3. Relationship between lyrics and visuals.
In a shot which starts at 0:34 we
can see him running away from
something but does not seem to
be going anywhere which has a
strong relationship in amplifying
the lyrics “Girl I tried to run, but
couldn’t get too far”.
A second shot I noticed, which starts at
1:16 first off shows a pair of legs and we
can also see heels and it quickly shifts to
a close up shot of a woman. This again
amplifies the lyrics “Now here come
them legs, here comes those eyes.”
4. Genre’s have their own video style/iconography.
The style of this video is one of narrative,
which is not typical of this genre. A
feature of
this video which is typical of this genre
is an old style band and backing singers.
5. Voyeurism in the treatment of women.
In this video there isn’t any evidence of voyeurism in
particular, but the woman is portrayed instead as sexy and
promiscuous.
Both of these shots show that voyeurism of the female lead is not
evident as there are no full body shots of her scantily clad,
they just portray “the vixen”
6. Close ups of main artist/vocalist.
This video clearly demonstrates this point as there are many
close up shots of the main artist throughout the video.
This shot at 1:01 shows an editing
technique in which there are many
repeated shots of the main artist
in one main shot, thoroughly
cementing the artists image in the
audiences minds.
This shot occurs very soon into the music
video at 0:21. This close up shot shows
the artists name, but also “the lead” in a
blue colour which contrasts with the
black and white video, emphasising the
artist.
