2. General concept
 The main narrative for this music video is about a young couple who fall in love but
start to realise the strains in their relationship. The singer lip syncs part of the song
in a room by himself. The video consists of flashbacks and present day clips, these
clips show the young couple happy but also sad. This video includes filters to show
the difference in mood between clips. The name ‘waves’ itself represents the
emotions constantly changing, one minute they are happy and then they are sad
again. The relationship is hard to maintain but because they love each other they
can’t give up.

3. Opening sequence
The opening sequence for this music video gives the audience a clear idea of the mood
of the video. The first two shots are very cold and lonely. The singer is in the room by
himself facing away from the camera, this shows his withdrawal from the situation. The
next shot shows the young couple in bed facing away from each other, this has an
implication of lack of love. Normally a couple would be touching each other however
this shot is very cold and unloving.

4. Close ups
 Close ups are used throughout this music video to show the audience the emotion in
the actors faces. Normally these close ups show how cold and lonely they look, this cool
tones on their faces also conveys this. This is something that Georgia and I would like to
use in our music video.

5. Warm and cool tones
 This music video uses filters over footage to add warm or cool tones to a certain
sequence. The warm tones are used in happy scenes, this indicates to the reader a
happier time. The cool tones are used in sad scenes. This is a technique used to
subtly tell the audience how to feel in particular scenes. This is something that
Georgia and I are planning to use in our music video.

6. Props
 This music video uses props to tell part of the narrative of the song. The two main
examples are the necklace and tattoos, the tattoos are used throughout as an
identifier for the girl. The necklace is used to represent their relationship, the
necklace was given in a happier time in their relationship but it is also shown in
sad times. This shows that their love is still there throughout the hard periods.

7. Fast editing
 During the chorus there is fast editing on the beat, this shows a passing of time
because it is in one of the ‘happy periods’ of the song. The warm tones and quick
edits show that them times are gone but they are still clear in his mind when he is
reminiscing.
