And Then There Were None
•  The director of ‘And Then There Were None’ is Craig Viveiros.
•  Release dates – 26th December - 28th December 2015.
•  3 episodes.
•  Format is a series.
•  Genre is Crime.
Narrative Structure
•  The narrative structure used foreshadowing to create tension,
for example the hanging rope is foreshadowing Vera
Claythorne’s death in the last episode. Also, the poem about the
10 soldiers is foreshadowing the upcoming deaths of each of
the people in the house.

the recorder of the
murders that each of
the people committed.	
  
The appeared death of the judge
and Dr. Armstrong disappearing.
The falling action would be the
deaths of Phillip Lombard and
Vera Claythorne, but also the
confession of Wargrave.
The montage of each of
the characters background
and previous jobs.
Vera put her head through the hanging
rope and then the judge walked in,
showing he wasn’t dead and showing
that he was the murderer, he then
doesn't’t help Vera and he then shoots
himself.
Anthony Marston takes a
drink and falls down dead,
and then Mrs. Rogers
doesn't’t wake up the next
morning.
Technical Editing - Sound
•  The drama used non-diegetic sound towards the beginning of the episode
when the worker was typing letters, very intense music was used to create
tension and make the audience question what is going to happen. The
drama used diegetic sound to also create tension within the characters
and also the the audience, for example, when they are all sat around the
table eating, you can hear the noises of their cutlery, which causes a sense
of tension as the only noise that is heard is the cutlery and not the people
talking.
Technical Editing - Camera
•  The drama uses close ups towards the beginning of the episode when Vera Claythorne gets the job
as the secretary, but she finds out it is as Solider Island, the does a close up on her face to show
her facial expression and how she looks almost scared at the thought, this creates tension and
confusion for the audience as it is making them question why she has a problem with Solider Island
and what is it making her not want to go.
•  The drama uses a high angle when Roger’s is throwing lobster into a giant hole, it pans upwards
until it almost a birds eye view and all you can see is the tiny figure of Rogers compared to huge
hole.
•  The drama uses a point of view shot when Vera is on the train and she is looking at something and
it cuts to the blind rope as that is what she is looking at, this particular scene uses a sense of
foreshadowing in terms of it looking like a rope you would use to hang yourself, so it is
foreshadowing her hanging herself.
Technical Editing - Editing
•  The drama uses the montage technique towards the beginning of the programme
when the worker is writing the letters to each of the people, but also, it keeps
cutting to each of the people and their background so it is a montage as it saving
space and time.
•  Shallow focus is used when they are all on the train heading towards Soldier
Island, and Vera Claythorne is in focus but in the background Phillip Lombard is
blurry but still in shot.
•  Flashbacks are used throughout the 3 episodes of the drama to show each of the
characters backgrounds and what has made them a murderer, particularly
focusing on Vera Claythornes background at Soldier Island with the little boy who
drowned.

  • 2. And Then There Were None •  The director of ‘And Then There Were None’ is Craig Viveiros. •  Release dates – 26th December - 28th December 2015. •  3 episodes. •  Format is a series. •  Genre is Crime.
  • 3. Narrative Structure •  The narrative structure used foreshadowing to create tension, for example the hanging rope is foreshadowing Vera Claythorne’s death in the last episode. Also, the poem about the 10 soldiers is foreshadowing the upcoming deaths of each of the people in the house.
  • 4. Story Arc Beginning Middle End Exposition Inciting incident Rising Action Crisis Climax Falling Action Resolution Accusations made by the recorder of the murders that each of the people committed.   The appeared death of the judge and Dr. Armstrong disappearing. The falling action would be the deaths of Phillip Lombard and Vera Claythorne, but also the confession of Wargrave. The montage of each of the characters background and previous jobs. Vera put her head through the hanging rope and then the judge walked in, showing he wasn’t dead and showing that he was the murderer, he then doesn't’t help Vera and he then shoots himself. Anthony Marston takes a drink and falls down dead, and then Mrs. Rogers doesn't’t wake up the next morning.

Technical Editing - Sound •  The drama used non-diegetic sound towards the beginning of the episode when the worker was typing letters, very intense music was used to create tension and make the audience question what is going to happen. The drama used diegetic sound to also create tension within the characters and also the the audience, for example, when they are all sat around the table eating, you can hear the noises of their cutlery, which causes a sense of tension as the only noise that is heard is the cutlery and not the people talking.

Technical Editing - Camera •  The drama uses close ups towards the beginning of the episode when Vera Claythorne gets the job as the secretary, but she finds out it is as Solider Island, the does a close up on her face to show her facial expression and how she looks almost scared at the thought, this creates tension and confusion for the audience as it is making them question why she has a problem with Solider Island and what is it making her not want to go. •  The drama uses a high angle when Roger’s is throwing lobster into a giant hole, it pans upwards until it almost a birds eye view and all you can see is the tiny figure of Rogers compared to huge hole. •  The drama uses a point of view shot when Vera is on the train and she is looking at something and it cuts to the blind rope as that is what she is looking at, this particular scene uses a sense of foreshadowing in terms of it looking like a rope you would use to hang yourself, so it is foreshadowing her hanging herself.
  • 7. Technical Editing - Editing •  The drama uses the montage technique towards the beginning of the programme when the worker is writing the letters to each of the people, but also, it keeps cutting to each of the people and their background so it is a montage as it saving space and time. •  Shallow focus is used when they are all on the train heading towards Soldier Island, and Vera Claythorne is in focus but in the background Phillip Lombard is blurry but still in shot. •  Flashbacks are used throughout the 3 episodes of the drama to show each of the characters backgrounds and what has made them a murderer, particularly focusing on Vera Claythornes background at Soldier Island with the little boy who drowned.
