On August 23, 1971, strange faces began appearing in the kitchen floor of Maria Gomez Pereira's home in Belmez de la Moraleda, Spain. It was discovered that the home was built on the site of a former graveyard. Thousands of people came to see the mysterious Belmez ghost faces. Tests on samples from the floor were inconclusive as to the cause of the faces. The phenomenon remains unexplained and the house continues to attract visitors hoping to see the faces.

pereira, a stain was first notice on her
kitchen floor. The face grew into other
face then it evolved into image of a
entires bodies.
It was found that the home had been built
on the land that was once the site of
multiple graveyard.

normal invesgatiors.

5.  Thousands of people would line up in front of
the house to catch a glimpse of the Belmez
ghost faces.
 The city council decided to dig out the spot
where the faces were apppearing
 Many began to belive that if the remains
Were moved and given a proper burial the
faces would stop appearing.

6. The floor was sealed with wax
and measures were taken to
prevent any human contact
with the floor for some time.
When the wax was remove
not only the image continue to
transform new image had
also appeared this was very
confusing.

8. Several tests were done on the samples of the cement
taken from the floor. These tests were proved wrong
beside, the faces were appearing in the cement
The scientist was quoted saying that the belmez faces
were ‘the most important paranormal happening in
history’.
Maria gomez died in feb,2004 at the age of 85yrs. To
this day, the image continue to appear. People
continue to travel to this small village and maria’s
home is advertise to the tourists as la casa de las
caraas (the house of faces).
