16. Interim Disability Assistance Programme for the Elderly
(IDAPE)
• This is a government assistance scheme for needy and disabled
elderly Singaporeans, who are not eligible for ElderShield because
of their age or pre-existing disabilities.
• Payout from IDAPE = $100 or $150 a month, for a maximum
period of 72 months.
• Criteria to meet to make a claim under IDAPE :
– Unable to perform 3 or more of the 6 ADLs
– Aged 70 and above as at 30 September 2002. If aged 40 to 69 years
as at 30 September 2002, disability must occur before 30 September
2002.
– Per capita monthly household income* is less than $1000.
* Per capita monthly household income means the total monthly household income divided by the
total number of persons in the household.

• This Policy shall terminate on the earliest of the following events:
i. the expiration of the grace period and outstanding premiums remain unpaid;
ii. the death of the Life Assured;
iii. if a claim has been admitted, on the expiry of the Benefit Payout Duration of the
Severe Disability Benefit or the Rehabilitation Benefit, as applicable,
iv. revocation, surrender or cancellation of the Policy; or
v. the Basic ElderShield Policy is lapsed due to non-payment of premiums or is
terminated by the Assured with the exception of the following condtions:
i. If premiums for this policy has been paid before the request to terminate
the basic ElderShield policy, this policy will only lapse at the next premium
due date.
ii. If a claim has been made under this policy, and payment for the Severe
Disability or Rehabilitation Benefit are still being paid at the time the Basic
ElderShield Policy is lapsed due to non-payment of premiums or is
terminated by the assured. Once the claim payout ceases and the basic

deteriorates to 3 ADL?
Assuming the Life Assured is covered under a $1,000 per month benefit plan with 12-year benefit payout

Assuming his condition worsens to 3 ADL after receiving 1 year of payout from MyCare Plus, he
