weary elegant savagery with which he dispatched almost everything he reviewed." He is portrayed as especially
unsympathetic. He is standing in line at a bank and gets stuck behind two women whose loud stupid conversations put him in an angry mood. He
engages in sarcastic, belittling repartee with the women when a robbery occurs. Two men wearing black ski masks are standing on the side of the
door. He can not resist making an acid comment about the language of the robber when one of the robbers threatens the teller that she'll be dead meat
if she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anders is strangely aroused, elated by these final words, their pure unexpectedness and their music. This is in contrast to the robber's language, which
is slang, crude and inauthentic. The robber is portrayed as sensitive and self– absorbed with a strong persecution complex and murderous temper. The
robber is also stupid and heartless. He could have just knocked down Anders with a pistol so as not to attract the cops. Instead he shoots him.
The style of eliciting non–memory and memory emphasises the lost of innocence of childhood and of life lived in contrast with life wasted, and the
disillusionment that followed leading to his insensitivity and ultimate self–destruction. This information is expository, but it flashes back to Anders'
past. The author uses effectively the flashback to provide another viewpoint of the central character because Anders was pictured as unsympathetic in
the beginning of the story. The memory itself, fittingly, is narrated in present tense in contrast with most of the story

The Bank Robbery By Steven Schutzman Summary
The Bank Of Affection Love; it's a strange and peculiar concept to the human mind. It has the power to affect one's persona drastically; it may make
the meekest individual strong and the most ardent person frail. Many falsely accuse the power of endearment with a misnomer, often referred to as
lust. The term lust is defined as an intense desire. Between the crosshairs of love and lust, lies an entity that is commonly seen in many folly
love–struck youth. This strange facet of endearment is best exemplified in the flash fiction story The Bank Robbery, written by Steven Schutzman. The
short story portrays the surprisingly bizarre, but tender, sense of affection between a bank robber and a young bank teller. Through the usage of similes,
metaphors, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The eerie affinity between the two counterparts is best exemplified by the various types of figurative language used by Steven Schutzman. Schutzman
states "the teller, a young woman of about twenty five, felt the lights of her streets go on for the first time" (Schutzman 1), evidently describing the
emotional impact the robber had on the teller. Figuratively, this statement is an implicit comparison between the lights that had lined her streets and the
teller's discovery of love. This statement also foreshadows the creation of a turbulent relationship between the two counterparts, since it depicts a "love
at first sight" moment that conclusively suggests that the folly lovers will base their romance on short–term desires rather than true love. In the
eleventh paragraph, the robber is seen stating "Ah money...you are just like love" (Schutzman 1) , evidently proving his lustful adoration towards
materialistic facets. Schutzman implies, through this statement, that this is an example of a metaphor, since it is an explicit comparison between
money and love. The author uses this metaphor, in order to epitomize the evident unstable romance that is created between the bank robber and the
teller. This statement indirectly implies the fact that the relationship between the two counterparts is formed due to their lustful momentary desires. In

Fun with Dick and Jane Essay
"Fun with Dick and Jane" (2005)
Starring: Jim Carrey, Tea Leoni, and Alec Baldwin
In need of some light hearted entertainment and a good laugh, I chose the movie "Fun with Dick and Jane" for this assignment. "Fun with Dick
and Jane" asks the common question, "What is the difference between a corporate crook and a bank robber?" The movie opens with Dick leaving
his home in the picture perfect neighborhood in the year 2000. Dick is married to Jane and they have a son who is more or less being raised by the
housekeeper, Blanca. The family is living in a culture of high powered, high paying jobs, high tech appliances and high stress living. Dick and Jane
have it all and they can't get enough of it.
The first ethical issue that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This movie provides sarcastic contradictions about morality and the ethics of crime. For one short–lived moment, Dick contemplates prostituting Jane
for income but of course because this is a light hearted comedy Jane becomes furious with this suggestion. Not long after her outrage she turns to
burglary willingly. Burglary, just likeprostitution, is illegal, immoral, and demoralizing. Unlike prostitution, which is a misdemeanor, burglary is a
felony. These two criminals are portrayed as good people just trying to feed their son and keep their house, yet the same "good guys" in the audience
who would frown on prostitution, enthusiastically support burglary as a practical comedic maneuver. Yet, if Dick and Jane are on the path of
immorality, as conveyed by their society's parameters, they might as well have went with prostitution as a way to make money. With Jane being such
an amazing looking woman, she could have easily earned thousands of dollars a day escorting swanky businessmen, thus attaining the goal of quick
cash less unlawfully.
The movie snidely communicates to us that dressing up as Sonny and Cher to commit armed robbery, or taking your neighbor's car and driving it
through a jewelry store window is less shameful than selling your body. The definition of robbery is "the act of robbing from a person or presence of
another by violence or threat" which is considered a felony; prostituting or escorting

Why Bank Robberies Have Increased Since 1994
I found an article that conducted a study to find why bank robberies have increased since 1994. The focus of the study was focused to the Chicago
Police Department and the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) where the use of statistics of bank robbers, interviewing bank
robbers, and determining what kind of security measures and security equipment was been used, the gathering of the information was used to gain
insight into bank robbery (Carrol & Loch, (1997).
The study first focused on basic information of bank robberies, by using records that the FBI kept when investing bank robbery scenes. This information
was very helpful in determining the trends of bank robbers; the investigators gave suggestions to institutions on how to create better security measures.
The investigator took all the FBI reports and placed them into a database for future reference (Carrol & Loch, (1997).
The investigator wanted to learn what motivated bank robbers so they interviewed offenders either in federal or local correctional institutes. They
have currently interviewed five offenders, varying from robbers who passed notes to armed single robbers to a group or gang robberies. They found
that robbers would avoid certain banks do to security systems; investigator also learned how offenders planned robberies. They found that all
offenders interviewed would be deterred from robbing a bank if there were uniformed security present. The offenders were aware of the dye packs and

I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak
Markus Zusak's I Am the Messenger
Many issues can influence the development of an author's novel. Maybe the author wants to focus on historical matters, and place historical references
into their novel. Maybe social concerns are the topic in their novel. Or maybe the author intends for their novel to be a political work. Regardless of
what sort of influence they consider placing into their novel, all authors do tend to allow one thing to influence their writing, their own personalities and
personal knowledge. Creating a novel comes from within an author's personality and experiences and naturally forms their story. Biographical influence
is noticeable in the character of Ed as in Markus Zusak's I Am the Messenger.
The location in which someone grew up and got an education often has a massive impact on how that person develops. Where you are dictates who
your friends are, what school you attend, what job you get, and even who you might marry. Zusak grew up in Australia and still lives there currently.
Though I Am the Messenger is not directly stated to take place in Australia, Zusak made quite clear during an interview that took place between him
and the blog Yapping About Young Adult. In this interview, Zusak states that I Am the Messenger is "very Australian . . . Australians like to argue with
each other, usually in a friendly sort of way" ("Interview With Author Markus Zusak," n.p.). This clearly shows that Zusak's work, and the development
of the characters is

Humorous Stories: The Great Taos Bank Robbery And Full Circle
Humorous Mystery Stories Humorous stories are the best kind of mystery stories. They are way better than casual mystery stories because they
fill the story with life and make it more fun to read. There are many reasons why they are better but here are the top three reasons. Irony, full of
suspense, and how the characters act. Here is three humorous mystery stories "The Utterly Perfect Murder", "The Great Taos Bank Robbery", and
"Full Circle. First is going to be irony is the three stories, the best thing in stories. There are two types of irony in these stories they are verbal and
situational. "The Great Taos Bank Robbery" has both types or irony but the one that is discussed is situational. One is when the two robbers dress as

The suspense in all of theses humorous mystery stories is very very well written. For example in "The Great Taos Bank Robbery" the bank robbers
are hiding in a fort and someone finds them and the first thing you think they are going to do is call the cops but instead they give the robbers food
and hospitality. Not only does this fill your body with suspense but it is completely unexpected and is a huge plot twist. However is "The Utterly
Perfect Murder" thing go a little different for example when Doug knocks on his childhood's bullys house we didn't know if his wife would come
out of a complete stranger but it was the bully who opened the door. Then when Doug was suppose to pull the real gun out and kill he he points his
finger at the bully and says "Bang" six times then disappears. Doug wantee to kill his bully because he put him thru hell during school and acted like
Doug's friend but in reality he minulupuated him. In addition "Full Circle" has suspense too, an example of suspense in this story is when the
detective arrives at the suspects house and the suspect decides to speed away. And the detective and the suspect were in an intense race then the

Robert Merton 's Deviance And Control
Robert Merton was a well educated individual big on learning societies focus and concerns, his career as a criminal theorist initiated at his start as a

the American Dream "wealth" as a mean to commit crimes trying to achieve the "goal". In every city we could map out the social groups by crime
rates and incident rates Nichols, Lawrence a sociologist explained "Robert K. Merton gained renown as a distinguished sociologist, especially in

The purpose of a person can determine how strong his will and his border lines are for achieving the wants. Some are so willing and mentally strong
that they become their only turning point meaning only they could stop themselves. Obviously, a lot does still matter on the environment. How he
determined one 's means and goals was by using the adaptation chart, explaining 5 different sections involving the ways individuals looked at goals
and means. The first section was labeled as "conformity", being the least to commit crime that's where a large amount of the population would be
considered part of. Conformity is accepting the means and goals which meant that these people were the hard workers working hard to achieve the
wealth needed. These folks know it takes that extra mile to achieve wealth the right way but doesn 't mind it, this involves higher education and
dedication. Another way to explain would be showing your acceptance in means to accomplish your conformity in society. The second classification is
the innovators, they accept the goals and reject the means. This group understands that wealth is important but their means to achieve it are not. Their
opinion in education and hard work has nothing to do with achieving wealth, meaning that any form of income legal or illegal doesn't bother them.
This thinking process is where we see deviant behavior come to surface, this category is affected by the environment and having access to those illegal

A Short Story : The Streetwalker
"Why?"
"For being a bitch."
Harvey smiled a little. "It's low blood sugar. Happens all the time."
She looked him over and small frown lines formed between her eyebrows.
"I was shot this afternoon during a bank robbery."
The Streetwalker paused, ginger ale halfway to her lips.
"Oh...my...God..." her voice trailed off and he opened his eyes to see her measuring the distance from the chair to the door.
"I wasn't the bank robber."
She sat back with a thump.
"Oh."
He yawned until his jaw cracked. He scratched the top of his head with his good hand and ruffled his hair. He imagined with the ruffled hair and faint
scruff he had grown over the last couple of days, he was looking pretty mangy. No wonder she was as nervous as she was. He probably did look like a
bank robber.
"I guess that's why you don't want to deal with the police anymore."
He snorted.
"Like I said, it's been a long forty–eight hours." He stretched his legs. "I don't mean to be rude, but I really need to crash."
She nodded, "Oh, yeah. I'm sorry." A light blush crept over her cheeks and she looked away awkwardly. "Thank you, by the way. For everything."
Harvey smiled, "You're welcome. There's a sparetoothbrush and paste in the bag. Help yourself."

Former cop, Mr. Bull,l knew that the police of New York City were on their lunch break. So, Mr.Bull made a tough decision to stop the robbery by
himself. He ripped off his brand new black leather jacket and stormed into the bank with fury radiating from his face. He was too late, the crime had

Hours after the incident Mr.Bull was filling out a police report on what he had witnessed. The police questioned him, "What did you see happen at the
bank?" Mr. Bull went into great detail on the events he had observed, but the cops couldn't figure out how the criminal got away so fast. Mr.Bull

who moved to Elmore, a small town in Arkansas, looking for a fresh start. He changed his name and fell in love with the bank owner's daughter.
Valentine had a detective looking for him, the detective's name is Ben Price. Jimmy was going to give up his robbing bank tools so he would be

He changed his name when he first came to town so the cops would not be able to find him also so no one would suspect he was a robber. This
argument is invalid because the detective Ben Price found Jimmy and thought that he was a changed man so Ben did not arrest him. In the letter
Jimmy lied about going to Little Rock to give away his tools he actually was going to rob another bank. There is no evidence to support that Jimmy
was going to Little Rock to rob another bank. Finally Jimmy did not change for Annabel he only acted different so she would like Jimmy and he
would be able to get close to the bank to rob it. Jimmy fell in love with Annabel the first time he saw her, Annabel thought fondly of him so Jimmy was
not only acting different to rob the bank. All of these arguments can not be supported by evidence so Jimmy was able to change.
Since Jimmy Valentine wanted to change for his fiance, was going to give away his bank robbing tools and changed his name so he could have a
fresh start, Jimmy Valentine is a new, changed man. Jimmy Valentine did receive a fresh start he opened his own shoe shop, the shoe shop

Essay about John Dillinger
On June 22nd 1903 John Herbert Dillinger was born to John and Mollie Dillinger . His parents ran and owned a grocery store in Indianapolis, Indiana,
and at the age of three his mother died . John Dillinger's father described his son as a "restless and aggressive" child . Beginning from a young age, the
dark side of Dillinger became evident, as he created and led a gang called 'The Dirty Dozen' . The worst criminal act the 'Dirty Dozen' participated in
consisted of stealing coal from the nearby railroad . As Dillinger grew older, so did the intensity of his crimes. In his teenage years Dillinger stole a
car to impress a girl, and when caught he fled to the navy. According to John he was "discharged" from the navy, but records say he... Show more

Jail did not alter only Dillinger, but also altered other criminals who he bonded with throughout his stay. Together they started to create an escape
plan. These men later mentored him in the form of robbing banks. Harry Pierpont, Eddie Green, Homer Van Meter, Charles Makley, Walter
Dietrich, John Hamilton, and Russell Clark all influenced Dillinger, and after their escape from jail they joined his gang . Dillinger's completed
gang included these men and also John "Red" Hamilton, Tommy Carroll, "Baby Face" Nelson, Pat Reilly, Russell "Boobie" Clark, Ed Shouse,
Harry Copeland, William Shaw, and Noble Claycomb . One of the men, Harry Pierpoint, especially became a major influence on John. The two
became close throughout their stay in jail, and worked together in later crimes . After his parole in May of 1933, Dillinger entered into a broken
country and he soon capitalized on the situation by allegedly freeing his gang from jail, and soon after he robbed his first bank in Ohio stealing
$10,600 . Over the course of the next four months Dillinger robbed five Ohio and Indiana banks. Towards the end of 1933, the police arrested him
in his most recent residence in Ohio . Returning the favor, his new gang helped John breakout in October of 1933 . It did not take long for Dillinger
to start trouble again, just eleven days after his escape, he and his gang robbed Central National bank in Illinois taking $75,000 . He robbed his next

Social Learning Theory : Social Theory
Social Learning Theory
Social learning theory determines that an individual learn as they move along their cognitive process(Bandura,1963). Such person studied the context
of social structure, interaction, and situation produces when committing a crime. Similarly as rational choice theory, they weight the cost and reward
before conducting the crime, yet there has been a long period of time of learning for the individual with social learning theory. He or she is more
likely to be exposed to a person or symbolically to justify the act of crime, and define it as a desirable or a right behavior(Akers, 1998). There is a
high likelihood that the individual 's close family members or friends are involved with criminal activities, or is motivated to commit crime by
media violence, including movies, television, Internet, literature, and radio. The person has already got a a criminal nature before they actually
committed the crime,. If a person, as a child, has been traveled in car with his parents, it is very likely for him to learn how to drive a car when he
reaches adulthood(Jeffery, 1965). Similarly, if the person learn the skill and knowledge from their family member, he or she could execute them well
later in their crimes.

If the training material is boring and dry more then likely your employees are not going to be engaged and will walk away from the training session
dazed and confused. Banking industries use many different kinds of training. The most effective training is the training that is outsourced. This gives
the employee someone else's view on the subject compared to your supervisor who you see on a daily basis. The banking industry has discovered that
when they outsource their training programs they receive a bigger response from the employees. The overall benefits are much higher then any other
type of training. People learn by doing, nobody learns much by listening or reading only. So lecture training is not welcomed. The most commonly
used method for transferring information in education today is the lecture. Lecturing is all about the presenter and not the student. The banking
industry has found that when training is presented in a form of a lecture many people seem to nod off or doodle on their notepad instead of listening.
This is a waste of time and money. Interaction is the key. Types of interaction include employee
–to–employee interaction, employee–to–supervisor
interactions, and supervisor–to–supervisor interaction. The more interaction there is in the organization, the better the learning. When employees
interact with each other they are forced to use the information, moving the information into their long term memory, and retaining it for

Essay about Crime
Crime
In general the definition of a crime is an act punishable by law, usually considered an evil act. Crime refers to many types of misconduct forbidden
by law. Crimes include such things as murder, stealing a car, resisting arrest, possession or dealing of illegal drugs, being nude in public , drunk
driving, and bank robbery. Crime is an act that has been timeless and has been committed practically since the start of time. For example, ever since
Cain killed his brother Abel (B.C.), people being charged with witchcraft in the 1600's, prostitution, to the current crimes of modern day(A.D.). Even
though crime has existed throughout time it has progressed and branched out taking many types forms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Crimes are frequently classified according to their seriousness as felonies or misdemeanors. Generally, felonies are more serious than misdemeanors.
Under the federal criminal law system, felonies are crimes for which the punishment is death or imprisonment for more than a year. Amisdemeanor is
punishable by a fine or by imprisonment for less than a year. In most states persons convicted of felonies are sent to state prisons, while those guilty of
misdemeanors serve their sentence in city, or county jails, or correction houses.
Crimes against people include assault, kidnapping, murder, and sexual attacks. Such crimes usually bring severe punishments. Crimes against property
include arson, automobile theft, burglary, embezzlement, forgery, fraud, larceny, and vandalism. In most cases, these crimes carry lighter penalties
than the crimes set against the person. Robbery is the crime most difficult to classify. The law considers robbery a crime against the person or against
the property, according to the case. Robbery may involve simply stealing property from another person, but when a personal encounter occurs between
the robber and his victim, it may include violence and bodily harm. This usually occurs during muggings or other strong–arm robberies.

Verbal Overhadowing Inaccuracies
Societies across the United States are comprised of many culturally diverse people. Each and every individual possesses a distinct perception that
differs from one another of events that have transpired. For most people that desire to achieve a career in law enforcement, they depend heavily on
accurate, detailed eyewitness testimonials on a daily basis to apprehend the correct perpetrator that had committed a crime. In fact, law officials
frequently inquire about precise and dependable depictions from bystanders within the community, as their ability to accurately identify the perpetrator

The study was conducted to demonstrate the magnitude and effect of verbal overshadowing between delayed and immediate description retrieval
conditions (Alonga et al., 1990). In the first condition, the manipulation consisted of participants that were given an immediate description task
following the video of the perpetrator committing a crime (Alonga et al., 1990). In the second condition, manipulation consisted of participants that
were given 20 minute–delayed description tasks of the perpetrator committing a crime (Alonga et al., 1990). Results indicate that the participants in the
immediate description tasks were 4% less likely to select the correct perpetrator in a police line up; whereas, participants in the 20–minute delayed

Terrorism : Terrorism And Terrorism
Question 1: Define and give examples of what terrorism is and the associated risks involved for emergency responders. Terrorism is the use of
violence and threats against civilian populations to further ones political or religious beliefs. The more frightened we are, the more successful
terrorists will judge their attacks (Newman & Clarke, 2008). Terrorists will use many different attack methods to strike fear into civilian
populations. One of the most polarizing terrorists events in U.S. history was the 9/11 attack where aircraft were used to destroy the twin towers in
New York, causing more than 3000 civilians to lose their lives. In other terrorist events, attackers have used firearms, explosive devices, and even
vehicles to carry out their attacks. The San Bernardino attack that took place on December 2nd, 2015, involved the use of firearms and explosive
devices. Due to the nature of terrorist attacks and then methods they use to carry out the attacks, first responders will encounter many different risks
when responding to a terrorist event. One of those risks is the fact that terrorists can and have used explosive devices that fit into small bags and
suitcases. Most experts agree that terrorists can easily plant a suitcase bomb, containing a radiological dispersal device, into of our large cities
(Newman Clarke, 2008). Trying to determine where a terrorist is going to strike with this type of device can be hard to determine and thus create

When someone is pushed against a wall, the potential to detonate is high. Everyone have their limits; however, this does not validate the right to go
around shooting and killing people. Even though there are times that the burden might seem too hard to bear, there are always other avenues to
consider. Sometimes there are fundamental issues that might affect individuals that cause them to ignite. The existing state of the economy has
definitely affected people in a negative manner. There have been a considerable amount of lay–offs due to the current recession. This in itself can affect
someone's state of mind and cause them to retaliate against a company. People are at their boiling points and have no outlet or means of income.

The real issue in criminal subject jurisdiction is whether the charges should be pursued by federal or state law. In the event that the charges affirm an
infringement of federal Criminal Law, the respondent will be attempted in a federal court that is situated in the state in which the offense was

that almost everyone has heard, even though he has been dead for over one hundred years. (Defeat n. pg.) Now, although Jesse James was a
traditional outlaw in many respects, his legend perseveres as an icon of American culture. When the Civil War began, Jesse had to watch his older

Jesse James made a bank in Gallatin, Missouri as his first target. The man who had killed Bill Anderson, the leader of his old gang, ran this bank. On
December 7, 1869, Jesse and Frank rode in during broad daylight, shot an unarmed employee, and left with some worthless paper. They made an
escape through the midst of a posse sent to capture them. The brothers later declared that they would never be taken alive. The Gallatin robbery
essentially set the pattern for more robberies to come. It was risky, it was daring, and it had a hidden agenda other than simple robbery. In this case it
was the killing of the man who had hunted down Jesse's old leader. (Stiles 61)
After that, for the first time ever, the newspapers mentioned Jesse James. He loved the attention. James became involved with an ex–Confederate
shortly thereafter. He was also a newspaper editor. His name was John Newman Edwards. Jesse used this to his advantage, making a myth of
himself as almost a hero of the South. His myth was very similar to that of Robin Hood. In his case, he was a hero who helped poor Missourians
that were hurt by radical Republicans. In letters that Edwards published, Jesse would claim innocence for specific crimes. "We are not thieves," he
wrote, "we are bold robbers. I am proud of the name, for Alexander the Great was a bold robber, and Julius Caesar, and Napoleon Bonaparte."(Death n.

Literary Analysis OfBullet In The Brain, By Tobias Wolff
Do not laugh at the man with the gun, you will get a bullet in the brain
The short story, "Bullet in the brain, by Tobias Wolff," Is told through third person narration, the narrator has unlimited omniscience. The protagonist
is Ander's, He is suffering from ennui and alienation. Ander's seems to have distanced himself from others and created his own reality in his head
instead of the world around him; causing the world around him to become like a story. Which he despises because of his line of work, a book critic.
While doing so he constantly criticizes the world around him as if it is a story and ends up getting killed in the process. Through tone, setting, and style
the author, Tobias Wolff, created a wonderful short story that compares to no other.
The tone of the story is annoyed, the author, Tobias Wolff, makes the atmosphere while you read seem as if you are disgusted with the other characters
in the story. It is as if the tone of the short story is making fun of all the other characters involved. It made the author of this analysis feel like laughing
in a condescending manner. The protagonist, Ander's is a book critic in the short story, and it is as he has disconnected from reality, or has created his
own in his mind. That the real reality is only a poorly written book that he must criticize as such. While doing so, he plays with death, making fun
of the robber for his poor and clichГ© choice of words instead of fearing for his life when the robber has a gun to his head threatening his life. A
good example of Ander's mockery is, "Anders burst out laughing. He covered his mouth with both hands and said, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," then snorted
helplessly through his fingers and said, " Capiche – oh, God, capiche," (Wolff, 247)
The obvious antagonists in the story is the robbers whom take Ander's life. Really it was only the robber with a sawed off shot gun, the other
robber is a flat character and is only used as filler. Having only one line and no description what so ever. The only character in the entire short story
that has many lines, and a little back story is Ander's and its only after he is dead that the reader learns anything more about him than that he is a book
critic. It was not until he had a

Summary Of ' All Sound Dies '
Story
All sound dies when my 8 month old daughter, Lisa, stops crying and sleeps. We sit in silence for a while, watching as the streetlights turn on past
us. My wife, Mika is sitting to my right. She's just begging someone, anyone to spark a conversation. The driver is probably exhausted from yuppie
businessmen who insist on a better route and have the indecency to yell their business lingo into their phones. I know that feeling. My publisher is
giving me grief for not having any good ideas. I've created a town, but not much else.
That I'm aware of.
The driver looks a tad too young for this job. His hair is dark, his skin is tanned, and judging by a several second glance at his rear view mirror, his
eyes are dark brown, just like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Do you have a little one in your life?"
"Oh god no. People my age shouldn't have little ones in our lives."
Good. At least I know you can make good decisions.
"But I wish my father was like you, sir. "
The driver goes on. He talks about a man. A drunk, but a quiet, complacent drunk. Someone who aspired for more. Someone who wanted to take his
family somewhere and never look back. But it 's someone who couldn't get his life together and has cursed his son to follow in his footsteps.
Poor bloke. Where could he possibly end up in this story?
Sounds good. I think I'll write that down.
When we arrive, the meter says twenty seventy five. I hand Mika my wallet and I step out, walking to the other side of the car to open her door. She
gives him twenty five and tells him to keep the change.
"Thanks for the lift. And don't worry so much about your father. I'm sure he'll be fine."
The driver seems genuinely touched. But I think 'daddy' is lucky to be alive for this long.
***
Mika and I stroll through the park on the main street of town. While Mika is pushing Lisa in the stroller, I'm enjoying a pleasant single cone
strawberry ice cream and holding our lunch. Fish and chips for us, yoghurt and a banana for Lisa. Mika isn't in the mood for ice cream and it's a
shame that Lisa can't have any.
Mika spots a familiar face out in the distance. I look around and see a young man with an old, black dog, both enjoying ice

Barber Shop Chronicles, The Treatment, The Comedy About a Bank Robbery, and HIR all have two things in common: the search for the truth and how it changes the perception of the world around the characters. The main conflict in all four of these plays deal with characters discovering a truth that changes their perception. If the cashier had no money, would that fact be a valid defense to the attempted robbery? Why? In criminal law, an attempted robbery occurs when there is an undertaking to commit an act which includes preparation but does not result in the successful completion of the act (Falk, 2010). In the case of Frank, there are substantial efforts that he puts in place in abed to rob the bank. Frank does not commit the offense of bank robbery but that of attempted bank robbery. After looking over the First city bank, he goes to his storage and removes his old pistol and even bought shells for it. He then prepares a note and goes into the bank with a mask. It is only after the siren goes off that he runs off. This clearly shows that frank was prepared to carry out the act and went to all lengths to prepare to commit the offense. It would not be a valid defense if the cashier had no money because while committing the offense frank was unaware of this fact. He was armed and willing to commit the crime. After they were brought to prison, after about three months Dillinger faked his way out of prison, telling guards that a piece of wood shaped like a gun was real. It was later found out that John Dillinger's lawyers bribed the guards to let him free using the gun as an excuse (Ryan, 2017). • 8. Bullet in the Brain Bullet in the Brain is a short story about a sarcastic book critic, who allows his criticism to extend to his everyday life and soon learns why that is not a good idea. Anders is known for "the weary elegant savagery with which he dispatched almost everything he reviewed." He is portrayed as especially unsympathetic. He is standing in line at a bank and gets stuck behind two women whose loud stupid conversations put him in an angry mood. He engages in sarcastic, belittling repartee with the women when a robbery occurs. Two men wearing black ski masks are standing on the side of the door. He can not resist making an acid comment about the language of the robber when one of the robbers threatens the teller that she'll be dead meat if she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anders is strangely aroused, elated by these final words, their pure unexpectedness and their music. This is in contrast to the robber's language, which is slang, crude and inauthentic. The robber is portrayed as sensitive and self– absorbed with a strong persecution complex and murderous temper. The robber is also stupid and heartless. He could have just knocked down Anders with a pistol so as not to attract the cops. Instead he shoots him. The style of eliciting non–memory and memory emphasises the lost of innocence of childhood and of life lived in contrast with life wasted, and the disillusionment that followed leading to his insensitivity and ultimate self–destruction. This information is expository, but it flashes back to Anders' past. The author uses effectively the flashback to provide another viewpoint of the central character because Anders was pictured as unsympathetic in the beginning of the story. The memory itself, fittingly, is narrated in present tense in contrast with most of the story ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Bank Robbery By Steven Schutzman Summary The Bank Of Affection Love; it's a strange and peculiar concept to the human mind. It has the power to affect one's persona drastically; it may make the meekest individual strong and the most ardent person frail. Many falsely accuse the power of endearment with a misnomer, often referred to as lust. The term lust is defined as an intense desire. Between the crosshairs of love and lust, lies an entity that is commonly seen in many folly love–struck youth. This strange facet of endearment is best exemplified in the flash fiction story The Bank Robbery, written by Steven Schutzman. The short story portrays the surprisingly bizarre, but tender, sense of affection between a bank robber and a young bank teller. Through the usage of similes, metaphors, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The eerie affinity between the two counterparts is best exemplified by the various types of figurative language used by Steven Schutzman. Schutzman states "the teller, a young woman of about twenty five, felt the lights of her streets go on for the first time" (Schutzman 1), evidently describing the emotional impact the robber had on the teller. Figuratively, this statement is an implicit comparison between the lights that had lined her streets and the teller's discovery of love. This statement also foreshadows the creation of a turbulent relationship between the two counterparts, since it depicts a "love at first sight" moment that conclusively suggests that the folly lovers will base their romance on short–term desires rather than true love. In the eleventh paragraph, the robber is seen stating "Ah money...you are just like love" (Schutzman 1) , evidently proving his lustful adoration towards materialistic facets. Schutzman implies, through this statement, that this is an example of a metaphor, since it is an explicit comparison between money and love. The author uses this metaphor, in order to epitomize the evident unstable romance that is created between the bank robber and the teller. This statement indirectly implies the fact that the relationship between the two counterparts is formed due to their lustful momentary desires. In order ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fun with Dick and Jane Essay "Fun with Dick and Jane" (2005) Starring: Jim Carrey, Tea Leoni, and Alec Baldwin In need of some light hearted entertainment and a good laugh, I chose the movie "Fun with Dick and Jane" for this assignment. "Fun with Dick and Jane" asks the common question, "What is the difference between a corporate crook and a bank robber?" The movie opens with Dick leaving his home in the picture perfect neighborhood in the year 2000. Dick is married to Jane and they have a son who is more or less being raised by the housekeeper, Blanca. For one short–lived moment, Dick contemplates prostituting Jane for income but of course because this is a light hearted comedy Jane becomes furious with this suggestion. Not long after her outrage she turns to burglary willingly. Burglary, just likeprostitution, is illegal, immoral, and demoralizing. Unlike prostitution, which is a misdemeanor, burglary is a felony. These two criminals are portrayed as good people just trying to feed their son and keep their house, yet the same "good guys" in the audience who would frown on prostitution, enthusiastically support burglary as a practical comedic maneuver. Yet, if Dick and Jane are on the path of immorality, as conveyed by their society's parameters, they might as well have went with prostitution as a way to make money. With Jane being such an amazing looking woman, she could have easily earned thousands of dollars a day escorting swanky businessmen, thus attaining the goal of quick cash less unlawfully. The movie snidely communicates to us that dressing up as Sonny and Cher to commit armed robbery, or taking your neighbor's car and driving it through a jewelry store window is less shameful than selling your body. The definition of robbery is "the act of robbing from a person or presence of another by violence or threat" which is considered a felony; prostituting or escorting ... The focus of the study was focused to the Chicago Police Department and the Chicago Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) where the use of statistics of bank robbers, interviewing bank robbers, and determining what kind of security measures and security equipment was been used, the gathering of the information was used to gain insight into bank robbery (Carrol & Loch, (1997). The study first focused on basic information of bank robberies, by using records that the FBI kept when investing bank robbery scenes. This information was very helpful in determining the trends of bank robbers; the investigators gave suggestions to institutions on how to create better security measures. The investigator took all the FBI reports and placed them into a database for future reference (Carrol & Loch, (1997). The investigator wanted to learn what motivated bank robbers so they interviewed offenders either in federal or local correctional institutes. They have currently interviewed five offenders, varying from robbers who passed notes to armed single robbers to a group or gang robberies. • 12. I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak Markus Zusak's I Am the Messenger Many issues can influence the development of an author's novel. Maybe the author wants to focus on historical matters, and place historical references into their novel. Maybe social concerns are the topic in their novel. Or maybe the author intends for their novel to be a political work. Regardless of what sort of influence they consider placing into their novel, all authors do tend to allow one thing to influence their writing, their own personalities and personal knowledge. Creating a novel comes from within an author's personality and experiences and naturally forms their story. Biographical influence is noticeable in the character of Ed as in Markus Zusak's I Am the Messenger. The location in which someone grew up and got an education often has a massive impact on how that person develops. Where you are dictates who your friends are, what school you attend, what job you get, and even who you might marry. Zusak grew up in Australia and still lives there currently. Though I Am the Messenger is not directly stated to take place in Australia, Zusak made quite clear during an interview that took place between him and the blog Yapping About Young Adult. In this interview, Zusak states that I Am the Messenger is "very Australian . . . The first section was labeled as "conformity", being the least to commit crime that's where a large amount of the population would be considered part of. Conformity is accepting the means and goals which meant that these people were the hard workers working hard to achieve the wealth needed. • 28. Verbal Overhadowing Inaccuracies Societies across the United States are comprised of many culturally diverse people. Each and every individual possesses a distinct perception that differs from one another of events that have transpired. For most people that desire to achieve a career in law enforcement, they depend heavily on accurate, detailed eyewitness testimonials on a daily basis to apprehend the correct perpetrator that had committed a crime. In fact, law officials frequently inquire about precise and dependable depictions from bystanders within the community, as their ability to accurately identify the perpetrator immensely assists law officials. In that regard, law enforcement officers are restricted significantly by accurate eyewitness testimonies, within a particular... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the first condition, the manipulation consisted of participants that were given an immediate description task following the video of the perpetrator committing a crime (Alonga et al., 1990). In the second condition, manipulation consisted of participants that were given 20 minute–delayed description tasks of the perpetrator committing a crime (Alonga et al., 1990). Results indicate that the participants in the immediate description tasks were 4% less likely to select the correct perpetrator in a police line up; whereas, participants in the 20–minute delayed description tasks were 16% more likely to select the perpetrator in a lineup (Alonga et al., 1990). This study is indicative to our findings concerning the effects of verbal overshadowing, as our results were similar to the immediate description and delayed description in our study to illustrate the effects of verbal overshadowing. Our study predicts that the effect of verbal overshadowing is prevalent in an immediate description retrieval opposed to the delayed description retrieval in accurately identifying the correct ... • 31. Terrorism : Terrorism And Terrorism Question 1: Define and give examples of what terrorism is and the associated risks involved for emergency responders. Terrorism is the use of violence and threats against civilian populations to further ones political or religious beliefs. The more frightened we are, the more successful terrorists will judge their attacks (Newman & Clarke, 2008). Terrorists will use many different attack methods to strike fear into civilian populations. One of the most polarizing terrorists events in U.S. history was the 9/11 attack where aircraft were used to destroy the twin towers in New York, causing more than 3000 civilians to lose their lives. In other terrorist events, attackers have used firearms, explosive devices, and even vehicles to carry out their attacks. The San Bernardino attack that took place on December 2nd, 2015, involved the use of firearms and explosive devices. Due to the nature of terrorist attacks and then methods they use to carry out the attacks, first responders will encounter many different risks when responding to a terrorist event. One of those risks is the fact that terrorists can and have used explosive devices that fit into small bags and suitcases. Most experts agree that terrorists can easily plant a suitcase bomb, containing a radiological dispersal device, into of our large cities (Newman Clarke, 2008). They were hemp farmers that owned six slaves, but most people wouldn't know that. They only know him as an outlaw. Nevertheless, the name "Jesse James" is one that almost everyone has heard, even though he has been dead for over one hundred years. (Defeat n. pg.) Now, although Jesse James was a traditional outlaw in many respects, his legend perseveres as an icon of American culture. Jesse James made a bank in Gallatin, Missouri as his first target. The man who had killed Bill Anderson, the leader of his old gang, ran this bank. On December 7, 1869, Jesse and Frank rode in during broad daylight, shot an unarmed employee, and left with some worthless paper. They made an escape through the midst of a posse sent to capture them. The brothers later declared that they would never be taken alive. The Gallatin robbery essentially set the pattern for more robberies to come. It was risky, it was daring, and it had a hidden agenda other than simple robbery. In this case it was the killing of the man who had hunted down Jesse's old leader. (Stiles 61) After that, for the first time ever, the newspapers mentioned Jesse James. He loved the attention. James became involved with an ex–Confederate shortly thereafter. He was also a newspaper editor. His name was John Newman Edwards. Jesse used this to his advantage, making a myth of himself as almost a hero of the South. His myth was very similar to that of Robin Hood. In his case, he was a hero who helped poor Missourians that were hurt by radical Republicans. In letters that Edwards published, Jesse would claim innocence for specific crimes. • 37. Literary Analysis OfBullet In The Brain, By Tobias Wolff Do not laugh at the man with the gun, you will get a bullet in the brain The short story, "Bullet in the brain, by Tobias Wolff," Is told through third person narration, the narrator has unlimited omniscience. The protagonist is Ander's, He is suffering from ennui and alienation. Ander's seems to have distanced himself from others and created his own reality in his head instead of the world around him; causing the world around him to become like a story. Which he despises because of his line of work, a book critic. While doing so he constantly criticizes the world around him as if it is a story and ends up getting killed in the process. Through tone, setting, and style the author, Tobias Wolff, created a wonderful short story that compares to no other. The tone of the story is annoyed, the author, Tobias Wolff, makes the atmosphere while you read seem as if you are disgusted with the other characters in the story. It is as if the tone of the short story is making fun of all the other characters involved. It made the author of this analysis feel like laughing in a condescending manner. The protagonist, Ander's is a book critic in the short story, and it is as he has disconnected from reality, or has created his own in his mind. That the real reality is only a poorly written book that he must criticize as such. While doing so, he plays with death, making fun of the robber for his poor and clichГ© choice of words instead of fearing for his life when the robber has a gun to his head threatening his life. A good example of Ander's mockery is, "Anders burst out laughing. He covered his mouth with both hands and said, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," then snorted helplessly through his fingers and said, " Capiche – oh, God, capiche," (Wolff, 247) The obvious antagonists in the story is the robbers whom take Ander's life. Really it was only the robber with a sawed off shot gun, the other robber is a flat character and is only used as filler. Having only one line and no description what so ever. The only character in the entire short story that has many lines, and a little back story is Ander's and its only after he is dead that the reader learns anything more about him than that he is a book critic.
