That is, they do not show up in a chemical test or under a microscope. There are
medical tests that can be run to detect cancer, AIDS, Alzheimer s disease; but there is
no medical test for detecting depression. Within these abstract symptoms, some are
more abstract than others, in that they rely on a patient conveying information that
paints a picture of a symptom, rather than something that is readily observable by a
third party. For example, a fear reaction is detectable due to physiological

Abstract
In this experiment we wanted to determine the optimal temperatures for fungal,
Aspergillus oryzae, and bacterial, Bacillus licheniformis. In order to see if any of the
starch was broken down, Iodine was mixed with the starch amylase substance. In four
spot plates, the groups labeled the different temperatures, once the iodine came in
contact with the starch, the result would be a reaction that turns the fluid into this
dark blue/black color. In a span of 10 minutes, with occasional check ups on the
solution every 2 minutes, the amylase starch solution was placed into five types of
temperature, all being Celsius. The five temperatures were 0 degrees, 25 degrees, 55
degrees, and 85 degrees Celsius. The solution would change colors, so in order to
measure the changes, a scale was used. Such scale was a 1 5 scale, with colors next
to each number. One being the lightest color, or yellow, and 5 being the darkest
color, or black. Based on the change of color, we could tell how fast it hydrolyzed
the starch in a span of 10 minutes. To keep record of the results, the results were put
in Data Tables used from the Lab Manual. The average optimal temperature for
Bacteria Amylase was 85 degrees Celsius, while the Fungal was 55 degrees Celsius.

Bertha Flowers is through social learning. When Marguerite gets home from
visiting Mrs. Bertha she uses the phrase, by the way. Her momma immediately
gets mad at her and tells her she is going to go get a switch. Marguerite has no idea
what she did to get a switch. We can assume that she learned the phrase from
interacting socially with someone who had used that phrase in front of her and
because the phrase was not used in a bad way she did not see any harm in using it.
To momma using the phrase was using Jesus or Gods name in vain. This is an
example of social learning because the phrase meant two different things to two
different people. Marguerite learned the phrase in a different way than momma
did and it ended up getting her into trouble. This is kind of similar to the bobo doll
theory. Marguerite used the phrase, because she had heard other people say it in a
non harmful way so she thought it was ok to use the phrase the way she did.
Momma was taught that the phrase was bad by someone she had learned it from so
she learned that the phrase should not be used. Since the phrase was bad to momma

Imagine a world of chaos. We see things like that all the time in movies, where
zombies roam the earth and there are just those few main survivors left. The world
is in ruins. If ocean life was to die out, there would be a collapse of civilization as a
whole. Just like we see on TV, the world would become a place where no order
exists. This would lead to human extinction. The ocean dies, we die along with it,
and if sea turtles die, so does the ocean. In simple words, one could say that human
life depends on sea turtles. In this speech I will be covering three topics. First, how a
sea turtles diet benefits marine life and humans, second, how sea turtles provide
homes and food for other species, and last, how sea turtles protect beaches from
washing away.
Sea turtles have been a big help in maintaining the health of the world s ocean for
more than 100 million years. They help by keeping up coral reefs all the way to
transporting nutrients to beaches. Major changes have occurred in oceans
everywhere due to the decline of the sea turtle population. Oceans are unhealthy
because of this. It is time for us to protect the sea turtles and rebuild their

In August of 1861, William F. Ketchum patented the Ketchum Hand Grenade. Shortly
after, in the years of 1863 and 1864, the grenade was implemented in the American
Civil War.
With a lemon shaped piece of iron and a tail made of paper or cardboard, the
handheld explosive greatly resembled a dart. On the front of the grenade s body
was a plunger, which held a percussion cap filled with explosive material.When the
the grenade fell onto its nose and applied pressure to the plunger, an explosion was
triggered, only to be met by more gunpowder inside. Although the resulting explosion
caused a great deal of mayhem and shrapnel, it was not very reliable because its
detonation depended on the grenade falling directly onto its nose. Because of its
temperamental behavior, the grenade got a reputation for not being very accurate.
During its use by the Union army, the weapon was still in its earliest stages.
Although the Confederate army did not adopt this specific weapon, they had similar
ideas such as the Raines grenade, which was similar in appearance, but completely
