Profane genre is any music that serves no religious
purpose,whether liturgical or non-liturgical and it
is used for entertainmentor or for cultural or
educational purposes.

We can divide it in two categories:

-Popular music: folk music which includes popular
folk music from a specific area,handed down from
one generation to the next;light musi c that
includes any simple,easy-to-
undersatnd,mainstream music of a marked
commercial character.

-Cultured music: it is a cultural context,these
compositions are written in a specific period.
Functional genreFunctional genre

It applies to music that serves as a backdrop
to important events,like
commemorations,shows and opening
ceremonies. With ‘functional’ music we refer
to music where it’s effect is used with a
purpose.
Cinematographic genreCinematographic genre
●
It's when the motion picture sound tracks
are used to reinforce the film's
message,maximising the sentiments
and emotions in the script. It also
refers to the method of categorizing
films based on similarities in the
narrative elements from which films
are constructed.
Theatre genreTheatre genre

Theatre music refers to a wide range of music
composed or adapted for performance in
theatres. Genres of theatre music include
opera, ballet and several forms of musical
theatre, from pantomime to operetta and
modern stage musicals and revues.
