Multiple intelligences An Educational Theory Presented by  Ashley Parkin
What Is It? As human beings, we don’t have a single type of intelligence – people can be “smart” in many different ways and can acquire knowledge through numerous channels.
Who Came Up With It? Howard Gardner Went to Harvard to study history, but graduated with a interest in psychology and the social sciences Published his theory in his book Frames of Mind (1983)
The 8 Types of Intelligence
How is it Used in Education Teachers can present information to students in a variety of methods and don’t have to be confined  to teach in one particular style
The Consensus PROs cons More options for teachers to present info effectively Encourages students to build on strengths for success No such thing as being “stupid” and no dwelling on failure Not enough concrete evidence of it working in a classroom environment Students don’t work on improving weaknesses Education should be meaning-based and not confined to meet a certain “smart-type”
