The Effects Of Social Media On Mental Health
In a growing world where technology has become an essential source of communication, special
attention must be placed on the potential hazards of social media. The relationship between an
individual s social media habits and mental health is complex. In this report many concepts will be
explored thoroughly such as, the effects of social media on mental health, how it is concerned with
substance abuse, the advantages and disadvantages of social media and which social media site is
cyberbullying occurred on the most. Firstly, there have been significant links between our online
presence and other aspects of our mental health, which has inspired the subject matter of many recent
research studies around the world. There are many psychological and physical factors that affect our
mental well being due to the impact of social media. Depression and Body Dysmorphia being the
leading causes, due to the content the individuals are exposed to while online. Even though
researchers coined the correlation between social media use and depression as complex. Data was
collected from a sample of 340 first year college students, and the findings were that the increase use
of Facebook have been associated with higher levels of loneliness. Also the extensive use of Facebook
has been associated with higher rates of disordered eating and body image insecurity. In the primary
research, questions were asked whether the constant use of social media makes the individuals happy
or has the extensive

Moral Behavior Video Analysis
I do believe that Kohlberg s stages of moral development are well developed, but I also believe that no
every single individual goes through these stages sequentially; we are all different, and we all have
different moral development meaning that one thing can be right for me, but totally wrong for you. As
the video stated, it is moral reasoning that determines the stage of moral development, and universal
sequence of moral development and that each person develops his own degree of morality in the same
consistent and unchanging ways. I do believe that some adults will ever actually attain level six of
morality, because I would have been one of those adults in not reaching level six of morality. I think
that every person will react to every

Mulholland Drive Movie Essay
Mulholland Drive, directed by David Lynch, is a film that plays heavily on the idea of disillusionment.
Lynch incinerates the viewers expectations for this storyline by revealing to us that the everything we
have seen was part of some elaborate fantasy, three quarters into movie. The film uses editing to
generate emotions and ideas through the construction of patterns and seeing, hinting towards the film s
unconventionality. The casting couch scene in the film in which Betty has her first audition made me
feel uncomfortable and off gaurs, as this character who is presented as innocent suddenly sexualizes
herself in order to get a role in Hollywood. The overall acting up until this point is overdone and
almost artificial but it isn t until ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reading brings up how Scottie s transformations of Judy is reflective of the transformation of
stars, specifically highlighting male dominance. However, Lynch takes a different approach in which
he rejects the Hollywood obsession with masculinity just as he rejects linear formatting. Lynch takes a
similar approach to creating a film on the premise of disillusionment, but he tries to modernize the
story in ways that add to the complexity while being more overtly explicit then Hitchcock could have
been during his time. One quote from Shetley s analysis which really made sense in explaining this
film to me is when he says: [a]s much as her lesbian inclination, movie love is a forbidden desire that
keeps Diane on the outside of Hollywood, where no one who genuinely loves movies gets to make
them, where only those who instrumentalize both women and movies are allowed access. Here
Shetley is saying that Lynch is perhaps reflecting on his experiences in Hollywood and conveys this
truth by showing Diane s harsh reality. This character of Diane is so tormented by her love for Camilla
and her desire to be a successful actress that it pushes her to the extremes, causing her to orchestrate
Camilla s death before eventually taking her own life after enduring horrific hallucinations of actors
from her fantasy

The Dangers Of Hunger And Malnutrition
PROBLEM:
Food security is said to be attained when all people are able to access enough safe and nutritious food
to meet their requirements for a healthy life . However, food security is challenged by various factors
across production and consumption. Food production, trade, the environmental impact of agriculture,
the threat of climate change, and the factors that affect food prices are all largely global in nature there
is no single solution that any one country can enact to ensure access to affordable, sustainable, safe
and nutritious food for all.
Various countries are facing the burden of hunger and undernutrition/malnutrition. Tackling hunger is
one of the greatest challenges of the times. Hunger is triggered by multiple ... Show more content on

Climate change will only make things worse as elevated levels of CO2 reduce the nutritional content
of grains, tubers and legumes, affecting key nutrients such as zinc and iron. The estimated impact of
undernutrition on gross domestic product (GDP) is 11% every year more than the annual economic
downturn caused by the global financial crisis. A growing population means more mouths to feed.

ANALYSIS:
About 2 billion of the global population of over 7 billion are food insecure because they fall short of
one or several of Food and Agriculture Organization s dimensions of food security. Enormous
geographic differences in the prevalence of hunger exist worldwide.
Globally, one in nine people in the world today (795 million) are undernourished. The clear majority
of the world s hungry people live in developing countries, where 12.9 per cent of the population is
undernourished. Asia is the continent with the most hungry people two thirds of the total. The
percentage in southern Asia has fallen in recent years but in western Asia it has increased slightly.
Southern Asia faces the greatest hunger burden, with about 281 million undernourished people. In sub
Saharan Africa, projections for the 2014 2016 period indicate a rate of undernourishment of almost 23
per cent. Poor

Pellagra Research Paper
Pellagra is a disease which is caused as a result of a deficiency is vitamin B 3, also known as niacin.
Pellagara can be identified in two ways with the first being Primary pellagra which is the result of not
enough niacin in the body or Secondary pellagra which is the result of there being enough niacin in
the body, but there is an inhibitant which will prevent the absorption of niacin and the processing of
niacin by the body. Both Primary and Secondary pellagra can result in a patient having diarrhea,
vomiting, fatigue, dementia and dermatitis. This is a severe condition which if left untreated will lead
to the death being the outcome for the patient. Pellagra is not a current danger in the United States and

In most instaces a person being treated for pellagra should see improvement within two days of their
treatment plan beginning. The primary goal of a treatment plan will be to raise the level of niacin in
the body. While the main focus will be in placing niacin in the body to get niacin to optimal levels,
there may be instances in which treatment will cause for other supplements to be take in addition to
the increases niacin. Many times this diet will include a high protein diet along with an infusion of B
complex vitamins because many times the patient will have other nutrion related issues in addition to
niacin deficiency when diagnosed with pellagara. Patients may be on bedrest while undergoing

Why did a Socialist or Labor Party never gain traction in...
Why did a Socialist or Labor Party never gain traction in the United States? According to Marxist
revolutionary theory, advanced capitalism is a necessary precondition to the development of socialism.
Capitalists would ruthlessly exploit workers, accumulating capital from the workers labor but not
sharing it. This would result in the workers developing a collective class consciousness, overthrowing
their oppressors, and replacing their bourgeois government with a dictatorship of the proletariat, i.e.,
socialism. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels expected that, because the United States had the most
advanced form of capitalism in the world, it was the most likely setting for a proletarian revolution,
yet, no socialist or labor party has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Marxist theory, it should have been impossible for Russia to achieve socialism. It was
the least industrialized country in Europe, and most of its population consisted of peasants rather than
a class conscious proletarian working class. The first socialist country should have been a country like
the United States, but proletarian revolution did not occur in the United States first or ever. Over the
course of the past 110 years, historians, political scientists, and economists have all attempted to
explain why. The bulk of this historiographical essay will address Werner Sombart s 1906 assessment
of the failings of American socialism, Eric Foner s critical reinterpretation of the question from 1984,
and these works conversation with each other and other studies. German economist and sociologist
Werner Sombart agreed with the basic Marxist assertion that the development of socialism was a
necessary reaction to capitalism, and thus was most likely to occur in the United States first. When no
such thing had transpired by the first years of the twentieth century, Sombart conducted the first book
length study on the question: Warum gibt es in den Vereingten Staaten keinen Sozialismus? (Why is
there no Socialism in the United States?), published in 1906. Sombart does not offer a straightforward
answer. Rather, he examines a litany of issues which hindered the growth of

emotions that we can convey with words. It s important to respond and understand body language as it
can help us to build stronger relationships and bonds between people.
It includes body movements and gestures, posture, muscle tension, eye contact, skin colouring
(flushed red), even people s breathing rate and sweat. Additionally, the tone of voice, the rate of

Differentiated Instruction And The Udl Principles Essay
Differentiated instruction and the UDL principles
These two elements of classroom are intrinsically linked, as differentiated instruction is well suited to
the three principles in UDL. By focusing on CAST s three systems and appropriate teaching methods,
particularly recognition, strategic and affective, the guide aims to identify ways in which differentiated
instruction coordinates UDL theory. Varying theories have been proven to be affective in supporting
different skills as students learn, from gifted and talented to those providing more support in special
education programs.

Various Rocket Propellants and Their Characterstics
Rocket
A rocket is a missile, spacecraft, aircraft or other vehicle which obtains thrust from a rocket engine. In
all rockets, the exhaust is formed entirely from propellants carried within the rocket before use.[1]
Rocket engines work by action and reaction. Rocket engines push rockets forwards simply by
throwing their exhaust backwards extremely fast.
Rockets for military and recreational uses date back to at least 13th century China.[2] Significant
scientific, interplanetary and industrial use did not occur until the 20th century, when rocketry was the
enabling technology of the Space Age, including setting foot on the moon.
Rockets are used for fireworks, weaponry, ejection seats, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rocket propellant
Rocket propellant is mass that is stored in some form of propellant tank, prior to being used as the
propulsive mass that is ejected from a rocket engine in the form of a fluid jet to produce thrust. A fuel
propellant is often burned with an oxidizer propellant to produce large volumes of very hot gas. These
gases expand and push on a nozzle, which accelerates them until they rush out of the back of the
rocket at extremely high speed, making thrust. Sometimes the propellant is not burned, but can be
externally heated for more performance. For smaller attitude control thrusters, a compressed gas
escapes the spacecraft through a propelling nozzle.
Chemical rocket propellants are most commonly used, which undergo exothermic chemical reactions
to produce hot gas used by a rocket for propulsive purposes.
In ion propulsion, the propellant is made of electrically charged atoms (ions), which are
electromagnetically pushed out of the back of the spacecraft. Magnetically accelerated ion drives are
not usually considered to be rockets however, but a similar class of thrusters use electrical heating and
magnetic nozzles.
Chemical propellants
There are three main types of propellants: solid, liquid, and hybrid.
Solid propellants

The Three Reasons Of Chivalry In The Modern Society
In this technologically advanced world, there is an element that is missing. In everyday life, there used
to be chivalry: holding open doors, pulling a chair out for a woman, and even the phrase ¨ladies go
first.¨ Chivalry is courteous acts and gallant behavior, especially toward women, also known as the
gentleman. There are very few modern gentleman and that is the problem with today s world. Not to
mention, all of society has lost respect for each other. There are three main reasons that chivalry has
disappeared, the addiction to social media, the general lack of manners, and finally, women
themselves. There is no way to solve a problem that no one cares about. Unfortunately, not a whole lot
of people care about chivalry, and the basic respect for all men. Ergo, there is no guaranteed solution,
but maybe if the general public agree to teach some sort of chivalrous content in public schools, we
could start something big. The first reason that there are very few gentleman left, is the fact that this
generation relies so heavily on social media. According to a study from the family technology
education non profit group, Common Sense Media, ¨teens are spending more than one third of their
days using media such as online video or music nearly nine hours on average,¨ therefore people are
distracted by their devices. Individuals spend so much time on their phone, that they do not feel like
talking to people they would rather text. Even so, there is no worry anymore because

Analysis Of Hotel California By The Eagles
I have always enjoyed music with strong, meaningful lyrics so this option was the obvious choice for
my final. I find myself constantly listening to music and have listened to Hotel California by The
Eagles more times than I can count, making it another obvious choice for me. Although, when reading
through the lyrics the first time, I realized that I had never understood the song meaning and the theme
it is intended to portray. It was interesting to read through it with my own, as opposed to hearing the
tone it receives when listening to the song. Not having the music helped me understand the meaning
of the lines better, letting the words sink in instead of them being sung quickly and then gone.
Hotel California takes on a relatively free form when analyzed as poetry. It contains a mostly
consistent rhyme pattern throughout using an A,A,B,B,C,C series, as many songs do. However, the
meter of the song is less structured and has more variance throughout the stanzas. Each can carry
different numbers of syllables than the one before, depending on the part of the song. This is where the
work loses its formality and is taken as free verse. When reading through, the lyrics carry even more
similar traits than those we look for when analyzing modern poetry including, general theme and
figurative language.
The theme of the song is rather interesting and I have heard many different theories about the meaning
when discussing it with peers over the years. One of the thoughts is

Compare and contrast the Red Scare and the McCarthy trials to the situation in The Crucible; contrast

Response: The Red Scare and McCarthy trials show much similarity to the situation in the Crucible.
One similarity that these both share is how the people were afraid of the courts because they held high
power. The Red Scare was a growing fear of Communism in America that became prevalent after the
World Wars. The second Red Scare was known as McCarthyism because it is an act of accusing
someone of treason or disloyalty without any evidence, this is similar to the Crucible. In the book,

Prevention, Detection And Diagnosis Of Periodontal Disease
The most recent NHANES survey, conducted in 2012, estimated the prevalence of periodontitis in
adults aged thirty to seventy to be 47.2%.[1] This survey did not include younger age groups, in which
aggressive periodontitis is more often seen. Aggressive periodontitis has been reported to affect 0.2
10% of the population below twenty one years of age in African American and Hispanic
subpopulations.[2] If left untreated, chronic and aggressive forms of periodontitis can lead to tooth
loss and may contribute to the etiology and/or progression of certain systemic inflammatory diseases.
[3, 4] In current periodontal practice, detection and diagnosis of periodontal disease is mainly derived
from a comprehensive clinical examination in combination with a review of patient medical and
dental history. An accurate periodontal diagnosis is the first step in the development of a well designed
and suitable treatment plan for management of a patient with a periodontal disease. Based on the
current classification provided by the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), published in
1999, severity of periodontitis is based on the amount of clinical attachment loss (CAL) as follows:
slight 1 2 mm, moderate 3 4 mm, and severe ≥ 5 mm. Attachment loss is measured by adding the
pocket probing depth and the amount of recession. [5] In clinical practice, however, measurement of
CAL has proven to be difficult and time consuming. Though it is the currently accepted system,

Hadrian s Campaign Essay
Hadrian was born in Rome on Jan. 2, 76. The event of him becoming the new emperor of
Rome raised quite a bit of suspicion. It is said that his uncle, the previous ruler, adopted Hadrian while
on his death bed. There is some suspicion about this because all the other potential heirs for the
position were all mysteriously killed leaving Hadrian to take the throne. After his uncle died, Hadrian
took over as the new emperor of Rome.
During the time Hadrian took his place as a royal, Rome was involved in the Parthian

Hadrian focused so much on the defensive side of things, that he solders training was becoming
unnecessary, and the efficiency of the armies started to decline. One of Hadrian s famous creations
was the Hadrian Wall. This was the defense barrier he built on the border between England and
Scotland.
Another significant event that took place during Hadrian s reign was a religious outbreak.
During his rule, Hadrian decided to restore Jerusalem. Through the process of restoring this lad he
built a temple to Jupiter. Jupiter, also known as Zeus, is the Roman god of the sky. Now this would
have been fine, but Hadrian chose to build this temple exactly where the Jewish temple once stood.
This is the reason for the Jewish outbreak. The Jewish outbreak lasted for three and a half years with
more than half a million people dead.
Overall Hadrian did not have much class when running the Roman empire. He started off rough with a
sketchy coronation. Then, once he took control chose to pull back his military forces completely
which seems a little coward like. Finally, the fact that he built a temple

Britain, at the time, was a growing nation in possession of the techniques, organization, and energy
which would enable her to become a world power. She was in the midst of a political, social and

new attitudes towards India.
The designs of the English became more imperial and their attitude more haughty and aloof
(George,44). The social gulf that existed between the diplomatic pundits and the English scholars
began to widen. The attitude of the average Englishman changed from one of disapproval of Hindu
superstitions and Mussalman bigotry and of philosophic and cultural interest in Hindu mythology, and
of historical curiosity in Moguhal domination; into one of contempt for an inferior and conquered

Essay about The Vietnam War s Effects on American Society
The Vietnam War s Effects on American Society
Abstract
The Vietnam War had a profound effect on American society.
It changed the way we viewed our government, the media, and our Constitutional rights. Because of
this shift in perspective, the country was torn apart and yet still came together in new and different
ways. The Vietnam War s contraversiality spurred a great many sources of protest, against our
government s use of power, how far we could stretch the rights of free expression, and primarily
against the violence of the war itself. These changes in the behavior of society have left a lasting mark
on our perception and the demand to be informed since that influencial period of social turmoil.

It was not just a war in Vietnam or in
America, but the war became a symbol (Gioglio, 20).
One of the most prevelant type of protests were based on the imparting of knowledge. These were
known as teach ins. The teach ins were really the first step in raising conciousness to the impact the
war could have(Fever, 11).
They were the first things to get people informed and involved. Starting with teach ins during the
spring of
1965, the massive antiwar efforts centered on the colleges, with the students playing leading roles.
These teach ins were mass public demonstrations, usually held in the spring and fall seasons. The
teach in movement was at first, a gentle approach to the antiwar activity (Gettleman, 54).
Teach ins were one important way to bring more people into the antiwar movement. During a teach in,
students, faculty
members, and guest speakers discussed issues concerning the
Vietnam war (McCormick, 37). The teach ins began at the
University of Michigan in March of 1965, and spread to other campuses, including Wisconsin in
April. These protests at some of America s most well known universities attracted the public eye. The
demonstrations were one form of attempting to go beyond mere words and research and reason, and to
put direct pressure on those who were conducting policy in apparent disdain for the will expressed by

Ethos Pathos Logos Disadvantages
Ethos and pathos are rhetorical techniques Knopf uses to successfully deliver his argument. Knopf
effectively uses ethos to prove to the reader the credibility of his piece. One way Knopf goes about
doing this is he uses several creditable sources to back up his points. These sources include, Unites
States Department of Agriculture, Working Group s Farm Subsidies Database, and the New York
Times. By using a variety of different sources, Knopf is able to enhance his paper. Pathos is used when
Knopf mentions the extra seventy calories associated with whole milk and the disadvantages that
come from those extra calories. Knopf implores these extra calories are linked to heart disease and
obesity (Knopf). The majority of people reading this essay might be able to relate to that quote in one
way or another. The reader might know someone who is suffering from these diseases or they could
potentially have the diseases. Another example of pathos used would be when Knopf discusses the
effect cows have on the environment. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Discussing the benefits and disadvantages gives the reader background knowledge so they can see for
themselves the actual nutritional value of milk. In Knopf s essay, he compares skim milk to whole
milk. One cup of whole milk, according to the Web site, contains 70 more calories than a cup of skim
milk (Knopf). In todays society, many people are concerned with health and weight gain. Seventy
calories might seem like a large number to people who are trying to loose weight. By distinguishing
between the two milks, Knopf suggests milk can be both healthy and unhealthy. Knopf also discusses
how fat from whole milk is used to created other common dairy products. This fact might not be
known to the reader which can be an advantage because it could potentially cause the reader to think
about the dairy products they use and realize what they are made

Mean Streets And Taxi Driver
INTRODUCTION:
Violence...Sex...Art (Krämer 2005) was used to aptly describe the American New Wave Movement in
cinema. On screen nudity, explicit violence, coarse language, and subject matter that were once taboo
shocked audiences and became a prominent feature in the films of the movement. With the collapse of
the studio system, which controlled Hollywood since 1910 (Thompson, Bordwell 2010), the time
came for new filmmakers educated in their craft to take hold of the American film industry and
forever change it. The rating system was introduced, meaning that the filmmakers had free creative
reign over their films, as they were not constricted to making films that were suitable for all audiences.

Typically, an audience expects a normal movie plot to contain in this order: an introduction to setting
and characters, a problem or inciting incident, rising action, a climax, and falling action. While to
some extent both Mean Streets and Taxi Driver contain all of the typical plot devices, the time span in
which these events take place is further spread out, focusing on introduction of characters and setting
for a large proportion of the film. In both Mean Streets and Taxi Driver, there is a greater emphasis on
character than plot, which contributes to creating a sense of realism in the film by introducing us to the
characters, and letting us spend enough time with them really getting to know and sympathize with
them before the majority of the plot transpires. For example, in Mean Streets, the environment is
introduced first, by seemingly unprofessional home movie shots. Following the intro, we are
introduced to the characters in the film one by one in their natural environments doing something
typical of their character. For example, Johnny Boy dropped a bomb in a public mailbox, and Michael
has just accidentally bought a shipment of Japanese adaptors by mistake. From this introduction we
get a strong sense of who the two characters really are. We know that Johnny Boy is immature and a
troublemaker, and we know that Michael tries to do the right thing, but never has any luck. In Taxi
Driver, we are introduced to our protagonist Travis, a cynical, misfit taxi driver and the filthy mess of
a city in which he lives. By allowing us this time to become properly acquainted with the characters
(such as Travis, Johnny Boy, and Charlie), Scorsese makes the events which transpire in the movie
more realistic, as they happen to characters we feel

Meditation History
There is limited knowledge concerning the history of meditation, but some researchers think that
meditation could have been discovered when people sat at campsite fires thousands of years ago and
looked at the flames. This theory goes well with the known fact that staring at a candle flame can
induce one type of meditation. As time passed different forms of it were developed. Books from India
called tantras speak of this type of prayer as far back as five thousand years ago. Archaeologists
discovered a statue of a yogi in the Indus Valley Civilization and this shows that meditation in the
practice of yoga could be as ancient as the first Indian civilization.
Buddha was a big advocate of meditation. He became established as a teacher about 500 B.C. His
ideas were stretched into various Asian countries and in other places people created different forms of
meditation based on his teachings. In Islam the Sufi tradition of meditation was purported and the
leaders (Sufis) think that when Mohamed began Islam that is when meditation started with that
religion. Meditation is part of Christianity, Jainism, Judaism, and aboriginal religions. ... Show more

The Hobbit Life Lessons
What can a story teach us about life? Some stories are considered to distract us from reality and bring
us into a world of freedom. The Hobbit, by J.R.R Tolkien is thought by some to be a piece of literature
that is represented as an escapist story. But yet, the novel teaches the reader many valuable life lessons
that can benefit our personal lives. Many of the characters go through changes in the story that end up
changing the way they look at life, the characters themselves create emotional distress among each
other and how the individual self actions change who they are. The Hobbit isn t just a fantasy story for

Enzymes in Industry
Enzymes in Industry
Enzymes are described as chemical a catalyst that is they speed up the rate of reaction.
Enzymes have enormous potential in the commercial world. They are cheap to use in industry and
they do not need high temperatures to work. They work at neutral PH and normal atmospheric
pressure. This reduces the costs of fuel in industry and are energy saving. Also, enzymes can be
reused. This means that they are needed in relatively small amounts in comparison with Inorganic
catalysts. Once a suitable enzyme has been found, it is made on a larger scale and purified before use.
Enzymes are specific in their action. They only react with one substrate to produce a specific product.

Brewing: Beer brewing essentially involves the production of alcohol by the action of yeasts on plant
materials such as barley, maize, sorghum, hops and rice. The yeast cells are capable of converting
simple sugars into alcohol and carbon dioxide. However, most of the sugar present in plant materials
is in the form of complex polysaccharides such as starch and cannot be readily utilised. Traditionally
these nutrients are released by the process of malting whereby barley is allowed to partly germinate
during which endogenous enzymes are released which degrade starch and protein to simple sugars and
amino acids which can be utilised by the yeast cells. The malting process is a relatively expensive way
of manufacturing enzymes and is not always easy to control. Industrial enzymes such as amylases,
glucanases and proteases can be added to unmalted barley resulting in the same simple sugars and
amino acids that malting would liberate but in a more controlled fashion. Enzymes also play an
important role as filtration improvers. Slow filtration of the mash or final beer often results from the
presence of viscous polysaccharides. Amyloglucosidase can be used to break down sugars to produce
low calorie beer.
Detergents: Enzymes have been used in the detergent industry since

The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution in China
The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution or the Cultural Revolution had been a failed attempt at
making China a stronger country. This revolution had destroyed China s rich history. The period from
1966 to 1969 had been terrifying years in which the Red Guards used violence to purge China of any
anti communist sources. Mao Zedong had led the violence and turmoil in China after his failed
attempt at the Great Leap Forward. He relied on China s youth to change the traditional customs and
ideas. The students carried the Cultural Revolution forward and were encouraged to attack authority.

Guard utilized violence to enforce China s new communist ideals, but also rid China of the old culture.

We have vigorously to promote proletarian thoughts and smash bourgeois thoughts in all the
academic, educational, journalistic, art, literary, and other cultural circles...It is of the utmost
importance, involving the fate and future of our Party and our country. (pg. 174, Karnow)
This statement from this critical leader shows the meaning behind their actions. Mao Zedong wanted
to promote his own ideals about communism in China. In order to do so, Mao destroyed China s
cultural elements that were created over the course of thousands of years. All of the culture
accumulated over this vast amount of time was demolished for the sake of promoting the proletarian
ideals. The horrendous actions of smashing bourgeois thoughts show the goal of the Cultural
Revolution. According to Mao Zedong, promoting communism was going to push China towards
becoming a stronger country. But as shown in the lost history, accumulated throughout each era, the
Cultural Revolution was leading to a place far worse than before. Furthermore, the police would be

Analyzing Bonaventure s Essay
Finally, insofar as he is the life, Christ is the source of the contemplative cognition, the final stage of
the cognitive process. Once again, he grounds his exposition on Biblical sources, first focusing on
John 10:9. In this passage, we find the apostle writing that I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will
be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture . In connection to the present theme,
Bonaventure argues on the ground of this passage that the soul contemplates [...] in two ways,
according to two kinds of nourishment: internally in divinity and externally in humanity. Accordingly,
there are two modes of contemplating, going in and going out, which one can attain only through
Christ . More specifically, on the one hand Bonaventure writes that we go into Christ inasmuch as he

In this sense, just as the cognitive process began with our faith placed in revelation and authority, we
reach the stability and fullness of truth by contemplating Christ as the uncreated or as the incarnate

his external and corporeal presence. What is different now, is that in contemplation, be it on the inside
or on the outside, what we meet and contemplate is in both cases the eternal Word or, Christ according
to his being eternal , once being incarnated in human form, and once as we encounter it in our soul.

GRIEF COUNSELING IN A GROUP SETTING 5
Interpersonal Counseling
Interpersonal Counseling in a group setting helps initiate the mourning process and encourages the
grieving individual to regain interests and re establish relationships (MacNair‐Semands, 2004).
Interpersonal group counselors encourage college students to discuss the events surrounding their loss.
In doing so, college students are allowed the opportunity to reflect on their feelings connected to their
loss and deal with their loss. Additionally, interpersonal group counseling allows the college students
to examine the relationships I their lives. This technique allows the college student to see how grief
may be negatively affecting their current relationships and find ways to maintain positive
relationships. The ultimate goal of interpersonal group counseling is to establish stability for the

goal by creating an environment that allows college students to deal with their present experiences of
loss by providing a reward system for the college students efforts to cope with loss
(Ogrodniczuk, et al., 2003). Therefore, group counseling is beneficial for dealing with grief.

  • 2. The Effects Of Social Media On Mental Health In a growing world where technology has become an essential source of communication, special attention must be placed on the potential hazards of social media. The relationship between an individual s social media habits and mental health is complex. In this report many concepts will be explored thoroughly such as, the effects of social media on mental health, how it is concerned with substance abuse, the advantages and disadvantages of social media and which social media site is cyberbullying occurred on the most. Moral Behavior Video Analysis I do believe that Kohlberg s stages of moral development are well developed, but I also believe that no every single individual goes through these stages sequentially; we are all different, and we all have different moral development meaning that one thing can be right for me, but totally wrong for you. As the video stated, it is moral reasoning that determines the stage of moral development, and universal sequence of moral development and that each person develops his own degree of morality in the same consistent and unchanging ways. I do believe that some adults will ever actually attain level six of morality, because I would have been one of those adults in not reaching level six of morality. • 4. Mulholland Drive Movie Essay Mulholland Drive, directed by David Lynch, is a film that plays heavily on the idea of disillusionment. Lynch incinerates the viewers expectations for this storyline by revealing to us that the everything we have seen was part of some elaborate fantasy, three quarters into movie. The film uses editing to generate emotions and ideas through the construction of patterns and seeing, hinting towards the film s unconventionality. The casting couch scene in the film in which Betty has her first audition made me feel uncomfortable and off gaurs, as this character who is presented as innocent suddenly sexualizes herself in order to get a role in Hollywood. The overall acting up until this point is overdone and almost artificial but it isn t until ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reading brings up how Scottie s transformations of Judy is reflective of the transformation of stars, specifically highlighting male dominance. However, Lynch takes a different approach in which he rejects the Hollywood obsession with masculinity just as he rejects linear formatting. Lynch takes a similar approach to creating a film on the premise of disillusionment, but he tries to modernize the story in ways that add to the complexity while being more overtly explicit then Hitchcock could have been during his time. One quote from Shetley s analysis which really made sense in explaining this film to me is when he says: [a]s much as her lesbian inclination, movie love is a forbidden desire that keeps Diane on the outside of Hollywood, where no one who genuinely loves movies gets to make them, where only those who instrumentalize both women and movies are allowed access. Here Shetley is saying that Lynch is perhaps reflecting on his experiences in Hollywood and conveys this truth by showing Diane s harsh reality. This character of Diane is so tormented by her love for Camilla and her desire to be a successful actress that it pushes her to the extremes, causing her to orchestrate Camilla s death before eventually taking her own life after enduring horrific hallucinations of actors from her fantasy ... The Dangers Of Hunger And Malnutrition PROBLEM: Food security is said to be attained when all people are able to access enough safe and nutritious food to meet their requirements for a healthy life . However, food security is challenged by various factors across production and consumption. Food production, trade, the environmental impact of agriculture, the threat of climate change, and the factors that affect food prices are all largely global in nature there is no single solution that any one country can enact to ensure access to affordable, sustainable, safe and nutritious food for all. • 7. Why did a Socialist or Labor Party never gain traction in... Why did a Socialist or Labor Party never gain traction in the United States? According to Marxist revolutionary theory, advanced capitalism is a necessary precondition to the development of socialism. Capitalists would ruthlessly exploit workers, accumulating capital from the workers labor but not sharing it. This would result in the workers developing a collective class consciousness, overthrowing their oppressors, and replacing their bourgeois government with a dictatorship of the proletariat, i.e., socialism. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels expected that, because the United States had the most advanced form of capitalism in the world, it was the most likely setting for a proletarian revolution, yet, no socialist or labor party has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Marxist theory, it should have been impossible for Russia to achieve socialism. It was the least industrialized country in Europe, and most of its population consisted of peasants rather than a class conscious proletarian working class. The first socialist country should have been a country like the United States, but proletarian revolution did not occur in the United States first or ever. Over the course of the past 110 years, historians, political scientists, and economists have all attempted to explain why. The bulk of this historiographical essay will address Werner Sombart s 1906 assessment of the failings of American socialism, Eric Foner s critical reinterpretation of the question from 1984, and these works conversation with each other and other studies. German economist and sociologist Werner Sombart agreed with the basic Marxist assertion that the development of socialism was a necessary reaction to capitalism, and thus was most likely to occur in the United States first. When no such thing had transpired by the first years of the twentieth century, Sombart conducted the first book length study on the question: Warum gibt es in den Vereingten Staaten keinen Sozialismus? (Why is there no Socialism in the United States?), published in 1906. Sombart does not offer a straightforward answer. Rather, he examines a litany of issues which hindered the growth of ... In all rockets, the exhaust is formed entirely from propellants carried within the rocket before use.[1] Rocket engines work by action and reaction. Rocket engines push rockets forwards simply by throwing their exhaust backwards extremely fast. Rockets for military and recreational uses date back to at least 13th century China.[2] Significant scientific, interplanetary and industrial use did not occur until the 20th century, when rocketry was the enabling technology of the Space Age, including setting foot on the moon. Rocket propellant Rocket propellant is mass that is stored in some form of propellant tank, prior to being used as the propulsive mass that is ejected from a rocket engine in the form of a fluid jet to produce thrust. A fuel propellant is often burned with an oxidizer propellant to produce large volumes of very hot gas. These gases expand and push on a nozzle, which accelerates them until they rush out of the back of the rocket at extremely high speed, making thrust. Sometimes the propellant is not burned, but can be externally heated for more performance. For smaller attitude control thrusters, a compressed gas escapes the spacecraft through a propelling nozzle. Chemical rocket propellants are most commonly used, which undergo exothermic chemical reactions to produce hot gas used by a rocket for propulsive purposes. In ion propulsion, the propellant is made of electrically charged atoms (ions), which are electromagnetically pushed out of the back of the spacecraft. Magnetically accelerated ion drives are not usually considered to be rockets however, but a similar class of thrusters use electrical heating and magnetic nozzles. • 12. The Three Reasons Of Chivalry In The Modern Society In this technologically advanced world, there is an element that is missing. In everyday life, there used to be chivalry: holding open doors, pulling a chair out for a woman, and even the phrase ¨ladies go first.¨ Chivalry is courteous acts and gallant behavior, especially toward women, also known as the gentleman. There are very few modern gentleman and that is the problem with today s world. Not to mention, all of society has lost respect for each other. There are three main reasons that chivalry has disappeared, the addiction to social media, the general lack of manners, and finally, women themselves. There is no way to solve a problem that no one cares about. Unfortunately, not a whole lot of people care about chivalry, and the basic respect for all men. Ergo, there is no guaranteed solution, but maybe if the general public agree to teach some sort of chivalrous content in public schools, we could start something big. The first reason that there are very few gentleman left, is the fact that this generation relies so heavily on social media. According to a study from the family technology education non profit group, Common Sense Media, ¨teens are spending more than one third of their days using media such as online video or music nearly nine hours on average,¨ therefore people are distracted by their devices. Although, when reading through the lyrics the first time, I realized that I had never understood the song meaning and the theme it is intended to portray. It was interesting to read through it with my own, as opposed to hearing the tone it receives when listening to the song. Not having the music helped me understand the meaning of the lines better, letting the words sink in instead of them being sung quickly and then gone. Hotel California takes on a relatively free form when analyzed as poetry. It contains a mostly consistent rhyme pattern throughout using an A,A,B,B,C,C series, as many songs do. However, the meter of the song is less structured and has more variance throughout the stanzas. Each can carry different numbers of syllables than the one before, depending on the part of the song. This is where the work loses its formality and is taken as free verse. When reading through, the lyrics carry even more similar traits than those we look for when analyzing modern poetry including, general theme and figurative language. The theme of the song is rather interesting and I have heard many different theories about the meaning when discussing it with peers over the years. One of the thoughts is ... One similarity that these both share is how the people were afraid of the courts because they held high power. The Red Scare was a growing fear of Communism in America that became prevalent after the World Wars. Prevention, Detection And Diagnosis Of Periodontal Disease The most recent NHANES survey, conducted in 2012, estimated the prevalence of periodontitis in adults aged thirty to seventy to be 47.2%.[1] This survey did not include younger age groups, in which aggressive periodontitis is more often seen. Aggressive periodontitis has been reported to affect 0.2 10% of the population below twenty one years of age in African American and Hispanic subpopulations.[2] If left untreated, chronic and aggressive forms of periodontitis can lead to tooth loss and may contribute to the etiology and/or progression of certain systemic inflammatory diseases. [3, 4] In current periodontal practice, detection and diagnosis of periodontal disease is mainly derived from a comprehensive clinical examination in combination with a review of patient medical and dental history. An accurate periodontal diagnosis is the first step in the development of a well designed and suitable treatment plan for management of a patient with a periodontal disease. Based on the current classification provided by the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), published in 1999, severity of periodontitis is based on the amount of clinical attachment loss (CAL) as follows: slight 1 2 mm, moderate 3 4 mm, and severe ≥ 5 mm. Attachment loss is measured by adding the pocket probing depth and the amount of recession. [5] In clinical practice, however, measurement of CAL has proven to be difficult and time consuming. The designs of the English became more imperial and their attitude more haughty and aloof (George,44). The social gulf that existed between the diplomatic pundits and the English scholars began to widen. The attitude of the average Englishman changed from one of disapproval of Hindu superstitions and Mussalman bigotry and of philosophic and cultural interest in Hindu mythology, and of historical curiosity in Moguhal domination; into one of contempt for an inferior and conquered people (George, 44). It changed the way we viewed our government, the media, and our Constitutional rights. The Vietnam War s contraversiality spurred a great many sources of protest, against our government s use of power, how far we could stretch the rights of free expression, and primarily against the violence of the war itself. Starting with teach ins during the spring of 1965, the massive antiwar efforts centered on the colleges, with the students playing leading roles. These teach ins were mass public demonstrations, usually held in the spring and fall seasons. The teach in movement was at first, a gentle approach to the antiwar activity (Gettleman, 54). Teach ins were one important way to bring more people into the antiwar movement. During a teach in, students, faculty members, and guest speakers discussed issues concerning the Vietnam war (McCormick, 37). Typically, an audience expects a normal movie plot to contain in this order: an introduction to setting and characters, a problem or inciting incident, rising action, a climax, and falling action. While to some extent both Mean Streets and Taxi Driver contain all of the typical plot devices, the time span in which these events take place is further spread out, focusing on introduction of characters and setting for a large proportion of the film. In both Mean Streets and Taxi Driver, there is a greater emphasis on character than plot, which contributes to creating a sense of realism in the film by introducing us to the characters, and letting us spend enough time with them really getting to know and sympathize with them before the majority of the plot transpires. For example, in Mean Streets, the environment is introduced first, by seemingly unprofessional home movie shots. Following the intro, we are introduced to the characters in the film one by one in their natural environments doing something typical of their character. For example, Johnny Boy dropped a bomb in a public mailbox, and Michael has just accidentally bought a shipment of Japanese adaptors by mistake. From this introduction we get a strong sense of who the two characters really are. We know that Johnny Boy is immature and a troublemaker, and we know that Michael tries to do the right thing, but never has any luck. In Taxi Driver, we are introduced to our protagonist Travis, a cynical, misfit taxi driver and the filthy mess of a city in which he lives. By allowing us this time to become properly acquainted with the characters (such as Travis, Johnny Boy, and Charlie), Scorsese makes the events which transpire in the movie more realistic, as they happen to characters we feel ... The yeast cells are capable of converting simple sugars into alcohol and carbon dioxide. Traditionally these nutrients are released by the process of malting whereby barley is allowed to partly germinate during which endogenous enzymes are released which degrade starch and protein to simple sugars and amino acids which can be utilised by the yeast cells. The malting process is a relatively expensive way of manufacturing enzymes and is not always easy to control.
