22.2% of females took part in my survey. 77.8% of males took part in my survey.
I’m very surprised about how many people actually chose online shopping and search engines rather than social networking sites as I imagined would be the most popular! Although social networking was the highest voted, I thought that the percentage would be much higher. Some people chose two/three options!
41.2% Clubs 47.1% Gigs 23.5% Festivals
I expected these results to be more swayed towards the online download rather than the in store purchase but I am very pleased that still a large population buy in store!
44.4% Said Yes they do live stream tracks! 55.6% Said no they do not live stream music!
44.4% Said they DO illegally download! 61.1% Said they DO NOT illegally download!
I will include all of these aspects within the production of my music magazine, But I will most definitely use ‘Latest News’ as a key selling point to the front cover of the magazine.
47.1% Said they spent £0 per month on music magazines! 47.1% Said they spent between £1-£3 on music magazines per month! 5.9% Said they spent over £3 per month on music magazines!

Survey Monkey I conducted my research using ‘Survey Monkey’. I created my own survey online and posted it on my Facebook account asking friends to take part. I had difficulty in the beginning in knowing how I was to structure my survey and how they would be answered. A fault in my design would be that I didn’t create my survey in a way that the ‘reader’ could answer only one of my multiple choice answers. My final results were somewhat surprising. I didn’t expect so little people to buy their music from stores and how little people spent on music magazines. I found it particularly interesting that the majority of people asked like to know all the latest news when reading a magazine rather than receiving freebies and getting exclusive interviews. I feel that I will most definitely design many of my key features on what I have found from asking a group of young people their preferred music choices, whether it by design, consumption or activities whilst using music. Action Points From this survey I have decided to include in my magazine….. A male target audience based magazine Music voucher freebies! An Exclusive interview and the main head line will be a ‘latest news leak’. Articles on gigs, clubs and festivals. Finally I have decided that my front cover is not going to be a conventional one, breaking the left third rule, Using a very big main image and including all of the above to the full extent.
