VIBE is an 8-week summer program that empowers middle and high school students to become more actively involved in their communities. Students learn about community planning, the built environment, and how to effect positive change. Each week focuses on a different planning topic through seminars with guest speakers and field trips. The goal is to spark youth curiosity about planning, help them think critically about their surroundings, and provide leadership skills so their voices can influence decisions. The program aims to bring together diverse youth and expose them to future career options in planning and related fields.
This is an abbreviated version of a presentation given as part of a Residency program for graduate education students earning their Superintendent's letter.
The document provides instructions for a project where students will research an important person from history or current events and design a cereal box about that person. Students must include the person's name on the front of the box along with a quote from them on one side panel and random facts about them on another side panel. The back of the box must include a short biography of the person highlighting their accomplishments and importance.
This document outlines the steps for a middle school community project using project-based learning. It involves students working in groups to identify issues in their local community, gather data on the issues, develop potential solutions to present to local government. The steps include setting the context, brainstorming issues, collecting evidence through photos, preparing presentations, and presenting their proposed actions to classmates and government. Students will then reflect on what they learned and what could be improved. The goal is for students to use critical thinking to develop ways to enact positive change in their own community.
This document summarizes the learning portfolio assignment that Christine D'Onofrio implemented in her VISA 110: Introduction to Digital Visual Art course over two years. The initial goals of the assignment were to promote transformative learning, distinguish disciplinary methods, and cultivate student mindfulness of online self-representation. Based on student feedback, D'Onofrio realized she needed to refocus the assignment from a showcase portfolio to emphasize reflection on learning. She made changes like having students use the university platform and adding an assignment for students to generate research questions.
This project plan aims to have 8th grade language arts students explore how their identities and behaviors affect how others perceive and interact with them. Students will observe how they are treated in different social contexts and personas. They will analyze stories and notice how characters are defined by themselves and others. Students will create a press kit to raise awareness of biases against teenagers and how teens can positively impact perceptions. The timeline outlines lessons in defining oneself and others, social experiments comparing normal and altered personas, and a narrative assignment for students to reflect on their experiences and learning. Assessment tools evaluate students' abilities to analyze characters, make inferences from texts, and write narratives with details.
The document discusses interactive and participatory documentaries that use social media. It defines documentaries as providing opportunities to witness other lives from the same historical time period. It then discusses the key elements of an interactive documentary project, including having a clear concept or theme, planning production, post-production which includes testing, completion, and evaluation. The document provides guidance on each stage of creating an interactive documentary using social media.
The document provides guidance for several challenge-based learning projects focused on using technology and digital resources in primary education. It outlines seven proposed challenges: 1) bridging generational gaps, 2) connecting science, technology and audiovisual language, 3) improving the immigrant experience, 4) increasing arts and music in schools, 5) creating mobile libraries, 6) celebrating storytelling traditions, and 7) helping others develop digital skills. For each, it provides an overview, challenging question, guiding questions, suggested activities and resources. The overall document aims to provide educators with ideas and support for student-led challenge-based learning projects.
Sloan Anderson is proposing a senior project to organize a presentation by local agencies addressing women's empowerment issues. The presentation would cover topics like body image, verbal abuse, gender stereotypes, societal gender roles, and sisterhood. Sloan plans to contact local agencies and women with experience in empowerment to speak. Sloan will find a location and date, advertise the event, hold the presentation, and create a scrapbook documenting the process. This project is a learning stretch for Sloan, who has no prior experience planning such an event. The estimated costs are $100, which Sloan plans to fund through donations. Sloan is considering Jill Glen as a facilitator given her expertise working with and empowering young girls

Someone's Done that Already: The Best Practices of Sharing Best Practices, pr...craigslist_fndn
We want to get the job done right now. Immediately. Now as in last week. But what if someone already figured out a great roadmap for success? This session explores resources for discovering and sharing best practices, including the politics of hoarding or sharing best practices.
The document provides suggestions for incorporating social justice and mitzvot (good deeds) into the classroom curriculum including:
1) Experiential learning activities like taking students to volunteer at a soup kitchen to see firsthand how their good deeds can help others.
2) Inviting older student and community volunteers to speak about their service experiences.
3) Giving students a choice in the type of social causes and volunteer projects they work on based on their interests and strengths.
4) Providing encouragement and incentives to motivate students to participate in service projects.
Do you want to make learning come alive? Have students see Judaism as relevant and exciting? This session will explore methods to incorporate service learning and the values of chesed, tzedakah and tikkun olam into the school curriculum and culture.
Gamification, Makerspaces, Minecraft: The Classroom of the Future is NowDouglas Kiang
What Does the Classroom of the Future Look Like?
Educators worldwide are looking at diverse models for the future classroom, ranging from the most innovative college and university spaces, to models of industry and dot-com startups. Perhaps more important than what the future learning space looks like, however, is what students are being asked to do to demonstrate their learning. In this talk, catch a glimpse of what a future classroom might look like, in both its curriculum and its physical space. Come explore the DIY “Maker” movement, and what it might mean for the future. Take a look at how companies like Google foster creativity and innovation, and see what kids’ visions of a “learning center” might look like. Finally, we’ll look at an original way to create stronger community in the classroom using the popular game Minecraft as a virtual learning environment.

In this webinar, we introduce the concept of translanguaging in the EFL classroom which is the simultaneous use of more than one language to make meaning. Through the presentation, we will provide examples of how teachers have used translanguaging practices to help students learn English. These examples are taken from observations and research done in Puerto Rico and Peru. It will also be discussed the role that Spanish has played in EFL classrooms and how it has been used to bridge the gap between two languages.

In many English language programs, learners of multiple proficiency levels are grouped together in the same class. Teachers face the challenge of achieving course objectives and meeting the diverse needs of their students. This webinar addresses these challenges and offers classroom strategies to facilitate language learning for students of different levels. Participants will also come away with tips for simplifying planning and managing multi-level classes.
In this webinar, we address some challenges that students with learning differences, such as dyslexia, may endure during their foreign language studies, while offering practical advice on how to offer guidance and assistance. For students with learning differences such as dyslexia, instruction needs to be explicit, direct, and cumulative. Students with learning differences also greatly benefit from a student-centered classroom that is engaging and incorporates multi-modal learning approach to language learning. While the suggestions in this webinar are developed for students with learning differences, they are teaching practices that can support the academic success of all students.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can
