The document discusses motivation and demotivation in the workplace. It defines motivation and explains that it produces goal-oriented behavior and determines effort levels. Motivation can be intrinsic, coming from within, or extrinsic, involving rewards and punishments. People become demotivated due to factors like unrealistic workloads, conflicts with colleagues, and a lack of vision or fair treatment. Motivation can be improved by setting clear goals, encouraging employee input, acknowledging achievements, and creating a supportive work environment.

Our self-esteem is very dependent on factors within our environment. It is formed as a result of our years of experiences (especially the early ones). It could be said that one's eyes and ears record the messages they receive from others, especially those most important to them. Because one's unconscious accepts all words and emotions as facts no matter how legitimate or based in reality, one's self-esteem is being continuously constructed and reconstructed by what is encountered in the mirror of others verbal and nonverbal messages.
Motivation can be defined as the internal drive that compels us to take action. It is the desire to achieve a goal or reach a desired outcome. We can motivate ourselves by setting achievable goals, breaking down tasks into smaller, more manageable chunks, and rewarding ourselves for small successes. We can also try to focus on the posi...

WHY ALWAYS
ME?
The feeling is

Hi guys, I’m XYZ, and today we will have a session on Motivation. Before we start lets discuss the session objective.
So today we will learn about what is Motivation, its importance, various types of motivation techniques used by various individuals, Why do people gets demotivated, and last but not the least, how to over come the challenges and motivate oneself again
So friends lets start with a fun activity. I will show you some images and your job is to tell me which depicts a motivated person and which depicts a demotivated person. So Here comes the first image
Yes guys it’s a demotivated person and the reason is,” “. Lets see the next image
So what do you think. Yes guys it’s a demotivated person and the reason is,” “. Lets see the next image
Guys, it’s a motivated person because …… Lets see the next image
So what do you think, Motivated/ Demotivated???. Yes my dear friends it’s a thought of a motivated person because,…. Come lets see the next picture.
So what do you think. What is a leaf saying, Guys it’s an friend or a colleague or Boss motivating that a person…. Come lets watch the next image
Yes guys it is an image of a demotivated person as…… Lets watch the next image.
Yes my dear friends this is the image of a demotivated person as….. Lets go for the next image
So guys had enough, what do you make of the final image. Yes my dear friends it’s a sign of a motivated person as….. With this we would conclude this activity, come lets understand what is motivation
So guys lets not go by the textbook definition, lets understand what is motivation, from the activity we could understand that motivation is more of the mindset of a person, whether the person is in the right frame of mind to do some job. Lets say, you have an exam in 20 days, normally we don’t give much importance to study seriously, but as the date of exam comes near we get serious about our studies and prepare seriously for our exam. So in a nutshell, the feeling that drives us from within to do a task is motivation.
Normally, motivation is an unending process, we need it all our life to do one or the other work assigned to us.
Its is important for each and every person in an organisation, as without proper motivation it is really difficult to achieve the desired goal, because a demotivated person gets frustrated at whatever he/she does.
But a person who is motivated enough will be a performing asset for any organisation.
So guys now lets learn about the importance of motivation, why should a person be motivated all the time.
Its just because a person who is interested to do any task will give their best and do their task brilliantly.
Motivated employees means they turn over for their job and it leads to less absenteeism and longevity in the organisation.
It improves the team bonding and employee relation which leads to working as a team, and my friends if we work as a team, we will complete any task which is assigned to us.
So guys now come lets know about the various types of motivation.
So basically motivation can be Positive/ Negative and Intrinsic/Extrinsic.
Positive Motivation are the factors which helps us to do any task with a good frame of mind but there are also things which makes us scared to do some work, they are Negative motivation.
Intrinsic are the internal feelings which compel us to do a specific task and the external factors which motivates us are Extrinsic Motivation.
Come lets learn about them in details.
So as you can see a motivated guy will always be confident and will think that they can do whatever task is assigned to them but if you are not motivated enough, no matter how many tools you have with you, there is always a doubt in your mind that You are not good enough.
As you can clearly see that we get motivated if there is a reward on the table, but if we are afraid of something then we wont be able to give our best.
Incentives rather than punishment motivates a person.
If there is cooperation among colleagues then we will be able to achieve whatever task is assigned to us but not without it.
The mood is generally jovial if we have a positive mindset but frustration creeps in when motivation evaporates from the equation.
If we are motivated we accept challenges but if we are not we run away from it.
Now come lets learn about intrinsic and extrinsic factors of Motivation.
There are various factors which push us to do our work, it can be some internal motivations like fame, status, power, etc or some motivations like incentives, bonus, etc.
So the things that motivates us for our own sake are intrinsic motivation and those done for acquiring materials benefits are extrinsic motivating factors.
So from this quadrant, we can see that if the motivation is positive and intrinsic, we can easily complete any work assigned to us because we do it out of passion.
But when the motivation gets negative, no matter how scared we are we wont be able to do the job.
There are also situations in life when we want to do some work but due to some negativity in our mind we are unable to be motivated enough to do a specific task
So friends lets do something fun.
Hi guys, there is a picture, try to understand it first and then please write 5 lines on what you understood from this image and send it to me.
The best piece of writing will be “Awarded”.
Please also mention what form of motivation did I use in order to get the make you complete the assignment.
Guys, Lets take a break of 3 mins and then we will again continue with the session,
So now lets come back to our topic, So friends now lets wonder why does we get demotivated, Is it always we are at fault for getting distracted or is it something or someone else that pulls us away from our job. Come lets see.
Okay, so first comes Lack of Flexibility.
Its not just the problem of the employee but also the mistake of the employer,
As much as an employee needs to be flexible to do any kind of work assigned to them, the organisation may be flexible when it comes to provide flexibility in time and place of work.
Constantly keeping an employee under watch leads to lot of negative thought.
In the majority of cases, money is merely one part of an employee’s motivation.
Most people want to have clear career objectives in place to feel that there is progression for them within their organization.
Career visioning can be a useful process in setting clear, long-term goals for an employee so that they can proactively work towards projected outcomes.
If an employee feels that their efforts are not being recognized or appreciated, they’ll soon begin to lack energy and commitment in their role.
It’s important to celebrate successes and give credit where credit’s due.
Organizations should ensure that achievements are rewarded – even if it’s just with a pat on the back.
Regular training and development opportunities can help boost employee motivation and engagement.
Most employees will value ongoing learning potential and the sense that they’re expanding and improving their skills and knowledge.
If a workplace feels stagnant, non-progressive and uninspired – your employees’ motivation levels will soon go for a toss.
Get regular feedback from your team to see where increased training or development opportunities would be best placed and appreciated.
Effective leadership is an essential factor in the motivation of your staff.
If strong leadership is lacking or is negatively affecting the outlook of the team – certain employees may start to feel demoralised.
Leaders must have a flexible, inclusive approach to managing a team and be able to communicate clearly to instill confidence and focus.
If a particular team or individual is lacking motivation in your business, it may be due to a lack of good management.
Conflict in the workplace is hugely damaging. It not just affect 2 individuals but the whole team is distracted because of it.
Healthy debate is often productive, but it’s important to keep an eye out for any workplace intimidation or bullying.
Some employees may feel worried to come forward about issues relating to a fellow colleague - which is where an anonymous employee survey may help to reveal any problem areas.
It’s important to keep a check on the expectations and demands that are being placed upon your employees.
If someone feels overburdened by large, impossible workload – they can soon become disillusioned, stressed and lose motivation.
Equally, if an employee has a workload that’s too light or not varied enough, they might quickly lose interest.
We learnt about how employees gets demotivated at workplace, but there should be some solution for these problem.
What to do in order to enhance effectivity of a team or individual worker.
Lets see what can be done in order to boost effectiveness at workplace
Every organisation has a fixed goal, so the employees working in the organisation should be aware of it in order to work in a sync with the organisation.
Lets say in a game of football, if the roles of all the players are not defined, will they be able to score a goal, will they be able to win a game let alone a championship.
As in case of a game, an organisation wont fulfil its potential, same as the employees working in it.
It’s not easy working for a company where no one is allowed to speak their mind, even if they know that they have valuable insights that can help the company.
Entrepreneurs, although they may have business advisers, should also seek suggestions from the employees because they are the ones who ultimately complete the work and get the revenue.
Over everything else we live in a democracy, in fact the largest democracy in the world.
Everyone deserves to be heard.
And to be partial to a specific gender, race, or religion is absolute discrimination and absolutely no place in a secular country like India where everyone is given equal opportunity.
The company should treat each and everyone equally.
The workplace should be able to value individual differences so that they may feel welcome and accepted.
It doesn’t costs much.
Just by appreciating someone’s effort and hard work we will be able to bring a smile to a person’s face and increase the longevity of an employee.
It will also act as an catalyst for others to get the job done in order to get reward and recognition.
Guys what do you think, why is it necessary for a friendly work environment?
It has been a tied and tested method that people work better when they are relaxed, which subsequently leads to higher efficiency.
They will also work better as a team if they have cordial relation compared to how they will work if they have animosity among them.
A little competition among the employees should be done in regular basis.
A competitive environment is a productive environment.
Encourage employees to participate in competitions or challenges as it is healthy and may actually lead to increased camaraderie.
Friendly competition amongst teams helps with employee engagement and employee participation.
Last but not the least Self Motivation is our inner force which constantly drives us to do the things, develop and move forward in the best possible way. Its always about Yes I can, because if you say you can do it, no matter what others thinks, you will be able to achieve it.
So in the end, in order to have a successful career we need to be highly motivated in life and have to work on the above model in order to proceed further in life in a positive manner.
As we can see from this image, how a motivated employee will have a great attitude for his/her job, will be able to come up with various innovative ideas.
As the employees will be cordial among one another they will help each other and will support them in order to complete any given task.
The performance of the team will be very high when there is a team bonding among the employees.
Better performance leads to success and ultimately the team will be able to achieve their goals.
So in order to achieve any target all the employees of an organisation needs to be highly motivated.
If one wheel comes of the wagon then it will completely derail the organisation into abyss.
So guys I would like to know what do you understand from this picture, Please share your views for your next assignment. In life there will always be factors which will demotivate us and there will be times where we will be motivated enough to succeed, the only way we can move forward if we balance the positive in our favor compared to the umpteenth negative feelings supressed in our life. I would like to conclude this session with a positive note along with a motivating picture
In life, Perspective matters, how you think will leads to what you will achieve.
