trainers.
 Working class
 Sad, criminal, individual (disobedient and
an outlaw).
 Dark hair, tall and dominant.
 Wants to break free from prison to return
to his family
Camerawork & Editing
 We intend to use a fluid camera utilizing lots
of steadicam shots with an especially
detailed attention paid to cinematography
and an extensive use of natural light akin to
the films of Terrance Malick and the work of
Emmanuel Lubezki.
 The editing will be slow in keeping with the
genre tropes of folk apart from the opening
which will feature hard jump cuts to the beat
of the opening lines ‘Time, time, time’
Setting
 Prison
 Colours – grey and dark/dull colours fitting the title.
Blue flashing sirens representing the police
contrasting it.
 Running through large empty open spaces of a
field in the early morning as he's trying to get away
and escape- this also represents him being alone.
 Average dirty streets and alleyways throughout
the video and set in violent, crime filled areas.
 Winter- grey and cloudy skies. Perhaps leaves on
ground.
Themes
 Crime – theft and violence.
 Struggles of life – positives becoming
negatives.
 Loss- he wishes to return to his family
Props
 Pocket watch – represents passing of time
 Alcohol bottle to show his addiction
 A gun to represent threat and violence
 Money – gain or loss of it (crime and
addiction)
 Clothing – simple dull hoodie, jeans and
trainers
 Photo of family
Genre Characteristics
 The video will feature the common Folk
trope of heavy narrative in its story driven
approach and clear character arc
 Slow pace, relaxed editing, plain colours
