2. vocal genre
Vocal music is a type of music performed by
one or more singers, with or without
instrumental accompaniment.

3. Instrumental genre
An instrumental is a musical composition or
recording without lyrics.
The music is primarily or exclusively
produced by musical instruments.

4. Vocal and
instrumental
genre
This kind of genre applies to music that
requires a combination of voices and
instruments.

5. Religious genre
This is music composed to be played in a
religious music, depending of whether or not it
is part of the liturgy. Religious music could be
liturgical music or non-liturgical music.

6. Profane genre
This comprises any composition that serves no
religious purpose, whether liturgical or non-
liturgical, and which is used for entertainment
or for cultural or educational purposes. We
can divide profane music into two categories.

7. Functional genre
This genre applies to music that serves as a
backdrop to important events, such as
commemorations, shows and opening
ceremonies. The Olympic hymn is an example
of this genre.

8. Cinematographic genre
This is when motion picture sound tracks are
used to reinforce the film's message,
maximising te sentiments and emotions in th
script.

9. Theatre genre
Stage music is used in artistic expressions
acted out on a stage, as in plays, operas,
zarzuelas, musicals, ballet and dance.

10. Publicity genre
Used for radio and TV ads, this genre employs
in the same way films do. It tries to get people
to choose certain products by combining
pictures and suggestive music to catch the
attention of potential buyers.

11. Dance genre
Dance music is music composed specifically to
facilitate or accompany dancing. There are
many types of dancing:
Street dance
classic dance
contemponary dance
folkloric dance
etc...

12. jazz genre
Jazz is a genre of music that originated
in American communities in the United
States. As jazz spread around the world, it
drew on different national, regional and
local musical cultures, giving rise to
many distinctive styles.
