The document summarizes the installation and testing of a CO2 vaporizer. It describes how a forklift was used to position the vaporizer after a crane failed due to height limits. Drilling and shims were used to level the vaporizer on uneven ground. Railings were added for safety. Fittings including valves, tubing and connectors were selected and installed. Testing showed no leaks up to 75 barg pressure. The vaporizer is currently in operation with a pallet.
2. Part (a) Positing for Vaporizer
The crane had assisted with the CO2 vaporizer positioning in CGRS as shown below but it
failed to position it into the CGRS due to roof height issue. To amend the issue, by using the
forklift, CGRS operator are able to move the vaporizer into the CGRS plant without
exceeding the roof height limits. The position of the vaporizer are meant to be nearby to a
drain so that droplets formed from the CO2 liquid can be conveniently drained.

3. Part (b) Ground Drilling for Vaporizer
To tighten the vaporizer onto the ground, our mainetance team do for drilling for each sides
(total of 4 side) in order for the placement of bolts, nuts and washers. After the tightening, the
water level balancing is off the aligment and after some obresvations, it is seen that the there
is a gap between the vaporizor and the ground at two sides as shown below. To compensate
for the differ in ground heights, our mainetance team put a shim beneath the vaporizer before
putting the bolt. In the end, the water level balancing is shown with a normal reading.

6. Part (c) Railing for Vaporizer
The railing is installed at 3 sides of the vaporizer to prevent any collision onto the vaporizer
from pallet or forklift.

8. Part (d) Vaporizer’s Fittings and costing
Justification:
Inlet connection:
SS)Shut-off valve:
Firstly, to turn on the gas flow of CO2 through the vaporizer during refilling operation.
Secondly, to turn off the gas flow when changing pallet connection from depleted pallet to
filled pallet, this is to ensure safety purpose by preventing the backflow of gas from the
vaporizer.
2) Vent/Purge valve
First, to safety vent out all the remaining gas and liquid which remained inside the tubing
during the time period between after switching off the gas flow and before changing the
pallet connection. Second, to purge the residual moisture and contamination.
3) Relief/ Safety valve:
To prevent the vaporizer from being overpressurized.
9. Outlet connection:
SS)Temperature gauge (exist with vaporizer)
To monitor and ensure that all the CO2 are in gas phase by refering to the phase diagram of
CO2 (Pressure-Temperature graph) as shown below.
2) Check valve
To prevent backflow of gas into the vaporizer at all times.
*The specification for all fittings and tubing is stated as below
The outlet connection doesn’t need a venting valve since the CGRS mixed gas refilling itself
is provided with one as shown below.
