• Provide continuity between scenes

• Provide additional narrative from outside the visual scene

Sounds
Actual sound or sound that comes from the
narrative. Doesn’t need to be seen.
Examples:
Character dialogue
Object sounds to make a film more realistic. E.g.,
footsteps on gravel as character walks, ambient noise
of traffic outdoors or sound of
Music from within the film to support audience
absorb a scene. E.g., music playing in a club / bar or
in the car. This kind of diegetic sound is also called
“diegetic music” or “source music.”

Exercise
Choose a film clip from the given folder
Using Logic X or similar DAW create Diegetic and
Non diegetic soundtracks to support the clip.
Consider Sound FX, foley, film score/soundtrack
and the tempo of the scenes.
Provide hit points that work successfully using
sound effects, foley and /or soundtrack.
You should aim to provide at least one hit point
using synthesis and one using sampling
techniques.
Export the completed track with your audio.
