Brian Calloway believes that effective leadership requires understanding each other. He leads from the front by building teams and making quick decisions, requiring others to stay informed to prevent missed signals. Calloway's leadership style is that of a servant leader who enjoys being involved to accomplish missions while relying on others' attention to detail and completion of tasks.

I want to stand out and lead with courage from the front because I know that it’s neither the critic who counts; nor the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done better. I know that credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena… whose face is marred by dust, sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, who does so because there is no effort without errors and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms and great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at best, knows in the end the triumphs of high achievement, and who at worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly
Personality is formed from cultural, social, and situational factors, and inherited by genetic endowment. When I went back to Wayne State University for the second time I consulted with two Career Psychologists and hired a Dr. of Social Psychology in charge of research at University of Michigan to determine my next educational and career goals. Here are a few things that we know about me.
• Myers-Briggs type indicator - ENFJ
• Big 5 dimensions - Conscientiousness

I like to make my friends embolden and powerful and not diminished and powerless. From the responses I got, I can describe myself as a person who is ready to learn. From the experience with all those people, I can clearly see that I have the eager to acquire new things. I am a person of great ideas and courage in making the very problem that I have to face as an individual or as a group to be an opportunity to grow myself. Sometime I have to stay fearless; I am never afraid to make risk or even mistakes, I choose to risk so as to be able to save a situation. I’m that kind of a person who would work at night just to make sure that a friend or any other person for that matter who is stuck gets help in real time. I have the ability to do a lot of things because I measure my strength clearly so as to determine if there is the need for extra efforts. Also, I believe in being honest with myself and those that need my help. I firmly believe that we must be clear on what we can do and what is beyond our abilities. This about value and where we can apply them, as such I make effort to remain real to mu values to avert any downfalls. Overall, I do my best to ensure that I demonstrate honesty, growth, sincerity, and transformation.
Compassion
I like to make my friends embolden and powerful and not diminished and powerless. I must say that I have all it takes to care genuinely for others in a way that is selfless; I do this because of a genuine desire to assist as well as improve the life of people. It may get or not get me very far in y life, but I have realized that genuine care for other people can inspire them, promote goodness, and serve as an example. Mostly it is imperative to show a person who needs that you care for him or her. I believe that the good or bad things we do to people affect their lives more significantly in a way that we may not know. Therefore, I choose to care genuinely for people to ensure positive impact in their lives. I know I have all that it takes to care for a person; it is an inner instinct to do so since it is part of my personality, I call it empathy. I caring for people is not a choice I have to make but because I feel it is a predisposition to do so. It makes me feel better about myself, connect with other people and improves their lives. There is so much help needed out there, and this is why I believe that it is imperative that I should do whatever I can to assist through the donation of my skills. It is simply by finding ways to express love to others, be it a child, family member, friend, co-worker, or even a complete stranger. For me, showing a little care is all that matters.
Shared vision and action
I try to get all people engaged and also seek their ideas and recognition. Building a good team to manage a task is the other best thing I could do over and over. With the ...
1. My Legend – Brian W. Calloway January 25, 2016
It is my belief that in order for us to be more effective while serving together we must understand
one another. My Personal Leadership Philosophy will hopefully help you to know more about
my view of leadership. It starts with a simple definition:
My capacity as leader is to influence others for the greater good to successfully achieve a
shared mission or accomplish a pertinent task for the benefit of all.
I lead from the front and enjoy team building then leading a team. I will usually ask for your
input, but I tend to make decisions on the fly so stay with me to prevent any missed signals. My
purpose is not to frustrate nor intimidate, but I am always on the go and require getting things
done in a timely fashion
Where I Stand
There are a set of core values to which I adhere in every aspect of my personal and professional
life. Founded on morals passed down from my parents and reinforced through years of military
and civilian experience, I hold true to honor, courage, loyalty, respect and perseverance. Those
that I’m leading can count on my commitment to these values: HONOR – trust and integrity by
which each of us must take the moral high ground to always do the right thing. COURAGE –
implies that once we take a stand we are determined to see truth prevail. LOYALTY – to
support, stand behind and believe in each other. RESPECT – the value and contribution of each
individual is paramount to our overall success and as such, we must highly regard each other.
PERSEVERENCE – in order to overcome, adapt and improvise, we must pursue each challenge
with dedication, purpose and a determined sense of completion. Only the strong survive.
Perseverance will result in our ultimate success.
Who I am
Think of my leadership style as that of servant leader. I do enjoy being out front, but always
have you and our outcome in mind. Others can always rely upon me for support, direction and
encouragement, but don’t forget that my overriding objective is to accomplish the mission. I am
not a detail guy, although I grasp detail intuitively. I tend to analyze very little and like to take
task on full speed. My need to be involved is at times seen as micro-managing. What must be
understood is that just as I intend to serve you, I will really appreciate your willingness to keep
me informed and included. As long as I have just enough information and clear direction, you
will find me pushing to cross items off my “to-do” list. Most times that finds me being in charge
because I do like to see things successfully completed.
How I see you
Instinctively, I feel that keeping people positive, moving and focused help us work as a team.
Each individual is a crucial player in any organization I lead because I gladly delegate and
require your involvement to accomplish the mission. I expect you to do what you say you are
going to do, on time and right the first time. Since I react before analyzing at times, your
attention to detail and thorough completion of tasks is very important. Once I assign tasks, you
own it! If mistakes are made, let us ensure no repeats, but learn as we go. Keep me informed
and, please, no surprises!
2. My Quirks
I will always tend to be positive, democratic, flexible and involved. When things get difficult, I
make decisions alone, become somewhat argumentative and impatient. Do not take that as a
personal affront, just realize that I will take charge when things get tough and fall back on black-
and-white logic. Stick with me and let’s work out the challenges together in order that I return to
a more flexible, hands-off style of managing and leading.
Showstoppers
There are a few things I will not tolerate: Don’t: lie, cheat, steal, whine, gossip, or be lazy. Be on
time and this means early. Do: what you commit to, say you are sorry when it is your fault.
My Commitment
This Legend describes who I am and how I best lead. Because you are very important to my
leadership style, I welcome your input and constructive feedback in helping me to be a more
effective leader.
