The Death Of Two ( The Great Gatsby )
The death of two (The Great Gatsby)
The auburn hued leaves crunched with every miserable footstep. They scattered the ground in a
haphazard manner, not dissimilar to the state of the thoughts swirling through the mind of the lone
man, disconsolate and determined to regain a semblance of balance in his life. He strode
purposefully towards his vengeful destination. With his worn out greased overalls and his intrinsic
grey flat cap, he passed through the elaborate, elite fields of West Egg, also known as the land of
new money , embarking towards this mansion.
Located at the very end of West Egg, bordering the sound, rested the extravagant white mansion.
Stealthily, he moved towards his target, Jay Gatsby. For all George Wilson was concerned, he had
been contemplating whether or not this man was responsible for the tragic death of his beloved
wife, Myrtle. He walked further: to within the rear of the luxurious pearl white mansion. An old
piano, sat as to enamel Gatsby s supposedly elite position. Gatsby s abode was embellished with
unique russet velvety walls and glazed coffee wooden floorboards. After Wilson s entrance, via an
unlocked rear door, he imagined himself taking a drink with his girl in such a fine room, but that
possibility did not exist. This man named Gatsby had ruined it all for him.
George was a simple kind of guy. He always dreamed of living in West Egg with his wife; he
wanted the best for Myrtle. Wilson removed a crystal clear glass from a coffee table

Western View Of Human Nature
This week we have learned about four different views of human nature. The two views that I found
most interesting were the the traditional western view and the Darwinian challenge to the
traditional western view. In the Darwinian challenge, Charles Darwin argued that humans
developed from nonhuman animals. The strengths of Darwin s arguments are that he used fossils
to support his claims. The fossils are real evidence that everyone can look at and examine and they
do show how humans have developed over the years. The weaknesses of his arguments are that he
undermined the idea that living things and their parts are designed for a purpose. The next
argument I found interesting was the the traditional western view. In this view Plato argues that

Sociological Inquiry Documents How Places Are Shaped By...
Introduction A growing line of sociological inquiry documents how places are shaped by the
meanings residents construct and attach to them. Specifically, scholars have studied the symbolic
relationship between people and places and the ways that persons invest places with meaning and
value in order to make sense of their world (Borer, 2006, p. 180). These meanings have the power
to direct how and why people move to a place, how they invest their time and money, and the ways
in which they do or do not engage in civic and political action (Firey, 1945; Bell, 1994; Milligan,
1998; Paulsen, 2004; Alkon and Traugot, 2008; Kaufman and Kaliner, 2011). Because of this, it is
central to uncover how meanings are made, who specifically makes them, and how they direct
action on the ground. Questions about the sources and consequences of the meanings residents
construct are particularly salient in communities that experience an influx of new residents. The
meanings new residents attach to place do not always align with those of the longtime residents of
a community or neighborhood. The different race, class, and socioeconomic statuses of the new and
longtime residents further exacerbate these contestations. For instance, affluent newcomers often
hold the power to shape the future of the neighborhood, either by valuing the higher status local
group and uncoupling the community from the longtime residents and poor and minority groups

Primo Levi Survival In Auschwitz
An Explanation for the Holocaust Everyone who has taken a history course that goes through the
20th century knows about the atrocities performed in Nazi Germany; 11 million people
exterminated and countless others put into concentration camps with unimaginable conditions. But
most people do not try to explain how the German soldiers could do these things to other human
beings. Primo Levi in his book Survival in Auschwitz attempts to answer this question. He begins
by explaining the physical and psychological transformation of the prisoners and how that enabled
the Germans to see the prisoners as inhuman and therefore oppress able. Levi believes that the
Germans treated the Jewish prisoners horrendously because of the prisoner s... Show more content

What more concrete proof of their victory? (Levi 51)
This view of social dominance and evolutionary superiority is very in line with the views of the
Nazi Party and ordinary Germans. This hate for the Jews starts with Hitler s Ant Jewish
propaganda and the implementation of the Nuremberg laws. In Perish the Jew, Hitler puts his
views of racial superiority into writing, The Aryan regards work as the basis for the maintenance
of the national community as such; the Jew regards work as a means of exploiting other peoples
(Hitler 223). With this writing and other propaganda, Hitler successfully spread a hate for Jewish
people across the country. Hitler then created the Nuremberg Laws, which slowly but
successfully stripped the Jews of all their rights and made them second class citizens in
Germany. The Jews slowly became, in the eyes of the German people and the SS, people who
could be consciously oppressed and turned into slave workers. Obviously nothing justifies the
heinous treatment of Jews in concentration camps, but Levi gives us reasons why he believed the
SS were able to treat Jews in this way. He believed that the prisoner s appearance after a few days,
dirty and repugnant, could have been a source of the terrible treatment; it is much easier to oppress
those who look almost inhuman. Levi also believed the treatment was just another way to prove
racial superiority. The ability to completely suppress and

Foot And Mouth Research Paper
FOOT AND MOUTH: CATTLE
Key Facts
Foot and Mouth (FMD) is recognized as a highly contagious viral disease which affects cloven
hooved animals, such as cattle (Bos Taurus) (Grubman and Baxt, 2004).
The mortality rate is very low as affected animals can recover from the disease, however, due to the
loss of production and infectious state of the disease, infected animals are usually culled.
The outbreak of FMD in the United Kingdom in 2001 caused the destruction of about 6 million
animals from 9,515 farms and losses of ВЈ8 million. It then spread to Ireland, the Netherlands and
France.
Aetiology

It can also survive 14 days in dry faecal matter, 39 days in urine and up to 28 days in soil.
After infection with the FMD virus, the average incubation period in cattle is 2 14 days. The
incubation period of FMD can vary and is highly dependent on the environment, host, virus strain
and the way in which the individual got infected (e.g. inhalation or ingestion).
Diagnosis
Symptoms of FMD include:
Drop in milk production and blisters on teats
Lameness or difficulty walking due to blisters on feet
Significant increase in body temperature for 3 consecutive days
Vesicles that discharge clear or cloudy fluid
Sticky and foamy saliva
Weight loss/anorexia due to painful tongue and mouth blisters
Abortions
Heart disease and sudden death
In cattle, the clinical signs of the disease are easily confused with the symptoms of vesicular
stomatitis (Alexandersen, Zhang, Donaldson and Garland, 2003). Therefore, laboratory testing is
essential for diagnosis. Bodily fluids are taken for testing. If no vesicles can be found, fluid can
be collected by pharyngeal swabbing for virus isolation or reverse transcription PCR. Serum
(blood) samples may also be tested this way (OIE Terrestrial Manual,

The Benefits Of Marching Band
Many people can t see the benefits obtained by being in marching band. If one s social life isn t
very strong, and they aren t very extroverted, marching band is a great solution. My band, the
Deltona High School Blue Brigade, greatly encouraged bonding among band members because
band is a family, not just a musicgroup. Marching bandis also a sport. It s a team effort, requiring a
lot of physical exertion, and it gives a sense of competition. Marching band also teaches some
hierarchy, which is a useful thing to know in the workforce. Another important aspect of band is
that it s a really good experience. It may be stressful at times, but it is definitely worth it. Having
been in band for seven years, I can confirm all of this.
Because I have ADHD and Asperger Syndrome, I find it very hard to speak out and socialize. But
since I was in marching band in high school, I found that I was more social. People aren t supposed
to talk in the middle of rehearsal, but that didn t stop the members of my band from bonding
outside of practice time. Band definitely changed the life of a friend of mine. When I first met
him in middle school, he was so shy, he was virtually silent. Thanks to his experience in band, he
now often speaks his mind. Marching band can help many people become more social. After all,
band isn t just a group of people who play music. Band is a family.
A team sport includes two things: physical exertion and team effort. Marching band is both of these
things. It s

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Invoice Discobration
One of the primary credit products for working capital facilities is an overdraft. This product is
most suitable for short term borrowings, it enables a company to overdraw their current account up
to an agreed credit limit.
An overdraft is primarily utilised for the day to day expenditure of a business. It is a flexible form
of finance. The facility should be operated in such a way that the account shows good fluctuations

This method of finance is convenient for assisting clients to fund short term finance. In contrast
to a personal credit card facility for which a partial monthly payment can be made instead of the full
balance owing, a business credit card will be required to be repaid in full at the end of each month
by way of direct debit.
As a result of this method, a Bank can identify at an early stage a credit risk

In the recent times, hackers or attackers, because of technological advances, are trying to mislead
the user by various attacks. As we discussed some of the attacks in the above mentioned Type of
Attacks , now we shall look into a common process of DNS Hijacking where DNS Zoning along
with signatures and keys can be more helpful.
In the following figure , it shows the basic outline of how the domain name system acts and how
information is being exchanged in the normal conditions. Arrows indicate exchange between
systems in bi direction.
Figure 2: DNS working
When attackers enter into open WiFi or Public accessed networks, they bypass all the Proxy
configurations and steal the information from the main computer after making multiple harmful
queries and spoofing the DNS. By doing this, the whole DNS system can be cloned. After cloning
or replicating the DNS, attackers can try to create a malicious or harmful information into the user s
computer or host device.

When a user is trying to access a website, like www.cnexample2017bank.com to check the

Recommending Continued Sponsorship of the Posse Ride Essay
Recommending Continued Sponsorship of the Posse Ride
This is to recommend continued sponsorship of the Posse ride. In order to maximize the
effectiveness and profit making potential, I propose the following changes in this program 1)
Repeating successful routes. 2) Involvement of HOG members in route selection. 3) Follow up with
Posse participants
30 days after the completion of events. 4) Creating spontaneity during the ride. 5) Increased
participation of employees on the rides. These new initiatives would help us better understand
customer needs and build long lasting relationship with customers.

Reinforcement of the brand leads to more sales and profits. In addition, it provides our dealers to
generate revenue and sell merchandise at stores.
Currently only 1 in 1,000 members took part in 1999 Posse ride. Repeating successful routes
attracts new riders who have heard stories from other HOG members. Using the same route leads
to greater efficiency and builds better relationship with dealers. We could also utilize the
experience of existing riders in ironing out rough patches on existing routes and building new
routes. This would lead to active participation from members in creating new rallies and
increasing participation as well. We need to follow up with Posse participants after the rally as
well, rather than take a survey immediately after the end of the rally, we should get feedback
after 30 days. This would provide us with candid refection and input for improvement with future
rides. In order to negate the effect of overdose of Posse Rides we should add some creative
spontaneity to each event. This would provide the riders with flair of expecting the unexpected. In
order to understand and gel with the customer I recommend increased involvement of employees in
Posse rides. The involvement should not be from outside but they should actually ride with HOG
members and experience the same feeling. This would enable employees to build lasting
relationship and gather feedback from riders.
Through the Posse Ride we can

Eye Motif in Night by Elie Wiesel
The Soul s Mirror Eyes have guided mankind throughout all history, whether they allowed us to
foresee danger or helped us find our loved ones. They have granted us sight over what would
otherwise be invisible to us. When looking at someone, one can tell how they are feeling by
staring into his or her eyes. Our eyes never lie. Our eyes will often mirror our souls and display
our true inner emotions. In Elie Wiesels autobiographical narrative, Night, he uses the eye motif to
portray characters true souls. In some parts of the narrative, Night, Wiesel used eyes to display the
hope and positive emotionin characters. In the beginning of the story, eyes were used as an
indication of Moche the Beadle s calmness in the following quote. I... Show more content on

His eyes show he is still alive, but his soul s essence is dimmed and now weak; he is near death.
The following event happens before a selection and Akiba Drumer instantly gives up hope.
Suddenly his eyes would become blank, nothing but two open wounds, two pits of terror
(Wiesel 82). While Akiba may still be physically alive, his eyes show how his soul is now dead
and overwhelmed by terror; he is now a mere walking corpse. Elie and his father are seeking
shelter from the frozen temperature in the brick factory in the next scene. His eyes were
petrified, his lips withered, decayed (Wiesel 94). Elie s father s eyes show how he has been
reduced to a brittle stone that is about to crack. Elie Wiesel used eyes as a motif in his narrative,
Night, as windows to characters inner souls. He used eyes to assist the theme of surviving at all
costs throughout the story by giving the audience an insight of people s true emotions and status.
Without eyes, we would have been blind to see past characters outer layers of fake emotion. There
is more than the eye can see. One has to look deep into another s eyes to see the true light or
darkness within them.

Of Oedipus Rex s Influence On The Number 23
Oedipus Rex s Influence on The Number 23
Julia A. Meade
University of Maine
Oedipus Rex is one of the first tragedies in theatre history to be recorded, and to have survived for
present day society to appreciate. Written by one of three ancient greek playwrights, Sophocles,
this performance has paved the way for many other pieces of work (Brockett Ball, 2014). One such
work from contemporary times, The Number 23, a movie starring Jim Carrey, appears to follow a
similar, if not the same, plot as Oedipus Rex. Both pieces of work start in the middle of the
trouble; The play starts in the middle of a deathly illness that has spread across the kingdom of
Thebes, which Oedipus is ruler of, and the movie starts with Walter reading a book that seems
oddly similar to his own life. Oedipus is tasked with finding out who murdered the previous king,
since the god Apollo told Creon, Oedipus brother in law, that the murderer is the abomination in
Thebes that has caused the illness. Walter becomes obsessed with the main character of the book
he received from his wife, whose life revolves around the number 23. He tasks himself with
finding out more about the author of the book, since he believes the book was somehow written
about his own life. Both of these characters become investigators to find the truth. In Walter s
journey he finds more and more details of the book that fit details in his own life. In the book are
characters Fingerling and Isabel whom, both,

Marketing Director For Bright House Networks
Colleen Dillaway is a Sales and Marketing director for Bright House Networks. She has over 15
years of experience managing, public relations, and sales channels. She has crisis management
skills and media relations. She has a history working with ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX news.
Dillaway showed the class commercials for Bright House and explained the approaches that were
taken to reach different customers. I will apply the concepts Dillaway used and apply them to our
textbook. In chapter 13 Public Relationsand Marketing is the main focus. Marketing is the process
of researching, creating, refining, and promoting a product or service and distributing that product
or service to targeted consumers (pg. 402 3). Publicrelations are the values driven management of
relationships between an organization and the publics that can affect its success (pg.403).
Dillaway had to collect research to better understand how to gain and keep customers. In the
process of her research she was also able to better advertise Bright House services as well. For
example, Dillaway informed the class how Bright House created a commercial to aim directly at
Bakersfield customers in doing this the commercial was filmed here. Chapter 13 also defines
advertising as controlled media in an attempt to influence the actions of targeted publics. Going
back to the Bakersfield commercial, we can see the that the targeted publics was Bakersfield

Increasing the Approval Ratings for President Obama
What Should I do To Increase My Approval Rating?
Introduction
When my iPhone said The White House I thought it was the local restaurant I had made
reservations over the weekend for my parent s anniversary. There was a very stern voice that
said President Obama needs your opinion on the current approval ratings, please hold for the
President of the United States of America В¦and we thank you for your service В¦ Wow! President
Obama wanted advice on how to improve his approval rating. I laid out my three point plan I have
long been advocating throughout the debates (I have had with my family and friends).
Three Point Plan to Increase Approval Ratings The most critical area of President Obama s
approval rating has to do with the economy. To get America back to work as quickly as possible I
proposed he immediately create new venture economic opportunity zones throughout the U.S.,
concentrating on those areas hardest hit by the recession. I d focus specifically on Ohio, which has
lost hundreds of thousands of jobs. My plan would be to roll out entrepreneurial assistance to new
ventures with a solid business plan, and also a strong management team. Creating and fostering
entrepreneurialism is critical for the overall successful functioning of a complex economy such as
the U.S. (Trimi, Berbegal Mirabent, 463). I would tell him that he also needs to become known as
the Entrepreneurial Candidate, concentrating on small business and immediately removing the
many barriers

Four Inter-Family Influences Of The Indo Aryan Language
Hence if we look at all the Indo Aryan languages, one aspect if quite clear is that they are all
derivatives of Sanskrit (Sebeok, 1963) which in turn have their roots set in Greek and Latin and
made its way into Indian soil via the Indo Europeans (Sebeok, 1963). Out of all these Indo Aryan
languages, Hindiis considered to be the most progressive, as it is the most analytical followed by
Punjabi, Gujarati, Sindhi, Marathi, Bengali, and Oriya (Sebeok, 1963).
2.2.4 Inter Family Influences
No languages can be given the title of pure language being devoid of any form of influence or mix
from languages belonging to their neighbouring boundaries or languages it might have come in
contact within the course of time. With the number of language families existing in the same soil
over the number of years, there is bound to be influences of one on another. For example, the Indo
Aryan languages have quite a few Non Indo Aryan borrowings (Bagchi, Levi and Bloch, 1929). It
must be remembered that the Aryans had come into the Indian soil after the Dravidians and Tibeto
Burma family already residing in the North western regions of India. It is seen that the ancient Indo
Aryan language Sanskrit has strand of Pre Aryan languages namely, the Dravidian and Munda
language (Sebeok, 1963). While the Tibeto Burma influence is said to have come in while the
Aryans were coming in from the Northern boundaries of India. Aryans were coming in from a

Breathe Right Strip Summary
Breath Right Strips
Introduction According to the text, Breathe Right Strips were invented by Bruce Johnson, a
chronic nasal congestion sufferer. Mr. Johnson Brought his creation to CNS Inc. CNS took the
product and primarily marketed it to sports teams, nasal sufferers and night time snorers. The
product really became prominent when Jerry Rice of the San Francisco 49ers wore the product in
the Super Bowl. According to cns.com, Breathe Right Strips is also available in vapor strips, clear
and tan strips, and nasal strips for kids. Some of the other products include nasal spray, throat
spray, fiberchoice and a portable vaporizer. Armed with these few, but strong products in 1995
CNS, decided to go global.
Summary of the Facts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weaknesses are that the product is kept behind the counter of some international drug stores, thus
limiting the exposure. The Universal Product Codes on packaging aren t universal. The different
governments may have different ways of reviewing the product, and can take a few weeks to a
month to gain approval. The opportunity is that CNS has a product that may not withstand the test
of time. The CNS Company may need to look at extending their product line beyond the strips,
vaporizers and fiber tablets. They have such a limited product line. The biggest threat according to
breathe right strips is a company called gin miller. According to ginmiller.com, they have produced
nasal dilatators that are reusable. The other threat is the income of developing countries. They may
not have the disposable income to be able to buy the product.
Recommendations
The first recommendation is to implement at the end of stage one, an approval stage. Once the
product is tested and gains approval, they should make sure that they have approval from the
governments before the product launch. They should also take a look at expanding their product
line to something that people are willing to pay their money for. They could find different groups
to market the product to beyond athletes and snorers. There may be a market for the product to
people who have more of a need for the product, such as asthma,

animals well they can t. God created so many animals and He gave us authority over these
creatures of the earth and now look what we have done.
Well, you see thanks to humans, animals are now dying out at an alarming rate. Approximately
0.01 0.1 % of all species go extinct every year. According to the UN Environment Programme that
would be estimated around 150 200 plants, insects, birds, and mammals, a day. Not to mention
nearly 20,000 plants and animals are at risk of extinction. Therefore Continuation of global
warming, deforestation, polluting, overfishing and other forms of endangerment to animals may
lead to a mass extinction. However, unlike natural mass extinctions like volcanic eruptions and
climate shifts, loss of species is 1,000 10,000 times higher than the natural extinction rate and this
current crisis is almost entirely by us. For example, the Eretmochelys Imbricata or the Hawksbill
Turtle is one of the many endangered animals. The main reason why this beautiful creature is
critically endangered is because of wildlife trade. Wildlife trade is when people hunt animals for
their resources, such as turtle shells, animal furs, rhino horns, and elephant ivory. They sell them as
jewellery, clothes and other items. Many other animals besides the Hawksbill turtle is also
threatened by wildlife trade like the Amur Leopard and the Javan Rhino. Hey! what about bycatch?
Whenever there is fishing there is bycatch. Bycatch is the unintended capture of a non targeted
species such as marine turtles, seabirds, and dolphins. Usually, the creature gets entangled in the
fishing net or swallows a fishing hook and of course, the result is death. Yup, there are definitely a
lot of ways for these animals to go extinct.
Consequently, we have already talked about what animals are endangered and why they are, so let
s talk about Red Listing. And after we have talked about that we shall dive into the topic of what
would happen if all the animals went extinct. Let us start with Red Listing, The IUCN Red List of
Threatened Species is a

The main hallmark of an autosomal recessive trait is that both men and women have an equal
chance in acquiring the trait. 2. What does consanguineous mean? Why is this concept
especially important when discussing recessive genetic disorders? Consanguineous means
people coming from the same heritage. This is especially important when discussing recessive
genetic disorders because it could affect the chances of someone occupying the disease. 3. What
is it about the inheritance pattern of factor viii deficiency seen in Greg and Olga s pedigree that
point toward it not being an autosomal recessive trait? The trends point to factor viii not being
autosomal recessive trait because clearly it seems to be affecting males significantly more than
females. This would mean that the trait does not affect the males and females equally which
takes away from the hallmark of an autosomal recessive trait where they have equal chances. Part

Mark Doty s Poem Golden Retrievals
Many pet owners wonder what their pets think about or what they would say if they could talk.
Mark Doty approaches this inquiry and more through his poem Golden Retrievals, a playful yet
insightful glimpse into the relationship between pet and owner from a dog s perspective. The
literary device caesura, or installing interruptions and breaks, encompasses Doty s poem Golden
Retrievals. The breaks between thoughts allow for an interesting portrayal of the differences
between pets and humans, highlighting how humans should live in the present to improve
themselves. Doty employs caesura throughout his poem to display the dogspeaker in both a playful
light and to convey the deeper meaning of how they experience complete positivity towards... Show

However, the issue, as brought to attention by various individuals and highlighted by the barks
of dogs can be fixed. Playing on the dog breed Golden Retrievers, Doty characterizes the pup as a
means of retrieving humankind from the fears of thoughts overtaking happiness, and by
offsetting this one word, he brings a concise realization that humans need advice to live in the
present (11). The dogs try to bring their owners entirely to the present so they can receive as
much love as they provide (Doty 14). Since this word, offset in the poem, engenders a powerful
response, the speaker hopes that his actions will make a noticeable difference. The two
juxtaposed sides of this poem between playfulness and reflection of unhappiness aptly describe
humans inability to live in the moment, placing dogs above us since they discover happiness
within each day. In fact, dogs may realize their responsibility to retrieve humans from their haze
determining a possible reason why they bark: to call [their owners] here to the present (Doty 12,
13). Doty concludes the poem strongly with caesura establishing how humans should fix the
problem now, followed by a colon and the onomatopoetic use of barking bow wow (Doty 14). This
forceful end to the dog s thoughts convey the importance of change represented by the passion in the

The Aspects Of The Moral Tales In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales
In the General Prologue of Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, the Host instructs the pilgrims to tell
Tales of best sentence and moost solaas (GP 798). In other words, in order to win the contest, the
pilgrims must tell stories which both impart serious meaning/wisdom ( sentence ) as well as
entertainment ( solaas ). While the pilgrims all achieve these two goals to varying degrees, The
Pardoner s Tale seems at first to succeed very well in providing both moralteaching and
entertainment. However, while his tale effortlessly satisfies the solaas requirement, the Pardoner
cannot truly provide the sentence he aims for, as his lesson degrades into hypocrisy and he lacks
the respect from the other pilgrims necessary to afford his tale the impact he intends.
The Pardoner s Tale, an exemplum intended to demonstrate the phrase radix malorum est cupiditas
(greed is the root of all evil), tells of three riotoures (degenerates) who wish to find and kill Death.
(Pard 334, 463). A mysterious old mantells them that Death resides underneath a nearby tree, under
which the three men find a sack of gold instead. However the men do indeed find Death underneath
the tree, as they end up killing each other due to their own greed. This tale easily satisfies the solaas
requirement in its entertainment value. Firstly, the tale contains elements of mystery which make it
interesting. For example, the old man that points the three men to their demise is both
enigmatically old and inexplicably

These creators feature the improper speculation of conclusions from these examinations and

Vowels specifically seemed to be the strongest being the most stressed when pronounced among
children in normal conversation. Vowels are made with an unobstructed vocal tract and I found
that these speech sounds where the easiest to produce for the children. I also observed a child
trying to pronounce the world yellow but still having trouble making the /y/ and it sound
coming of as more of we llow. Protowords are words children make up on their own and was one
of the few things I thought I would observe. Unfortunately I was unable to find one protoword
that was clearly not a word commonly used. I found this interesting as maybe they no longer used
protowords but I decided against that idea by correlating it to the short amount of time and was
unable to catch a glimpse of a child using a protoword. The concept of cluster reduction in which a
syllable is unstressed and at time forgotten was also another aspect I felt would have been every
common to occur but was not able to observe a word. What was observed was the use of the word
that substituted with the consonant /d/ to make the sound like dat . With the sound /th/ being found
under the fricatives I assumed the child avoided using the correct sound due to the complexity of
the syllable structure.

Casino Game Roulette
Roulette
Roulette is a casino game where The House or also known as the Dealer, rolls marbles around a
spinning circle that is slanted known as a roulette wheel. The wheel consists of 38 slots. The
marble rolls and will then eventually land on one of 38 red or black slots, numbered from 0 to 36
with there being two zeros. The idea of the game is to guess where it s going to land. The lower
the chance of you guessing right, the higher the possible payout can be. Everyone places their bets
on where they think the marble could possibly land. The dealer then closes the table to betting and
the marble is rolled.

Colonialism Essay
During the period of Colonialism, the English settlers arrived in America from Europe looking for
religious freedom, land and the opportunity for wealth. While the Spanish Settlers arrived at
Hispaniola unexpectedly, like the English; however, the Spanish did not leave Europe because of
religion persecution; rather, they wanted to expand their religious belief to the New Word. While in
both the English and the Spanish colonization, the Indigenous people were oppressed and enslaved

many other aspects. The economic systems such as capitalism was derived from the earliest period
of colonialism, with the Spanish imposing taxes on the Indians and the cheap labor the Indians

Short Term Memory Analysis
One of the most important models that exists in education is how the brain learns and stores
information. Knowing this information allows teachers to plan successful lessons for students to
learn. Dr. David A. Sousa explains these two processes through a model with different visuals to
represent how the short termand long term memorystore information. The brain learns through the
senses, and in order, most people learn best through sight, then hearing, then touching. Short term
memory is what we consider to be temporary, and it has a short span of timewhere it can adequately
remember information. The short term memory can also be interrupted in the case of a distraction

The clipboard represents that we can either decide to keep the information, or easily extract it
from the clipboard and get rid of it. Then if we decide the information is important, it continues
on to the working memory. This is where we mess with the information we carry over from the
immediate memory in order to hopefully store it later. The information that makes it here is then
further broken down through two questions referring to if the information makes sense and if it
has meaning. In order for a person to store information in their long term memory, it must make
sense and connect with previous knowledge and/or have some sort of future use or connection to
the learner. The working memory is a work table because that is where we filter through, pull
apart, and work with the information we have gained to see what is worth keeping. We lastly go to
the long term storage which is represented with filing cabinets as to file it away. This information
is information we see as useful or makes an emotional connection. This is an important and useful
model because it helps teachers to understand the processes of memory in order to teach new
information, and how to plan lessons

Edgar Allan Poe Homoeroticism Analysis

Poe strives to suppress, the homoeroticism present throughout all three Dupin tales is meticulously
ingrained into the structure of the texts and unapologetically nurtured, whether it be through
individual characters behavior or through the explicit exploration of homosocial relationships
between men. What allows Dupin, the narrator, and the Minister s this foray into the realm of non

The Importance Of Cemeterys
A cemetery is a burial ground, a graveyard, a sacred place, a grieving place, and for some, a place
of communication and healing. A graveyard is a sacred area set apart to hold graves, tombs, or
funeral urns, usually located on a church s property or in a large public park (Swensen, Nordh,
Brendalsmo, 2016). Although some people are buried above ground, in most cultures around the
world, bodies are buried underground (Kearnes Rickards, 2017). A cemeteryis the last part of the
death system that an individual will encounter. Other parts of the death system include hospice
care, funeral homes, emergency medical systems, police, hospitals, nursing homes, and clergy
and coroner s offices. With cemeteries being the place where loved ones are buried, society has
put a spotlight on cemeteries. But what happens when these places of spiritual and religious
importance are labeled as haunted and become areas of high tourist interest? Savannah, Georgia is
known as one of the most haunted cities of the United States (Gentry, 2007). Along with the
obvious, noticeable graveyards spread throughout Savannah, there are also lost graveyards that are
marked using plaques (Gentry, 2007). In earlier times, the dead were buried just beyond the city
limits, areas paved over as the city expanded, which means that it is impossible to walk through
Savannah without walking on graves (Gentry, 2007, p. 223). Because of this, this previous capitol

These very appeals as well as what Fowles writes about in his article are very relatable to the
automotive industry.
Cars have been an essential part of living for some time now. Ever since mass production allowed
for the wide spread distribution of cars, they have been paramount to everything from our economy
to our daily commute. Globalization along with the growing market caused competition among
manufacturers, and so manufacturers had to find ways to appeal to the new competitive consumer
market. Automotive advertising started to take a new form and targeted peoples particular
interests, emotions, and desires instead of being strictly informative or utilitarian. Even the car
themselves had to change along with the decades to provide luxuries and compete with the market.
Although many car manufactures took steps in the right direction, one great example of this
changing market is the 1955 Ford Thunderbird.
For Ford, the Thunderbird was a luxury consumer family car platform that started in 1955. It
featured specifications that fared well in the competitive market. The Thunderbird could have
come in either four seats or two seated versions. Ford advertised the car like they would have any
other car, however, the advertising ultimately did not fit for the two car version of the car.
Because of this, the two door Ford Thunderbird is somewhat of a rarity now due to not having
been so successful. For Ford, its advertising

Great, had a dream of circumnavigating the world to finally see the ocean from both sides of the
world. There were obstacles that were in between the objective of his conquest, other civilizations
that were very foreign to his people. As commonly done in this current era of the world, the
civilizations were conquered in order to improve on to the current state of another one s empire.
Alexander the Great had intentions that were simple, to civilize the foreign nations and to leave a
long lasting legacy under his name. This task was not easy where he had to explore the middle east,
encounter the challenges that he had to go through, and exchange his model of a perfect society to
the conquered nations.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alexander was taught the way of combat by his relative grandmother. Due to the concern of
peace and arts in his son, by age 14 Alexander had a tutor by the name of Aristotle. Aristotle
taught him for over four years where he actually became a huge influence in his life where he
was ready to spread the polis ideas onto the newly conquered lands. This took place after
Alexander took in charge of the Macedonian kingdom after his father died when he was twenty
years old. However his first proving ground of military prowess was when he was simply eighteen
in his father s army leading as a general for the right wing of the army in the Battle of Chaeronea in
338 BCE. The greek s advanced military tactics combined with Alexander s wit made a lethal
combination which drove the attacking forces to retreat. It was the assassination of King Philip that
caused Alexander to inherit the throne, and ultimately to carry out the conquest of

The Is Not A Good Thing
Wouldn t it be nice to be in complete bliss every day of your life? That seems like a stupid
question to ask; of course your first response would be, duh . Everyone wants happiness in their
life, that is why most of our decisions are based on whether it will make us happy or not. This is
where we underestimate the power of going through something sad or difficult. Although nobody
searches for sadness, it is vital that we experience some sort of pain in our lives to balance the
happy times, since there are risks of pursuing extreme happiness. Sometimes we can have too
much happiness, experience happiness at the wrong time, become sad when we are looking for
happiness, or even seek the wrong kind of happiness. While you may argue that... Show more

Having too much happiness could end up giving you the same effect as a drug; the more you have,
the more you want. Being too happy consumes us, and could also come when we do not need it.
When things go wrong, we need to feel bad, it only makes sense. Feeling happy when something
bad happens won t teach you anything. If you lost your job, but you re happy you lost it, then
you ll never learn the importance of a job. We also become more gullible when we re happy. This
may cause you to miss warning signs that you need to see, causing you to trust someone more
than you should. Fear ignites the fight or flight response. So, being too happy to acknowledge
this can create many problems. For example, if I am mindlessly walking my dog down the
sidewalk, headphones in, thinking of how excited I am for the weekend, I may not notice the
sketchy car that is driving up behind me. Being happy during the wrong times could make you
overlook something important, and could even make you worse off than you were before.
I ve learned in philosophy that the more you search for happiness, the less likely you will be to
find it. Epicureans believe that if you focus on what you are doing, rather than how you feel, then
pleasure will come. One reason for this may be because you are constantly searching in other
places, so you miss what is right in front of you. For me, when I came to college I was so

Improving Customer Satisfaction Without Changing The...
This case study deals with improving customer satisfaction without changing the support cost
per call. The problem was resolved using a Six Sigma DMAIC problem solving methodology.
The basic equation of Six Sigma, Y = f(x), defines the relationship between a dependent variable
Y or the outcome of a process and a set of independent variables x or possible causes which affect
the outcome. In this case study, Y is the new account growth, whereas x is the number of transfers,
wait time, and service. The Company The subject company is an IT Call Center, which is in a
highly competitive industry due to it being the fastest growing industry in the world. With
competition being so fierce, this creates low prices in the given market. Subsequently, for an
organization to maintain market share and profitability, it must offer the best service in the market.
The call center provides services to a variety of customers such as online and telephone services.
The responsibilities of a call center are to handle questions from clients with problems. The
company purchased industry data from a clearinghouse, which gathers a variety of information
about customer satisfaction and call center technical and business performance. By comparing their
company to the industry standards, they discovered their customer satisfaction was average or
below the industry standard. The company s satisfaction rating is 73% on a 100% standardized
score, whereas the industry average is 76% and best in

Heroism In Breadcrumbs And Harry Potter And The...
It is no secret that humans are a product of their surroundings. Fictional or actual, children are
susceptible to influence from all sides, their psyche constantly being moulded as new
experiences perform rapid fire assault. In the novels Breadcrumbs and Harry Potter and the
Philosopher s Stone, authors Anne Ursu and J.K. Rowling have added enough depth to their
characters that the reader experiences a brand new person, chock full with these experiences.
The incredible 3 dimensional view each author describes lends to each character s why ; why
they go forward with their respective adventures, why they react the way they do, why they
care. Every child sees themselves as the protagonist of their story, and heroes are universally
admired. It is clear that possessing the traits of a hero is not enough, or there would be no heroes
at all heroes, especially child heroes, need to possess something special to drive an adventure
forward. Nothing makes a person or character more unique than their individual experiences.
Although Hazel and Harry are both naturally predisposed towards selflessness and kindness, it is
their respective histories of traumatic events fostering a distrust of the adult world that places them
in roles requiring acts of heroism. Hazel watches her life crumble around her because of events
predating the start of her quest, resulting in her being more guarded, more impulsive, and having
less self worth. Hazel never knew her Indian birth parents a cultural

Methods For Modifying Behavior And Behavior Modification
Methods for Modifying Behavior in Children
Behavior modification is a treatment technique used to tackle countless problems within children.
When children are born discipline and growth comes from the parents. We teach right from
wrong. Therefore, we are where the root of the behavior starts. Children must be correctly
disciplined by the age of six because if not that child would most likely be a criminal. A child
behavior rises from what they learn and their surroundings, so what we teach our children as well as
what they see is what they take with them throughout life. When parents apply these particular
elements of techniques, they can work with their children to swap improper or disagreeable
behavior. B.F Skinner proposed that behavior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Skinner created what he called an operant conditioning apparatus that later was referred to as the
skinner box. The Skinner box is a compartment that enclosed a key that an animal had access to
when they wanted water, food, or even reinforcement. Skinner was the number one believer that
children react to rewards and gifts. He believed that you had the ability to make a child do whatever
you want when you give them things.
Methods for Modifying Behavior
There are numerous of methods for modifying your children s behavior. Three of the best
methods for modifying behavior in children are rewarding, setting consequences and boundaries.
When children portray good behavior at home or in school you reward them. Whether it is gifts,
privileges, money or just letting them stay up late because they have done something good
inspires the child to continue doing well. They will then want to continue that behavior so he or
she can continue to receive rewards. Gifts or rewards should be given to children for good
behavior it shows them is they maintain good behavior they will receive rewards.
As a parent, you have to reinforce rules with children. You must show children that things given to
them as a privilege can be taken away when they misbehave or do something he or she is not
suppose to. Taking things away from a child is the number one consequence that can occur. If a
child loves a particular game system,

help scientists prove whether or not a hypothesis is correct. To begin, the scientific methoddoes
indeed help scientists prove if their hypothesis is correct. Experimentation, one of the main steps in
the scientific method helps scientists prove if their hypothesis is supported or not. Experimentation
helps test the hypothesis and prove whether or not the hypothesis is correct. According to The

Analysis Of The Book Affluenza How Overconsumption Is...
Today, Americans live in a world where we are constantly encouraged to keep up with the
Joneses whether it be from advertisment, longer shopping hours, or multiple other factors. A
surprising statistic you can find in the book, Affluenza: How overconsumption is killing us and
how to fight back, where it states that 70 percent of us visit malls each week, more than attended
houses of worship (15). Shopping has become so convenient in recent years due to online stores,
as well as the growing number of shopping centers, that it s become a problem. Kalle Lasn, co
founder of the magazine Adbusters and starter of the Occupy Movement, believes that,
Overconsumption is the mother of all of our environment problems (197). Consumers have come
to see shopping as a fun activity while spending time with friends or family. When really over
consumption of material goods ultimately leads us to unhappiness, the unsatisfied desire to want
more, and possibly put you into debt. The amount of malls and stores we have in America has
without a doubt contributed in our over consumption of material goods. Our society has come to
the point where shopping and consumer goods are more important than higher education. For
example, we spend more on shoes, jewelry, and watches than on higher education. . . . In 1986,
America still had more high schools than shopping centers. Less than twenty years later, in 2005,
we had more than twice as many shopping centers (46,438) as high schools

Titus Andronicus Quotes
In Shakespeare s Titus Andronicus, it is known as a play comprised by acts of violence and
packed with death and the destruction of others. Themes of love, revenge, power are one of the
many motivating factors. Throughout this play, the word womb have a significance aspect,
especially with the character, Lavinia. Womb is defined in the Oxford English Dictionary as The
abdomen or abdominal cavity of a person or animal; the belly/ also the anterior wall of the
abdomen; and the uterus (n). In Act II, moments before Chiron and Demetrius bring revenge on
Titus family by raping Lavinia and stabbing Bassianus, there s this violence among the sons of the
Empress. The violence and sexuality revealed by them shows a part of their mother s rage... Show

In this specific scene it portrays the gruesome vaginal genitalia images that remind us of the kind
of brutality and abuse that Lavinia s body has just went through. The pit is being used to show
the dark side of sexual brutality and inhumane desire. It draws upon the horror of rape and
depiction of the violation and destruction of women in a society ruled by men. Lavinia s mouth,
pouring from blood, seems to act upon the swallowing womb of Act 2. As they forced their way
into her and snatched away her chastity, this displays the source of male power and manly

  • 2. The Death Of Two ( The Great Gatsby ) The death of two (The Great Gatsby) The auburn hued leaves crunched with every miserable footstep. They scattered the ground in a haphazard manner, not dissimilar to the state of the thoughts swirling through the mind of the lone man, disconsolate and determined to regain a semblance of balance in his life. He strode purposefully towards his vengeful destination. With his worn out greased overalls and his intrinsic grey flat cap, he passed through the elaborate, elite fields of West Egg, also known as the land of new money , embarking towards this mansion. Located at the very end of West Egg, bordering the sound, rested the extravagant white mansion. Stealthily, he moved towards his target, Jay Gatsby. For all George Wilson was concerned, he had been contemplating whether or not this man was responsible for the tragic death of his beloved wife, Myrtle. He walked further: to within the rear of the luxurious pearl white mansion. An old piano, sat as to enamel Gatsby s supposedly elite position. Gatsby s abode was embellished with unique russet velvety walls and glazed coffee wooden floorboards. After Wilson s entrance, via an unlocked rear door, he imagined himself taking a drink with his girl in such a fine room, but that possibility did not exist. This man named Gatsby had ruined it all for him. George was a simple kind of guy. He always dreamed of living in West Egg with his wife; he wanted the best for Myrtle. Wilson removed a crystal clear glass from a coffee table ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Western View Of Human Nature This week we have learned about four different views of human nature. The two views that I found most interesting were the the traditional western view and the Darwinian challenge to the traditional western view. In the Darwinian challenge, Charles Darwin argued that humans developed from nonhuman animals. The strengths of Darwin s arguments are that he used fossils to support his claims. The fossils are real evidence that everyone can look at and examine and they do show how humans have developed over the years. The weaknesses of his arguments are that he undermined the idea that living things and their parts are designed for a purpose. The next argument I found interesting was the the traditional western view. In this view Plato argues that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Sociological Inquiry Documents How Places Are Shaped By... Introduction A growing line of sociological inquiry documents how places are shaped by the meanings residents construct and attach to them. Specifically, scholars have studied the symbolic relationship between people and places and the ways that persons invest places with meaning and value in order to make sense of their world (Borer, 2006, p. 180). These meanings have the power to direct how and why people move to a place, how they invest their time and money, and the ways in which they do or do not engage in civic and political action (Firey, 1945; Bell, 1994; Milligan, 1998; Paulsen, 2004; Alkon and Traugot, 2008; Kaufman and Kaliner, 2011). Because of this, it is central to uncover how meanings are made, who specifically makes them, and how they direct action on the ground. Questions about the sources and consequences of the meanings residents construct are particularly salient in communities that experience an influx of new residents. The meanings new residents attach to place do not always align with those of the longtime residents of a community or neighborhood. The different race, class, and socioeconomic statuses of the new and longtime residents further exacerbate these contestations. For instance, affluent newcomers often hold the power to shape the future of the neighborhood, either by valuing the higher status local group and uncoupling the community from the longtime residents and poor and minority groups (Logan and Molotch, 1987; Anderson, 1990; Smith, ... • 5. Primo Levi Survival In Auschwitz An Explanation for the Holocaust Everyone who has taken a history course that goes through the 20th century knows about the atrocities performed in Nazi Germany; 11 million people exterminated and countless others put into concentration camps with unimaginable conditions. But most people do not try to explain how the German soldiers could do these things to other human beings. Primo Levi in his book Survival in Auschwitz attempts to answer this question. He begins by explaining the physical and psychological transformation of the prisoners and how that enabled the Germans to see the prisoners as inhuman and therefore oppress able. Levi believes that the Germans treated the Jewish prisoners horrendously because of the prisoner s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What more concrete proof of their victory? (Levi 51) This view of social dominance and evolutionary superiority is very in line with the views of the Nazi Party and ordinary Germans. This hate for the Jews starts with Hitler s Ant Jewish propaganda and the implementation of the Nuremberg laws. In Perish the Jew, Hitler puts his views of racial superiority into writing, The Aryan regards work as the basis for the maintenance of the national community as such; the Jew regards work as a means of exploiting other peoples (Hitler 223). With this writing and other propaganda, Hitler successfully spread a hate for Jewish people across the country. Hitler then created the Nuremberg Laws, which slowly but successfully stripped the Jews of all their rights and made them second class citizens in Germany. The Jews slowly became, in the eyes of the German people and the SS, people who could be consciously oppressed and turned into slave workers. Obviously nothing justifies the heinous treatment of Jews in concentration camps, but Levi gives us reasons why he believed the SS were able to treat Jews in this way. He believed that the prisoner s appearance after a few days, dirty and repugnant, could have been a source of the terrible treatment; it is much easier to oppress those who look almost inhuman. Levi also believed the treatment was just another way to prove racial superiority. The ability to completely suppress and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Foot And Mouth Research Paper FOOT AND MOUTH: CATTLE Key Facts Foot and Mouth (FMD) is recognized as a highly contagious viral disease which affects cloven hooved animals, such as cattle (Bos Taurus) (Grubman and Baxt, 2004). The mortality rate is very low as affected animals can recover from the disease, however, due to the loss of production and infectious state of the disease, infected animals are usually culled. The outbreak of FMD in the United Kingdom in 2001 caused the destruction of about 6 million animals from 9,515 farms and losses of ВЈ8 million. It then spread to Ireland, the Netherlands and France. The incubation period of FMD can vary and is highly dependent on the environment, host, virus strain and the way in which the individual got infected (e.g. inhalation or ingestion). Diagnosis Symptoms of FMD include: Drop in milk production and blisters on teats Lameness or difficulty walking due to blisters on feet Significant increase in body temperature for 3 consecutive days Vesicles that discharge clear or cloudy fluid Sticky and foamy saliva Weight loss/anorexia due to painful tongue and mouth blisters Abortions Heart disease and sudden death In cattle, the clinical signs of the disease are easily confused with the symptoms of vesicular stomatitis (Alexandersen, Zhang, Donaldson and Garland, 2003). Therefore, laboratory testing is essential for diagnosis. Bodily fluids are taken for testing. If no vesicles can be found, fluid can be collected by pharyngeal swabbing for virus isolation or reverse transcription PCR. • 7. The Benefits Of Marching Band Many people can t see the benefits obtained by being in marching band. If one s social life isn t very strong, and they aren t very extroverted, marching band is a great solution. My band, the Deltona High School Blue Brigade, greatly encouraged bonding among band members because band is a family, not just a musicgroup. Marching bandis also a sport. It s a team effort, requiring a lot of physical exertion, and it gives a sense of competition. Marching band also teaches some hierarchy, which is a useful thing to know in the workforce. Another important aspect of band is that it s a really good experience. It may be stressful at times, but it is definitely worth it. Having been in band for seven years, I can confirm all of this. Because I have ADHD and Asperger Syndrome, I find it very hard to speak out and socialize. But since I was in marching band in high school, I found that I was more social. People aren t supposed to talk in the middle of rehearsal, but that didn t stop the members of my band from bonding outside of practice time. Band definitely changed the life of a friend of mine. When I first met him in middle school, he was so shy, he was virtually silent. Thanks to his experience in band, he now often speaks his mind. Marching band can help many people become more social. After all, band isn t just a group of people who play music. Band is a family. A team sport includes two things: physical exertion and team effort. Marching band is both of these things. It s ... Using the same route leads to greater efficiency and builds better relationship with dealers. This would lead to active participation from members in creating new rallies and increasing participation as well. We need to follow up with Posse participants after the rally as well, rather than take a survey immediately after the end of the rally, we should get feedback after 30 days. • 12. Eye Motif in Night by Elie Wiesel The Soul s Mirror Eyes have guided mankind throughout all history, whether they allowed us to foresee danger or helped us find our loved ones. They have granted us sight over what would otherwise be invisible to us. When looking at someone, one can tell how they are feeling by staring into his or her eyes. Our eyes never lie. Our eyes will often mirror our souls and display our true inner emotions. In Elie Wiesels autobiographical narrative, Night, he uses the eye motif to portray characters true souls. In some parts of the narrative, Night, Wiesel used eyes to display the hope and positive emotionin characters. In the beginning of the story, eyes were used as an indication of Moche the Beadle s calmness in the following quote. I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Suddenly his eyes would become blank, nothing but two open wounds, two pits of terror (Wiesel 82). While Akiba may still be physically alive, his eyes show how his soul is now dead and overwhelmed by terror; he is now a mere walking corpse. Elie and his father are seeking shelter from the frozen temperature in the brick factory in the next scene. His eyes were petrified, his lips withered, decayed (Wiesel 94). Elie s father s eyes show how he has been reduced to a brittle stone that is about to crack. Elie Wiesel used eyes as a motif in his narrative, Night, as windows to characters inner souls. He used eyes to assist the theme of surviving at all costs throughout the story by giving the audience an insight of people s true emotions and status. Without eyes, we would have been blind to see past characters outer layers of fake emotion. There is more than the eye can see. • 13. Of Oedipus Rex s Influence On The Number 23 Oedipus Rex s Influence on The Number 23 Julia A. Meade University of Maine Oedipus Rex is one of the first tragedies in theatre history to be recorded, and to have survived for present day society to appreciate. Written by one of three ancient greek playwrights, Sophocles, this performance has paved the way for many other pieces of work (Brockett Ball, 2014). One such work from contemporary times, The Number 23, a movie starring Jim Carrey, appears to follow a similar, if not the same, plot as Oedipus Rex. Both pieces of work start in the middle of the trouble; The play starts in the middle of a deathly illness that has spread across the kingdom of Thebes, which Oedipus is ruler of, and the movie starts with Walter reading a book that seems oddly similar to his own life. Oedipus is tasked with finding out who murdered the previous king, since the god Apollo told Creon, Oedipus brother in law, that the murderer is the abomination in Thebes that has caused the illness. Walter becomes obsessed with the main character of the book he received from his wife, whose life revolves around the number 23. He tasks himself with finding out more about the author of the book, since he believes the book was somehow written about his own life. Both of these characters become investigators to find the truth. In Walter s journey he finds more and more details of the book that fit details in his own life. President Obama wanted advice on how to improve his approval rating. I laid out my three point plan I have long been advocating throughout the debates (I have had with my family and friends). Three Point Plan to Increase Approval Ratings The most critical area of President Obama s approval rating has to do with the economy. To get America back to work as quickly as possible I proposed he immediately create new venture economic opportunity zones throughout the U.S., concentrating on those areas hardest hit by the recession. I d focus specifically on Ohio, which has lost hundreds of thousands of jobs. My plan would be to roll out entrepreneurial assistance to new ventures with a solid business plan, and also a strong management team. Creating and fostering entrepreneurialism is critical for the overall successful functioning of a complex economy such as the U.S. (Trimi, Berbegal Mirabent, 463). Four Inter-Family Influences Of The Indo Aryan Language Hence if we look at all the Indo Aryan languages, one aspect if quite clear is that they are all derivatives of Sanskrit (Sebeok, 1963) which in turn have their roots set in Greek and Latin and made its way into Indian soil via the Indo Europeans (Sebeok, 1963). Out of all these Indo Aryan languages, Hindiis considered to be the most progressive, as it is the most analytical followed by Punjabi, Gujarati, Sindhi, Marathi, Bengali, and Oriya (Sebeok, 1963). 2.2.4 Inter Family Influences No languages can be given the title of pure language being devoid of any form of influence or mix from languages belonging to their neighbouring boundaries or languages it might have come in contact within the course of time. • 21. Persuasive Speech On Endanger Of Animals Thank you, thank you for polluting the air, clogging the oceans, destroying forests and contaminating our ecosystems. We may be able to control where pollution and waste go, but animals well they can t. God created so many animals and He gave us authority over these creatures of the earth and now look what we have done. Well, you see thanks to humans, animals are now dying out at an alarming rate. Approximately 0.01 0.1 % of all species go extinct every year. According to the UN Environment Programme that would be estimated around 150 200 plants, insects, birds, and mammals, a day. Not to mention nearly 20,000 plants and animals are at risk of extinction. Therefore Continuation of global warming, deforestation, polluting, overfishing and other forms of endangerment to animals may lead to a mass extinction. However, unlike natural mass extinctions like volcanic eruptions and climate shifts, loss of species is 1,000 10,000 times higher than the natural extinction rate and this current crisis is almost entirely by us. For example, the Eretmochelys Imbricata or the Hawksbill Turtle is one of the many endangered animals. The main reason why this beautiful creature is critically endangered is because of wildlife trade. Wildlife trade is when people hunt animals for their resources, such as turtle shells, animal furs, rhino horns, and elephant ivory. They sell them as jewellery, clothes and other items. Many other animals besides the Hawksbill turtle is also threatened by wildlife trade like the Amur Leopard and the Javan Rhino. Hey! what about bycatch? Whenever there is fishing there is bycatch. Bycatch is the unintended capture of a non targeted species such as marine turtles, seabirds, and dolphins. Usually, the creature gets entangled in the fishing net or swallows a fishing hook and of course, the result is death. Yup, there are definitely a lot of ways for these animals to go extinct. Consequently, we have already talked about what animals are endangered and why they are, so let s talk about Red Listing. And after we have talked about that we shall dive into the topic of what would happen if all the animals went extinct. Let us start with Red Listing, The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species is a ... Why is this concept especially important when discussing recessive genetic disorders? Consanguineous means people coming from the same heritage. What is it about the inheritance pattern of factor viii deficiency seen in Greg and Olga s pedigree that point toward it not being an autosomal recessive trait? The trends point to factor viii not being autosomal recessive trait because clearly it seems to be affecting males significantly more than females. This would mean that the trait does not affect the males and females equally which takes away from the hallmark of an autosomal recessive trait where they have equal chances. Mark Doty approaches this inquiry and more through his poem Golden Retrievals, a playful yet insightful glimpse into the relationship between pet and owner from a dog s perspective. The literary device caesura, or installing interruptions and breaks, encompasses Doty s poem Golden Retrievals. The breaks between thoughts allow for an interesting portrayal of the differences between pets and humans, highlighting how humans should live in the present to improve themselves. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the issue, as brought to attention by various individuals and highlighted by the barks of dogs can be fixed. Playing on the dog breed Golden Retrievers, Doty characterizes the pup as a means of retrieving humankind from the fears of thoughts overtaking happiness, and by offsetting this one word, he brings a concise realization that humans need advice to live in the present (11). The dogs try to bring their owners entirely to the present so they can receive as much love as they provide (Doty 14). Since this word, offset in the poem, engenders a powerful response, the speaker hopes that his actions will make a noticeable difference. The two juxtaposed sides of this poem between playfulness and reflection of unhappiness aptly describe humans inability to live in the moment, placing dogs above us since they discover happiness within each day. In fact, dogs may realize their responsibility to retrieve humans from their haze determining a possible reason why they bark: to call [their owners] here to the present (Doty 12, 13). Doty concludes the poem strongly with caesura establishing how humans should fix the problem now, followed by a colon and the onomatopoetic use of barking bow wow (Doty 14). The Aspects Of The Moral Tales In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales In the General Prologue of Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, the Host instructs the pilgrims to tell Tales of best sentence and moost solaas (GP 798). In other words, in order to win the contest, the pilgrims must tell stories which both impart serious meaning/wisdom ( sentence ) as well as entertainment ( solaas ). While the pilgrims all achieve these two goals to varying degrees, The Pardoner s Tale seems at first to succeed very well in providing both moralteaching and entertainment. However, while his tale effortlessly satisfies the solaas requirement, the Pardoner cannot truly provide the sentence he aims for, as his lesson degrades into hypocrisy and he lacks the respect from the other pilgrims necessary to afford his tale the impact he intends. The Pardoner s Tale, an exemplum intended to demonstrate the phrase radix malorum est cupiditas (greed is the root of all evil), tells of three riotoures (degenerates) who wish to find and kill Death. (Pard 334, 463). A mysterious old mantells them that Death resides underneath a nearby tree, under which the three men find a sack of gold instead. However the men do indeed find Death underneath the tree, as they end up killing each other due to their own greed. This tale easily satisfies the solaas requirement in its entertainment value. Firstly, the tale contains elements of mystery which make it interesting. For example, the old man that points the three men to their demise is both enigmatically old and inexplicably ... • 42. The Is Not A Good Thing Wouldn t it be nice to be in complete bliss every day of your life? That seems like a stupid question to ask; of course your first response would be, duh . Everyone wants happiness in their life, that is why most of our decisions are based on whether it will make us happy or not. This is where we underestimate the power of going through something sad or difficult. Although nobody searches for sadness, it is vital that we experience some sort of pain in our lives to balance the happy times, since there are risks of pursuing extreme happiness. Sometimes we can have too much happiness, experience happiness at the wrong time, become sad when we are looking for happiness, or even seek the wrong kind of happiness. While you may argue that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having too much happiness could end up giving you the same effect as a drug; the more you have, the more you want. Being too happy consumes us, and could also come when we do not need it. When things go wrong, we need to feel bad, it only makes sense. Feeling happy when something bad happens won t teach you anything. If you lost your job, but you re happy you lost it, then you ll never learn the importance of a job. We also become more gullible when we re happy. This may cause you to miss warning signs that you need to see, causing you to trust someone more than you should. Fear ignites the fight or flight response. So, being too happy to acknowledge this can create many problems. For example, if I am mindlessly walking my dog down the sidewalk, headphones in, thinking of how excited I am for the weekend, I may not notice the sketchy car that is driving up behind me. Being happy during the wrong times could make you overlook something important, and could even make you worse off than you were before. I ve learned in philosophy that the more you search for happiness, the less likely you will be to find it. Epicureans believe that if you focus on what you are doing, rather than how you feel, then pleasure will come. One reason for this may be because you are constantly searching in other places, so you miss what is right in front of you. For me, when I came to college I was so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the novels Breadcrumbs and Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone, authors Anne Ursu and J.K.
