Most Embarrassing Moment Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of one's most embarrassing moment can be a daunting task. The
challenge lies not in the scarcity of material, but rather in the willingness to open up and share a
personal experience that may be uncomfortable or awkward. Recalling such moments requires a
level of vulnerability that many may find challenging.
Additionally, crafting an engaging narrative around an embarrassing incident demands careful
consideration of tone and audience. Striking the right balance between humor and sincerity is
essential, as the aim is not only to recount the embarrassing moment but also to connect with the
reader on a human level. It's crucial to avoid turning the essay into a mere retelling of events;
instead, the writer must delve into their emotions, thoughts, and reflections during and after the
embarrassing incident.
Another difficulty arises from the potential judgment or scrutiny that comes with sharing
personal stories. Writers may grapple with the fear of being misunderstood or perceived
negatively by their audience. This fear can hinder the honest and authentic portrayal of the
embarrassing moment, making it challenging to convey the full impact of the experience.
In essence, the difficulty in writing an essay on the most embarrassing moment stems from the
delicate balance required to make it both relatable and insightful. The writer must navigate
through the discomfort of revisiting the embarrassing memory while ensuring that the narrative
resonates with the reader. It's a task that demands introspection, creativity, and a willingness to
embrace vulnerability.
If tackling such a personal and sensitive topic seems overwhelming, it's worth noting that there
are resources available to assist with essay writing. Services likeHelpWriting.net provide
support for various types of essays, ensuring that individuals can obtain well-crafted pieces
without the stress of tackling challenging topics alone.

Advantages Of Quality Product And Process Design
1.0Introduction Chapter 6 is Quality Product and Process Design. There are several
topics to be discussed which are the designing products for quality, the design process,
Quality Function Deployment (QFD), technology in design, prototype, design for
reliability and environmental considerations in design. This chapter is going to focus
on quality assurance. The purpose of this assignment is to understand clearly about
the concept of product and process design for quality, the method being used in
designing products quality and apply the concept or method in real case. 2.0
Discussion 2.1 Designing Products for Quality In the stage of designing product,
quality assurance is an important process in assessing to sustain with the requirement
standard. When designing the products, the company must identify the functions of
the products that meet customers need, the cost of production, any inadequacy of
materials and better materials to replace it. Design products for quality indicates to
attain with the eight quality dimensions by David Garvin. For example,
serviceability is a significant dimension for laptop, then the design team has to
examine the ways to repair in a lower cost. Kano Quality Model (Figure 2.1)
developed by Professor Noriaki Kano who clarified how the quality of the products
meet the customer requirements and satisfaction. The model... Show more content on

One of the benefits of QFD is customer driven. This help the companies to focus on
the voice of the customers. Besides, QFD allows the companies to analyze the
competitors products and services in the market place. Another benefit is lowering
the cost and time for development. There will be required minimum changes in the
middle process of production. QFD also enables the companies fostering the
teamwork. Organization functions such as marketing and sales team, engineering
team and production team need to work together. They have to communicate and find
action at
Going Look At The Stars
Go look at the stars. Now look at the paper. Now look at the stars. Now look at the
paper. Now take one last look at the sky and count the number of visible stars. Not
many, right? The problem of being a miniscule part of a vast Universe is our
incapability to observe and understand the Universe, especially with the naked eye.
Even in ancient Greece, people observed the skies, understanding it in order to
locate their relative positions and noticing the movements of the sun and the moon.
Many believe that a Greek cosmology does not form until the Pre Socratic works of
600 B.C.E., but there are signs that point to the Greek tradition of epic poems as a
means of communicating astronomical information, the first of which was written
down by Homer, who is considered the first epic poet (Hetherington 54, Murnaghan
l). Before delving into Homer s poems, it is important to first understand the history
of Greek civilization because his poems reflect several historic periods spanning
hundreds of year. After 2000 B.C.E. Greek speaking people arrived in what we call
Greece, establishing the Mycenaean civilization, which thrived, becoming rich with
powerful cities that were military strongholds and international trade centers
(Murnaghan l). Through their trade with nearby islands, they adopted a syllabary
system of writing from the Minoans, who flourished on the island Crete (Murnaghan
l). However, the next evidence of Greek writing is not seen until the Phoenician
alphabet is
Elizabeth Margaret Marberry s Dandelion Wine
Although Elizabeth Margaret Marberry never explicitly provides a personal
critique for Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine, the reader can infer some of her
opinions about the book in her descriptions of the story, themes and meaning, and
context. Marberry, for instances, writes the book is structured through the
thematic interrelation of a series of vignettes taking place over the course of the
summer of 1928 in the small, idealized Midwestern town of Green Town, Illinois
(Marberry 295) expressing her believe that Dandelion Wine varies from the
traditional narrative. When she stated the idealized Midwestern town, she implied
that a town with the characters of Green Town simply does not exist. At the end of
her summary of the story, Marberry declares that at the end of the story, Douglas
has completed his journey (Marberry 296) suggesting he learned all he could learn
that summer and would no longer go on adventures. Elizabeth Margaret Marberry
concludes her critique by stating, it is a mixture of idealization ad realistic portrayal
of the coming of age that makes these works so appealing to young and old readers
alike (Marberry 297; Marberry 295 297).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Never really thinking about what it feels like to be alive, Douglas led to me to
question why? Why do people exist? Why does every situation hold both a
positive and negative affect? Why does my family not have as many traditions as
the Spauldings? How come I never realized that I feel different, more alive, in the
summer than the winter? Why? Through Douglas, Bradbury encourages the readers
of Dandelion Wine to reflect upon their lives and figure out the answers for
themselves. I appreciate an author who, instead of simply telling a story, forces his
readers to think and reflect on his or her own life. I rate Dandelion Wine an eight
out of ten and desire to read numerous other books by Ray Bradbury and other similar
Essay about to build a fire
In the short story, To Build a Fire by Jack London shows how man vs. nature and
how inexperienced traveler in the Yukon tries to travel alone with his dog, even
though it s advised not to. Yet he is stubborn and thinks he is right, and sets off for
Henderson Creek to meet his friends. He faces many different conflicts of man verses
man, and man verses nature.
The traveler is advised not to make this trip with the lack of his inexperience in the
Yukondue to the weather, the incoming storm, and its advisories. With the subzero
freezing cold temperatures that came with the storm. Fifty degrees below zero stood
for a bite of frost that hurt and that must be guarded against by the use of mittens, ear

In fact, he carried nothing but the lunch wrapped in the handkerchief. He was
surprised, however, at the cold (561 562).
The traveler is keen enough to pick up on the timber jams in the river. He shows
that he does have skills even though he is inexperienced in the Yukon, and that he is
well focused on his objective to travel the Yukon to see his friends. He was keenly
observant, and he noticed the changes in the creek, the curves, and bends and the
timber jam, and always he sharply noted where he placed his feet (563). Also, he
picks up on other hot springs and things within the terrain from being observant and
careful.
The traveler starts to show just how inexperienced he is and how he really lacks
the street smarts in the Yukon, when he builds the fire underneath a spruce tree
along the edge of the tree line. He had to build the fire because the cold was getting
to him and he needed to warm up after falling through the ice. HE was not smart,
instead of putting the fire out in the open or further out without anything to come
down on it to put it out, it was a lack of common sense. It was as though he had just
heard his own sentence of death. For a moment he sat and stared at the spot where
the fire had been. Then he grew very calm (565). He then tries to move the fire out
into the open, but knows that the kindling is saturated with water from the snow
falling on the fire, it became useless. He now realizes he is in trouble. Well, it was

The Pros And Cons Of Smuggling
Smuggling is the illegal transportation of objects, information or people, such as
out of a house or buildings, into a prison, or across an international border, in
violation of applicable laws or other regulations . Diplomats and officials involved
in drug smuggling have benefited from diplomatic immunity via the diplomatic
bag. For example, a Venezuelan general wanted in the United States on drugs
charges and arrested in Aruba was released after the Venezuelan government
protested his diplomatic immunity and threatened sanctions if Aruba did not
release him It is of note that the Sterling submachine gun used to shoot dead WPC
Yvonne Fletcher from inside the Libyan Embassy in London was smuggled out of
the United Kingdom in one of 21 diplomatic bags in 1984 . In 2012, a 16 kg
shipment of cocaine was sent to the United Nations in New York in a bag
masquerading as a diplomatic pouch while in January 2012, Italy detected 40
kilograms of cocaine smuggled in a diplomatic pouch from Ecuador . A diplomatic
bag, also known as a diplomatic pouch, is a container whose contents are protected
from searches or seizure by the provisions of Article 27 Vienna Convention. The
diplomatic bag is to be naturally used to carry official correspondence or other items

The Civil War Museum Of New Orleans
The Civil War museum located in New Orleans is a very interesting museum to
visit. On the outside the museum stands out from the surrounding building as it has
an older brick style building which almost looks like a church in some aspects.. On
the right side of the stairs that lead up inside is a large cannonon display. Upon
entering the museumit is made apparent that the building is in good condition, but
is also very old. Every step that I took while in the museum sounded as if the floor
was about to cave in underneath my feet. I was greeted upon entry to the museum
and I paid my entry fee and was given a sheet of paper with some general
information on the museum. Once leaving the desk I walked along the wall to my
left which was covered in glass cases that contained a multitude of civil war
artifacts. The first thing that stood out to me was a small set of hand carved
wooden chess pieces. They were kept in great condition, along with the bag that
held them, aside from one hole in the bag itself. Above the glass cases were Civil
War flags for different regiments with a particular focus on the Louisiana based
regiment. Once I looked at the array of flags on left wall I focused my attention
back to the glass cases again. The further down the wall I progressed the more
personal items I came across. Uniforms and tokens given to soldiers from both the
Confederates and the Union soldiers were on display with plaques inside giving

Settlement Mechanisms Implemented In relation to dispute settlement it becomes
apparent that there is a need for the utilization of dispute settlement mechanisms.
The advantages of these mechanisms seem to outweigh the disadvantages in the
sense that these mechanisms are considerably cheaper than having to go through
the process of litigation. Also there is the added bonus of the speed with which
these settlements can be handled with. This is clearly a necessary factor for
companies which require disputes to be handled speedily in relation to time
constraints and budgetary considerations. The process of control offered to parties
by these procedures is a significant factor to consider in relation to business owners
and companies who are more accustomed to running their businesses than having
their disputes being handled by the strict court process and discretion of a judge.
The reasoning for the various stages that has been included in the Dispute
Settlement Clause follows. 1.Negotiation Negotiation is a relatively informal
process involving the discussion of some or all of the issues in a case with a view
to resolving them on agreed terms. The process may be quite simple, or may involve
substantial use of strategy and tactics. Negotiation
Essay on Roberto Baggio
Roberto Baggio was born on February 18, 1967 to his mother Matilde and his
father Fiorindo, in the small Italian town of Caldogno which is located north of the
city of Vicenza. His brothers and sisters are Gianna, Walter, Carla, Giorgio, Anna
Maria, Nadia, and Eddy. Roberto had much freedom as a child. His father often
took him to a soccer field where he stayed until late evening. Roberto s passion for
soccer was evident. Roberto started his soccer career in his home town of Caldogno,
at the age of nine. His first coach, Gian Pero Zenere, saw for the first time the
greatness in Roberto. He had become a star. A scout named Antonio Mora
persuaded Roberto to play for Vicenza, then a club in the serie C1 league. The fee
was $500. The first... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Juventus where he played in 33 matches in the 1990 91 serie. In that same year his
wife gave birth to their first child, Valentina, on December 2 1990. 1992 93 was
Roberto s best year. He also lead Juventus to the UEFA Cup in that year. It was
Roberto s first major trophy. He continued his great play the next season, 1993 94,
when he got his one hundredth serie A goal vs Genoa in October. Roberto was
awarded the Golden Ball trophy as Europe s best player, and the sports writers
voted Roberto Best Player in the World. His wife Andreina gave birth to their
second child Mattia, in June 1994. Then it was off to USA 94, and Roberto lead
the team that was built around him, the Azzurri , right to the finals of the World
Cup, with goal after important goal for Italy. On July sixth 1995 Roberto left
Juventus for an even bigger club, Milan. Roberto was on his second consecutive
serie A championship winning team. On July 18 1997, Roberto signed with
Bologna F.C. of the serie A. With the ponytail gone and new hope after a great

Roll Of Thunder, Hear My Cry
Mildred D. Taylor s award winning book called Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry
expresses many themes dealing with the struggles African Americans faced during
the early twentieth century all throughout the story. One of the most crucial themes
Ms.Taylor integrates in her story is race. The message/main idea of racein Roll of
Thunder, Hear My Cry is proven through the story elements Mildred D. Taylor
utilizes. Those elements include story structure, conflict, characterization, and climax
and resolution. With these elements, Ms.Taylor strongly hints the effect race had
back in the time the story took place (presumingly around the Great Depression). The
message she wants to portray is what the African Americans had to endure through all

Taylor also uses characterization to further push her theme of race and racism in her
story. Characterization is the way the characters in a story behave, respond, think,
and speak. In Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry there are numerous examples of Ms.
Taylor manipulating characters to demonstrate her theme. One example is the
way R.W and Melvin Simms treat TJ. After TJ got Mama fired, the children
stopped being friends with TJ causing TJ to start befriending R.W and Melvin
Simms instead. On Chapter Nine the text states, Well, you told me Jeremy said
they were laughing at T.J. behind his back. Some folks just like to keep other folks
around to laugh at them. . .use them. These words come from out of Mama s
mouth. This specific piece of evidence proves that R.W. and Melvin just want to
keep T.J. around because he is something they could make fun of later when he
leaves. The way the two Simms brothers behave portrays them to be racist. Again,
the only reason why they keep T.J. around is to laugh and make fun of him later
on. That stems from their belief that T.J., a black person, is less than them.
Therefore, they just want to use him to get a good laugh out of it all. Besides the
previous piece of evidence, there is one more equally important fragment of
verification on Chapter Five page 115. While running out of Mr. Barnett s store
from getting kicked out, Cassie physically runs into Lillian Jean. Lillian Jean
wants Cassie to apologize for bumping into her in which Cassie refuses to do so.
Mr. Simms grows impatient and mistreats Cassie by glaring and scolding her. Then
Mr. Simms jumped into the street. I moved away from him, trying to get up. He
was a mean looking man, red in the face and bearded. I was afraid he was going to
hit me before I could get to my feet, but he didn t. I scrambled and ran blindly for
the wagon. Big Ma noticing all the commotion, makes Cassie apologize to Lillian
Jean. This detail t in the
Gender Stereotypes And Expectations In Literature
Everyone knows that boys only want one thing, and girls, above all else, must protect
their virtue. Society, through such means as literature, popular culture, and tradition,
has perpetuated these gender stereotypes and expectations for much of history.
Unconscious and conscious assumptions about gendershape how readers perceive sex
in literature; men are typically considered lustful, whereas women are considered
loving. However, the subjects of sex, love, and lust in literature, as demonstrated in
poems written by Robert Burns and Andrew Marvell, become increasingly nuanced
when gender stereotypes and expectations are questioned and removed. Gender roles,
expectations, and stereotypes have shifted and become less clearly defined... Show

He says that the youthful hue / sits on [her] skin like morning dew, but that this fresh
beauty will soon fade (Marvell 584; 33 34).
The description of this woman supports stereotypes of both genders. The man is
lustful, and his tactic is to appeal to the woman s shallow vanity. He appeals to her
desire for love by almost offhandedly tacking on how he would like to know her heart
(Marvell 583; 18). Additionally, he says that, should they act upon his lustful desires,
they would be like amorous birds of prey (Marvell 584; 38). The contradictory image
of loving raptors enforces the stereotype of a predatory man spouting any lovely lie
to get a woman in his bed. A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns is not as overtly sexual
as To His Coy Mistress. However, Burns was notoriously promiscuous, and his
subject matter was often of a sexual nature. It is safe to say that his purpose in this
poem was a sexual purpose. He says his luve s like a red, red rose / that s newly
sprung in June (Burns 935; 1 2). He also describes his love as a beautiful song
being sweetly played in tune (Burns 935; 1 2). He uses this flowery language to
appeal to women s stereotypical love for beauty and emotion. He additionally
appeals to an overemotional woman by using hyperbolic language to describe his
love. He claims that he will love this woman until all the seas dry up and the rocks
melt wi the sun
In Praise Of Margins By Ian Frazier
In the essay, In Praise of Margins Ian Frazier constantly mentions the importance of
marginal behavior within places and activities as he interprets this concept as an
aimless wonder that essentially does not provide anything for the economic world. I
agree with Frazier s claims as demonstrated through the potential of margins in
discovering new ideas, assisting creativity, and helping others get out of their comfort
zones. This is established throughout the essayas a way encourage the reader to
pursue activities or places for the purpose of pure happiness. One of the reoccurring
scenes throughout the article is the woods, which is utilized to express the youth of
Frazier as a, Blue Sky Research area. He elaborates this ideain the essay where he
states, The margin is where you can try out odd ideas that you might be afraid to
with people looking on . It is vivid that Frazier is seeking to communicate to the
reader the benefits of marginal activities as well as the reasoning being such an
activity. This can be exemplified through a personal experience where I was
participating in a marginal activity by aimlessly listening to music throughout a
classroom session, which as a result, would allow me to perform higher
academically. This relates to the argument that Frazier was attempting to convey of
how marginalize activities can be some of the most essential, as I was able to realize
this effect on me and suggest the idea to my teacher which then lead to a positive

Childcare and Education
Some may disagree that the best place for children ages three and under are day care
and preschool programs. In early child care education there are many benefits for
children. My argument is to state the different advantages in early education.
The results of the Parental Childcare and children s Educational Attainment study
shows that with the control of time, the health of a child will not have an effect on
the age in which he can enroll in school. After controlling for endogeneity the results
of the study were profound, and that childcare time should never be omitted because
it can bias the study. While the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I recently visited a daycare center in Marrero, LA the security measures were
awesome. Each parent is issued an authorize user id and password. Along with a

cameras that displayed each classroom, cafeteria, play centers, front and back of the

safety of kids.
Some parents feel young kids shouldn t attend day care centers because it takes away
boding time between a child and the parent, or a child is too young to learn .I
totally disagree, a child bonds with their parents from birth, eight hours a day in
child care center will not break a parents bond .Studies show the earlier a child a
leaves away from their parents its teaches them to become self sufficient on their own
without total dependence of their parents.
Is a child too young to learn? I would answer no. Kids learn in many different ways
starting from infants. Early child hood education enhances a child s learning ability.
When a child enters daycare there learning begins with recognizing colors, shapes,
number, alphabet s s and lyrics. When entering preschool a child that has previously
attended a daycare setting is more likely to be further advance than a child entering
preschool without previous daycare education. Preschool teaches skills that will
prepare a child for
Mexican Independence
Mexican Independence In New Spain, the Bourbon monarchies in 1808 1810
encouraged some creoles leaders to strike for total independence under the cover of
Ferdinand. On July 1808, Napoleon s capture of Charles the VI and Ferdinand the
VII, and capture of Spain reached Mexico causing intense debate between Mexican
elites. Creoles and Peninsulars prepared to take power and ensure their group would

It was followed by a long period of war at the Siege of Cuautla. Morelos military
efforts were hampered by differences with fractious civilian allies and by his
decision to establish a representative government at a time. In 1815, Morelos was
captured by Spanish colonial authorities, tried and executed for treason in San
CristГіbal Ecatepec on 22 December.
After ten years of civil war and the death of two of its founders, by early 1820 the
independence movement was stalemated and close to collapse. The rebels faced
stiff Spanish military resistance and the apathy of many of the most influential
criollos. The violent excesses and populist zeal of Hidalgo s and Morelos s irregular
armies had reinforced many criollos fears of race and class warfare, ensuring their
grudging acquiescence to conservative Spanish rule until a less bloody path to
independence could be found. It was at this juncture that the machinations of a
conservative military caudillo coinciding with a successful liberal rebellion in Spain,
made possible a radical realignment of the proindependence forces. Vicente Guerror,

Influential People Today
In the society we live in today, our thought processes are different than what they
were a decade or two ago. We live in the cinematic age as they call it, and in this time
it is quite difficult to have positive influences as the world faces destruction, neglect,
and hatred. As a little boy not understanding the world, I would have assumed that
most people were somewhat influential. However, as I aged into the young man I am
today, I understand that being influential persontakes a certain individual. An
individual who has the moral code of willingness to help others effectively while
asking for nothing in return but their happiness. Besides my parents and some

difficult to promote within the company. The company seeks external recruitment to
fulfill global management role in the company. However, employees don t like
external hire managers because employees believe the new management has poor
knowledge of corporate culture. Also, employees felt that these individuals are only
there for the corporate stock offering. This is a high priority issue because, without
sustainable reflective global leadership, the work atmosphere can and will possibility
plummet.

How To Get Credit For A New Business Case Study
How to get credit for a new business
Written by Janet Gershen Siegel
Do you know how a new business can acquire a business line of credit? As a new
business, by definition, you have no or little business credit history, so it could be
difficult. When you ask: What is the credit score of a new business? The answer is it s
usually not so hot. But you can get past that. Here are some ideas which will work.
Use your personal credit to get started
At some point, you will want to stop doing this, but at the beginning, you have got to
get your new business off the ground, and that means you will need developmental
funding. This is funding to do anything from paying a rental deposit for an office to
purchasing a set of prototypes for a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter which kind of vendor you get trade credit with, be responsible and, of
course, pay them on time (and early, if you can swing that). Not only does that
reinforce and maintain that relationship, it also counts toward your credit score.
Be responsible with any credit you ve got, including personal
This may feel a bit like an obvious fact, but your use of currently existing credit will
be what any creditor (trade or banks, etc.) will use to ascertain if you can pay your
bills on time and are, therefore, what is considered a good credit risk. Suddenly
squandering all of your personal credit at the tables in Vegas is not going to endear
you to future lenders. New companies in particular, no matter how cautious they
are, are generally evaluated as the full credit package. That is, both personal and
business credit scores are under consideration. If you look like a bad credit risk on
the personal credit side, you ll appear, to future lenders and creditors, to be an
equally poor credit risk on the business side of things.
Establish your business under IRS rules
And finally, because a new business and its credit will inevitably be conflated with
the personal credit of its founder(s), take steps to separate the two. One of the most
significant steps you can take is to apply for an IRS EIN (employer identification
number). By declaring to the IRS that your new business is the real deal, and not just

Analysis Of Lee s Speech On Self Identity
Self identity is, perhaps, society s most important component. It s the element that
differentiates each and every individual from a collective group to create diversity.
In a metaphysical sense it answers the question Who am I? for each individual.
Despite the fact that self identity is one of the building blocks of the human psyche,
it is not permanent nor solid. Decreased social interaction and doubt of one s role in
society are two of the most common cases for a loss of selfidentity, while life
milestones are the leading cause behind the fluidity of identities. Lee s Native Speaker
approaches changes in internal identity through character s interaction with language
in society. As I will demonstrate, Ahjumah and Pete Ichibata are cast as the primary
devices to convey these transformations as one is near absent of language and the
other is an artist with language. In other words, in Native Speaker, Chang Rae Lee
uses Ahjumah and Pete Ichibata to elucidate that language is the medium that
establishes, destroys, and transcends people s self identity in society. Ahjumah s
lack of interaction with languages leaves her absent of identity symbolizing the loss
of self identity. Ahjumah s lack of interaction with language is made apparent quite
early in the novel when Henry begins recounting her description: he says, she spoke
only when it mattered or when something needed to be done, or requested, or
acknowledged (Lee 64). Lee is using Henry and Ahjumah s lack of
Gung Ho Sparknotes
Gung Ho, by Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles was a wonderful book that
discussed many important factors involved in making a company truly successful.
It had a good storyline to help to tell the story of Gung Ho. When I first picked up
the book to read it I really had no idea what to expect to learn from the book. The
points that were made in this book were very simple and common sense principles. I
say that these principles are simple, but many companies do not think of these little
things when running a large business. They try to go by the book and get too caught
up in sticking to their rules and regulations. Sometimes you just have to use a little
common sense when running a business.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I felt like I was making a worthwhile difference to the members by providing them
with good service.
It is amazing what you can do as a team when you all have a shared goal in mind.
The owner set the goals for us to go by, but was always willing to listen to ideas
from his employees. This allowed everyone to feel as if they were having a hand in
making the Grille a better place. The spirit of the squirrel reminds me of the people I
worked with and how they all pulled together to help. As Andy Longclaw said in the
book, worthwhile doesn t mean more than important, it just covers more territory than
important . All of the Grille workers knew the work they did was important, and that
led to a common goal between all of us. We used values to guide all of our work
and didn t take shortcuts because we had values. We knew that every little thing
was worthwhile and part of a larger plan. In the book, Andy says that everyone
should work toward a shared goal and that goals are marker posts you drive into
the future landscape between where you are and where you want to be. We all
decided to make a goal of making the Grille the best it had been in years and to
keep it under one owner for more than two years. Andy also reported about there
being two types of goals. One is result goals set out where we want to be. The other
is value goals set out the impact we want to make on the lives of team members,
customers, and the community.

Analysis Of Ben Bernanke s Global Saving Glut View Of...
Introduction This essay will discuss the Ben Bernanke s global saving glut view of
global imbalances, the causes related to it, the possible policies applicable and its
extent of reliability in comparison to other views, such as the Borio and Disyatat s
excess elasticity one.
To well address this concept, the current account and concepts related to it will be
explained with the big deficits and surpluses issues that have arisen since 1990s.
Then Bernanke s thoughts and the extent to which his view can be connected to the
economic crisis will be presented using both economic theory and other economists
ideas.
The current account and the global saving glut
The current account is one of the components of the Balance of Payment together
with the capital and financial account and the reserve assets account. This represents
the difference between a country s savings and its investment and it is defined as the
sum of the payments of goods and services bought from foreigners, net income from
abroad and net current transfers. When the current account is in deficit, it means that
the country s net sales abroad value is negative, while it is in surplus when this value
is positive. The current account must balance, so surplus of one nation means deficits
of another.
There are different approaches to determine the current account. In this essay it is
worth to explain the saving investment balance approach since Bernanke s saving
glut idea is based on it. The identity for
The Role Of Ethics And Morals Throughout The Life Of A...
The paper is a description of what role ethics and morals play in the life of a
Defense Attorney. While having to support his client a defense Attorney more
often than not would have to prove the prosecution s witness to be fake. The paper
deals with the techniques that are followed by an Attorney to protect his client and
it gives us an idea of the numerous strategies that he would have to adopt to prove
his client in the right. Further, the paper is also a discussion upon facts as to
whether an Attorney can purposely cross question a witness, and mislead the
court just to prove his client not guilty. Here the main purpose of the argument
starts with the fact whether a defense attorney is ethically right when he decides to
purposely cross examine the prosecutor s witness just to mislead the court, when
he knows that the witness is saying the truth, and does so only to discredit his
answers. From time immemorial lawyers have been condemned and thought of as
conniving people. As early as the biblical times writers have been condemning
lawyers. The great satirist, Jonathan Swift had in his book Gulliver s Travels in
1726 stated that there was a society of men among us, bred up from their youth in
the art of proving by words multiplied for the purpose that white is black and black
is white, according as they are paid. To this society all rest of the people is slaves. It
can be stated that the real reason to conduct Cross Examination is to find answers to
questions of fact.
Negative Body Image
You re scrolling through your Instagram account and you see a post from a model
that you follow. It s a group photo from an A lister party. All the women have
enormous busts, but narrow waists perched upon huge derrieres while all the men
have a broad upper body, followed by a set of washboard abs. You think to yourself
how beautiful and perfect they look. A twinge of jealousy flickers within you as you
subconsciously start comparing yourself to that photo. Unfortunately, these are some
expectations that society has built on how one should one. Moreover, when we don t
reach it, there are often consequences of developing negative body imageissues.
So what is negative body image exactly? According to NEDA (Australia s national
eating disorder association) , body image issue is the dissatisfaction a person may
have of their body not meeting unrealistic criteria. It is the negative thoughts and
emotions that result from their perception of their own physical self. Unfortunately,
in today s day and age, this is an existing issue due to the world we live in promoting
unrealistic body ideals. It tends to become a challenge to not compare yourself to
these expectations when you scrutinize those images of Instagram models in your
everyday life.
A study conducted Down Under showed that, out of 10,500 Australian women, a

The Impact Of Modern Social Workers On The Community
Introduction Modern social workers participate actively in helping people to obtain
rights, services, benefits and opportunities that they might not otherwise obtain
through micro policy advocacy, ?often prioritize the needs of vulnerable populations
when they engage in advocacy? (Jansson, 2016, p. 21). Through community
immersion, the social worker gains an understanding of the community attributes and
desiderata, requiring them to utilize their experience and expertise to advocate
policies that will satisfy the client?s needs (NASW, n.d.). Furthermore, when social
workers immerse themselves in the community, it becomes an act of care and
concern to serve the community. Compelling them to implement new changes, depict
workable intervention schemes, and generate attainable treatment plans to satisfy the
needs of the individuals, families and community. The community that will be
addressed in this paper is National City. It is located five miles south of downtown
San Diegoand ten miles away from the US Mexico border in Tijuana.
National City is divided into three sub communities based on their regional parks:
Kimball, El Toyon and Las Palmas (KTU+A, 2014). Because of National City?s
unique location in close proximity to downtown San Diego, it is considered an
urban city, as defined by Jannson (2016), with a lot of commercial activity and
impoverishment. Depending on the social worker?s role, knowledge on the type of
community is crucial; when there is a deficit of
Making Causal Inferences In Psychology
Although many people believe that the only way to confidently make causal
inferences in the psychology world is through true experiments, I believe that
observational and other quasi experiments can be just as effective for making cause
and effect conclusions. One of the cardinal rules in psychology, of course, is that
correlation does not equal causation. While this is true, I strongly believe that when
certain conditions are met, we can infer causation even with nonexperimental data. I
have learned about many of these conditions in my Advanced Research Methods
textbook and completely agree with the author s opinion on this topic. Basically,
causalityhas a probabilistic meaning rather than a deterministic one. When making

With this type of perspective, I believe it is fair to make conclusions about
personality as a cause of behavior (despite the fact that we cannot manipulate a
person s stable dispositions) so long as the model investigating how a trait causes an
outcome is well designed, replicated, and combined with other kinds of evidence (pg
10).
One study that might be fair to draw causal inferences from analyzed the relationship
between explanatory style and academic achievement (pg 287). In this study,
researchers found that first year college students with optimistic explanatory styles
obtained a higher GPA than students with pessimistic explanatory styles (presumably
because of greater motivation and perseverance in the face of adversity) even after
controlling for intellectual ability (with SAT scores). What makes me lean toward a
more cause effect rather than a correlational explanation is:
1.)This research is not saying that an optimistic explanatory style necessarily causes
students to earn higher GPAs, but that optimists, because of their tendency to show
greater motivation and persistence (despite times of hardship), develop strategies that
are related to higher achievement. Having an optimistic
The Palestinian-Israeli Conflict in the Middle East Essay
The Palestinian Israeli Conflict in the Middle East
The Arab world is not in a compromising mood... Nations never concede; they fight.
You won t get anything by peaceful means or compromise. You can, perhaps get
something, but only by the force of your arms...But it s too late to talk of peaceful
solutions (Bard 1). The Arab League Secretary Azzam Pasha said this statement on
September 16, 1947, eight months before the state of Israel was established. The
Arabs held this mentality in a time when Israel was not yet a fact. This trait was
hereditary in the sense that it was taught to their children, who taught it to their
children, and so on. Those are the people who are living in Arab countries, and still
despise everything about Israel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though a cease fire was in effect, the war continued as Arabs closed the Suez
Canal to Israel shipping and Israel (in retaliation) did not allow the 700,000 Arab
refugees return to their homes (Regan 22).
The problem was that no Arab State wanted those refugees so camps were set up in
Gaza Strip, which was controlled by Egypt, and the West Bank, which was
controlled by Jordan (23). This inability to find a home land for the people now
called Palestinians would lead to many of Israel s conflicts with the Arab world. The
Arabs did not want their Palestinian brothers in their countries but, for some reason,
Israel, the Jewish State, was supposed to take them in even though it had the best
reason not to. Was Israel, which had just won the war, now supposed to take back
their enemies? Of course not.
From 1949 to 1956, there was no peace in Israel, because Egypt continued attacking
Israel from one side while Syria continued attacking from the other. In 1953, in
order to try to stop the violence, Israel passed the Land Acquisition Law, offering
payment for property taken from Arab citizens of Israel who lived there between
May 4, 1949 and April 1, 1952 (Silverman 54). However that did not appear to stop
the terror in the region or make peace with its neighbors. On October 14, 1956
Egyptian President Nasser said, [o]ur hatred is very strong. There is no sense in
talking about peace with Israel. There is not the smallest place for negotiations
Nonprofit Organizations Benefits
Chief Executive Officers make a lot of money. In fact, the average CEO earns 212
times that of the average American worker in the United States (Stelzer, 1997).
This means they earn six to seven figures just on average. Some earn way more
than this. Many people question whether CEO s deserve to earn this much money.
Is it fair that CEO s live in such luxury, while some of their employees work very
hard and still struggle to make ends meet? This question is complicated enough.
However, it gets more complicated when this question is asked about nonprofit
organizations. Should nonprofit CEO s and other executives receive compensation
that is comparable to the market, or is that taking advantage of the resources that
have been generously given to the organization by people who want to see those
organizations do good and accomplish a mission? Justification Now, this is certainly
a question worth asking. With CEOs of for profit organizations, the money used to
pay them comes from selling goods or services. However, with nonprofit
organizations, the money comes from a variety of places. However, a large portion
of this money is from donors. It could also be from grants, or even the government. In
for profit organizations, the consumer putting the... Show more content on

The need for self selection is due, in part, to the fact that nonprofits are not subject
to the usual checks and balances imposed by shareholders of for profits. Such
compensation packages generally involve lower base salaries and higher institution

long as nonprofits can distinguish between high ability and low ability managers, by
paying less they avoid attracting rejects from the for profit sector and still attract
managers whose output is no less than those in the for profit sector (Barragato, 2002,

Short Essay On Islamic Philosophy
This paper is designed about the discussion on what is philosophy and what is
Islamic philosophy and philosophy itself. In first discussion is explain about the
philosophy and the second discussion is discuss about the Islamic Philosophy.
Generally, philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems, such as
those connected with reality, existence, knowledge, values, reason and so forth.
First and foremost, the term of philosophy is derived from combination two Greek
words which is Philos and Sophia which means love or pursuit and wisdom or
knowledge or hikmah , so it is called as love of knowledge . Those who love of
wisdom known as philosopher. The consideration of philosopher is always seeking
the wisdom or truth without any prejudice. Wisdom also can be regarded as full of
beneficial knowledge without any injustice and it had been mentioned many ways
in the Quran verses, one of them from the verses 31:12 We bestowed (in the past)
Wisdom on Luqman: Show (thy) gratitude to Allah. Any who is (so) grateful does
so to the profit of his own soul: but if any is ungrateful, verily Allah is free of all
wants, Worthy of all praise.
Generally, the classification philosophy is discussed about metaphysic, epistemology,
logic, ethic and aesthetics. It all about nature of things and the mother of knowledge
(matter scientiarum). Actually, metaphysic derived from Greek word which meta
means after , so metaphysic mean after physic . Metaphysic is the study of

Computing Machinery And Intelligence By Alan Turing
In his paper Computing Machinery and Intelligence, Alan Turing sets out to answer
the question of whether machines can think in the same humans can by
conceptualizing the question in concrete terms. In simple terms, Turing redefines the
question by posing whether a machine can replicate the cognition of a human being.
Yet, some may object to the notion that Turing s new question effectively captures the
nature of machines capacity for thought or consciousness, such as John Searle. In his
Chinese room thought experiment, Searle outlines a scenario that implies machines
apparent replication of human cognition does not yield conscious understanding.
While Searle s Chinese thought experiment demonstrates how a Turing test is not
sufficient to establish that a machine can possess consciousness or thought, this
argument does not prove that machines are absolutely incapable of consciousness or
thought. Rather, given the ongoing uncertainty of the debate regarding the
intelligence of machines, there can be no means to confirm or disconfirm the
conscious experience of machines as well as the consciousness of humans by
extension of that principle. In attempting to answer the question of whether machines
are able to think, Turing redesigns the question around the notion of machines
effectiveness at mimicking human cognition. Turing proposes to gauge such
effectiveness by a variation of an imitation game, where a man and a woman are
concealed from an interrogator who makes
Inner Conflict In Shakespeare s Hamlet
Hamlet, written by William Shakespeare around 1600, is a tragedy dramatizing the
revenge of Prince Hamlet. The play explores the inner conflict experienced by
Hamlet as he is faced with the task of avenging his Father s death. In the first scene
Hamlet is approached by a ghost, claiming to be his father. This sets into motion a
plan of revenge that will end in a bloodbath, as most of the major characters die.
Throughout Hamletthe protagonist struggles with inner conflict, stemming from his
inability to form his thoughts into action. Although it is assumed that Denmark finds
order in the end with the rise of Prince Fortinbras, the play is not resolved because
Hamlet is never able to understand the implications of death and he is not able to...

It was necessary for the court to fall apart completely eventually, so that the
government could be restored. Although the royal court falls apart in the end, it is
taken over and supposedly restored by Prince Fortinbras. This helps resolve the
play by giving the audience a sense of Denmark s future. However, the play is not
resolved because the concept of an afterlife is never defined in the context of the
play. The audience only has Hamlet s perception of death. Hamlet also lacks growth
as a character. Although he eventually gets justice for his father and kills Claudius,
he only acted because his hand was forced. According to Claudius plan, Hamlet was
supposed to die in the final act, meaning he wouldn t have gotten the chance to
avenge his father. Hamlet is never able to turn his thoughts into action, therefore

only resolution comes from Prince Fortinbras taking over. The play lacks resolution
because the audience does not know if the end goal was met, That being, whether

because the audience is left out of important details that would change the meaning of
the play. The audience does not know if the ghostis real or just a figment of Hamlet s

The Internet s Impact On Social Capital
In the 21st century humans are presented with means to impact their societies
potential in a greater way than ever before. With new technology, individuals have
astounding control over the foundations of social value. One of the most powerful
tools to mold these foundations is the Internet. After its creation in the 1950s, the
Internet has witnessed excessive and continuous growth. As more and more people
become part of the Internet s population its power to shape society s capital. To
examine this power the definition of social capital must be clarified. Former president
of the American Political Science Association, Robert Putnam explains in his book

Like food and shelter, community development has also allocated a majority of
human resources. From primitive inventions such as basic language and writing
utensils to the telephone and the Internet, humans have a communal goal to connect
more frequently and with more people. As of 2014, the Internet is the most
successful device because it increases global connection and frequency of
communication. The Internet increases community access enabling users to
communicate with forty percent of the world, over three billion people (Internet).
Increasing by almost thirty thousand users a day the Internet exhibits amounts of
efficiency surpassing that of other communication technologies (Howard 383). Before
the Internet social networks were limited to local communities. Communication
mainly occurred between people geographically close. The Internet has broken the
constraint geography placed on community. Sociologist Barry Wellman discusses the
Internets extension of society connectedness in Connecting Community: On and
Offline. With the Internet, people have global connectivity and [i]nstead of being
bound up in a neighborhood community where all know all people create networks
based on their unique traits not proximity (Wellman 25,27). Through this increased
exchange between diverse people the global social capital is increased as well. The
world as one large society sees a connectedness that benefits everyone as a whole and

tested which can indicate the difference between God and Science. Wortham
(2015) indicated, The teacher has acknowledged Tyisha s claim that animals have
goals, but she goes on to argue from lines 555 567 that, while humans and animals
both have goals of one kind, humans also have a second, distinctive kind of ( long
range ) goal. By making a valid claim about animals goals, Tyisha has caused the
teacher to revise her argument (p. 5).
Logical Consistency Wortham (2015) wrote, Tyisha has throughout the year been an
active participant in class discussions, making her own arguments in ways that the
teachers typically encourage (p. 3). By indication, by the student is consistent in
embracing her own thought process and her ability to think. Therefore, by her
expanding her mind and see all the options, before agreeing to what was done in
history, allows room for new idea and the evolution of
Allusion In I Am Legend
Plot Summary
In the novella I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, Robert is the last human on Earth
that has been plagued by a disease that turns humans into vampires. This infection
has ended with Neville alone in a house to fend and survive, in an undisclosed area
of Los Angeles. It is mentioned several times through the novella that bombs could
have caused the mutation of a disease and constant sandstorms attribute to the
spreading of the infection throughout the areas of Los Angeles. In order to fend off
the blood sucking vampires, Neville sets up perimeters of garlic, and mirrors to
repel the vampires getting closer to his house. Additionally, Neville installs lights and
boards his windows so the vamps can t get in without a fight. All of his ... Show more

This creates an image of a trapped Robin on an island being given answers by
Santa by sleigh. What it really means, is that Neville, once on a hopeless island of
despair, now has answers to his problems that he is facing. The author refers to Santa
Claus because he is known to come to town and bring gifts, but instead, he brings
answers to Neville. In addition, it refers to Robin Crusoe a character that was once
trapped on a deserted island for a long period of time before being saved and getting
trapped again. As is Neville, alone and trapped in a world where vampires surround
him every day, waiting for the chance to jump him for his
Dollar Shave
Burma Shave was introduced to the public in 1925 and Dollar Shave Club was
founded in 2011. Even though these companies got their start 86 years apart, they
both have much in common.
Both Burma Shave and Dollar Shave Club, used marketing campaigns to targeting
consumers directly and in a similar way. The most obvious is their use of humor to
grab the attention of consumers. The difference between these two campaigns where
obviously the way they were able to distribute. Dollar Shave Club has the internet
and social media at their disposal. They are able to reach a larger audience with few
resources than Burma Shave. Burma Shave used humorous poems to catch the
attention of consumers and it worked for a while.
The resources both these companies had also played a major role in the execution of
their marketing campaigns. With the use of humor, they were better able to grab the
attention of consumers who were outside of their target audience. Burma Shave
began their campaign back in 1925. At the time, using road signs was a very
innovative and effective way of getting consumers interested in there product. Dollar
Shave Club, on the other hand, had the power of the internet to their disposal. They

Chicago Meatpacking History
History of the Back of the Yards
Running from west Pershing Road, around south Western Avenue, west Garfield
Boulevard, and ending at the intersection with south Halsted Street and west Pershing
Road lies the neighborhood, New City, also known as the Back of the Yards.
Canaryville is also another neighborhood that lies within New City.
The establishment of the Union Stock Yardsin 1865 led to the expansion of
meatpacking in southside Chicago. Before private stock yards were created, tavern
owners provided land and care for cattle herds waiting to be sold. With the
increasing service of railroads throughout the United States, small stockyards were
created in and around the city of Chicago. Chicago became the largest railroad center

This book described the horrifying conditions in the stockyards and meatpacking
industry. The story depicts a young man and woman who have recently
immigrated to Chicago from Lithuania. They have a wedding feast at a bar in
Packingown. The couple and some of their relatives go to Chicago for a better life
but Packingtown, the center of the city s meatpacking industry, is dangerous,
filthy, and hard. It was also difficult to find a job. The couple become a hundred
dollars in debt to the saloonkeeper and Jurgis has faith in the American dream that
he could just work harder to make more money. They go through struggles with
hard laboring jobs such as digging freight tunnels (which resulting in him going to
the hospital), getting arrested because of attacking a man for not giving him
correct change, he starts to commit crimes such as burglaries and soon gets
recruited to work for a corrupt political boss. His spirit soon gets crushed by misery
and wanders into a socialist political rally which fills Jurgis with inspiration
through a speech. He finds a job as a porter at a socialist run hotel and later reunites
with wife. This story is filled with signs of corruption and immorality. A big symbol
in this story was the animals and slaughterhouses of Packingtown which represent the
working class. Just like the animals were killed with impunity, made to suffer and
had no choice about their fate, so were thousands of immigrant workers who lived in
poverty. They were forced into capitalism. Waves of animals pass through
Packingtown, just as the generations of immigrants continue to eventually be
replaced by a new
Analysis of Things Fall Apart Essay
Different countries have people that hold many different views and beliefs. In

Evil Forest was a strong belief also, they felt that if twins were born they would
had to be thrown into the evil forest to die because they were evil. And a dying man
with a strange sickness would also be thrown into the forest, this was how
Okonkwo?s father died. They have strong beliefs in evil sprits the gods which
leads them to do things that in our culture would have you put before a judge and

representative from everyone one of the nine villages in Umuofia. This shows that
the tribe really valued fair representation of all the tribes. There were not many
things that would have to put before the jury unless it was a serious offence like
killing a member of your own tribe. Which is how part one ends with Okonkwo
being forced to leave the tribe because he accidentally killed someone.

The Components of Newton s Laws of Motion
Velocity is the time rate of change of position of an object in a particular direction.
Velocity along a straight line is known as linear velocity and is commonly measured
by meters per second (m/s). Since both speed and direction are implemented in the
measurement velocity the direction must be given. Velocity is a vector quantity,
which includes magnitude or speed and a direction into account. An object doesn t
need to move in a straight line path to have linear velocity. Instantaneous velocity of
any point of an object undergoing circular motion is a vector quantity. When an
object is forced to follow a curved path it has instantaneous linear velocity at any
point of its travel. Velocity is calculated by dividing the time it took to travel the
distance into the distance it traveled or V=d/t (Rusk, Dr. Rogers D. (2014). Velocity.

average acceleration and the instantaneous acceleration are equal. When unbalanced

The Protestant Reformation In The German Reformer And
The...
In the 16th century, the Protestant Reformation, introduced by German reformer,
Martin Luther, brought forth religious, cultural, and political turmoil that shattered
Catholicism in Europe. This research paper is an analysis of the Protestant
Reformation in its connection to being one of the most impactful moments in history
that would inspire individuals to rebel against a corrupt regime. Understanding how
the actions of one man, like Martin Luther, can inspire a great rebellion against a
large force like the Catholic Churchby questioning its ways and weakening its rule of
absolute power sparked my interest. The realization of flaws within the Catholic
Church by the public encouraged the Church into making their own improvements
for the greater good and created a movement within England s kingdom. The
introduction of this movement to others regarding these issues also helped to pave
the way for a new generation of rulers and religious ideas. With these changes being
implemented into the Church due to the questioning of their authority, the series of
events that followed transformed early Europe for the years to come. During the
tenth century, all power both politically and religiously was governed by the Roman
Catholic Church throughout Western and Northern Europe. The Catholic Church had
very corrupt leaders, and many patronized their extravagant lifestyle. The Old
Church believed the people were true Catholics if they participated both in mass and
did works of mercy

Most Embarrassing Moment Essay. My Most Embarrassing Moment - Personal Narrative Essay Bartleby.pdf ...

  • 1. Most Embarrassing Moment Essay Writing an essay on the topic of one's most embarrassing moment can be a daunting task. The challenge lies not in the scarcity of material, but rather in the willingness to open up and share a personal experience that may be uncomfortable or awkward. Recalling such moments requires a level of vulnerability that many may find challenging. Additionally, crafting an engaging narrative around an embarrassing incident demands careful consideration of tone and audience. Striking the right balance between humor and sincerity is essential, as the aim is not only to recount the embarrassing moment but also to connect with the reader on a human level. It's crucial to avoid turning the essay into a mere retelling of events; instead, the writer must delve into their emotions, thoughts, and reflections during and after the embarrassing incident. Another difficulty arises from the potential judgment or scrutiny that comes with sharing personal stories. Writers may grapple with the fear of being misunderstood or perceived negatively by their audience. This fear can hinder the honest and authentic portrayal of the embarrassing moment, making it challenging to convey the full impact of the experience. In essence, the difficulty in writing an essay on the most embarrassing moment stems from the delicate balance required to make it both relatable and insightful. The writer must navigate through the discomfort of revisiting the embarrassing memory while ensuring that the narrative resonates with the reader. It's a task that demands introspection, creativity, and a willingness to embrace vulnerability. If tackling such a personal and sensitive topic seems overwhelming, it's worth noting that there are resources available to assist with essay writing. Services likeHelpWriting.net provide support for various types of essays, ensuring that individuals can obtain well-crafted pieces without the stress of tackling challenging topics alone. There are several topics to be discussed which are the designing products for quality, the design process, Quality Function Deployment (QFD), technology in design, prototype, design for reliability and environmental considerations in design. This chapter is going to focus on quality assurance. The purpose of this assignment is to understand clearly about the concept of product and process design for quality, the method being used in designing products quality and apply the concept or method in real case. 2.0 Discussion 2.1 Designing Products for Quality In the stage of designing product, quality assurance is an important process in assessing to sustain with the requirement standard. When designing the products, the company must identify the functions of the products that meet customers need, the cost of production, any inadequacy of materials and better materials to replace it. Design products for quality indicates to attain with the eight quality dimensions by David Garvin. For example, serviceability is a significant dimension for laptop, then the design team has to examine the ways to repair in a lower cost. • 3. Going Look At The Stars Go look at the stars. Now look at the paper. Now look at the stars. Now look at the paper. Now take one last look at the sky and count the number of visible stars. Not many, right? The problem of being a miniscule part of a vast Universe is our incapability to observe and understand the Universe, especially with the naked eye. Even in ancient Greece, people observed the skies, understanding it in order to locate their relative positions and noticing the movements of the sun and the moon. Many believe that a Greek cosmology does not form until the Pre Socratic works of 600 B.C.E., but there are signs that point to the Greek tradition of epic poems as a means of communicating astronomical information, the first of which was written down by Homer, who is considered the first epic poet (Hetherington 54, Murnaghan l). Before delving into Homer s poems, it is important to first understand the history of Greek civilization because his poems reflect several historic periods spanning hundreds of year. After 2000 B.C.E. Greek speaking people arrived in what we call Greece, establishing the Mycenaean civilization, which thrived, becoming rich with powerful cities that were military strongholds and international trade centers (Murnaghan l). Through their trade with nearby islands, they adopted a syllabary system of writing from the Minoans, who flourished on the island Crete (Murnaghan l). However, the next evidence of Greek writing is not seen until the Phoenician alphabet is
  • 4. Elizabeth Margaret Marberry s Dandelion Wine Although Elizabeth Margaret Marberry never explicitly provides a personal critique for Ray Bradbury s Dandelion Wine, the reader can infer some of her opinions about the book in her descriptions of the story, themes and meaning, and context. Marberry, for instances, writes the book is structured through the thematic interrelation of a series of vignettes taking place over the course of the summer of 1928 in the small, idealized Midwestern town of Green Town, Illinois (Marberry 295) expressing her believe that Dandelion Wine varies from the traditional narrative. When she stated the idealized Midwestern town, she implied that a town with the characters of Green Town simply does not exist. At the end of her summary of the story, Marberry declares that at the end of the story, Douglas has completed his journey (Marberry 296) suggesting he learned all he could learn that summer and would no longer go on adventures. Elizabeth Margaret Marberry concludes her critique by stating, it is a mixture of idealization ad realistic portrayal of the coming of age that makes these works so appealing to young and old readers alike (Marberry 297; Marberry 295 297).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Never really thinking about what it feels like to be alive, Douglas led to me to question why? Why do people exist? Why does every situation hold both a positive and negative affect? Why does my family not have as many traditions as the Spauldings? How come I never realized that I feel different, more alive, in the summer than the winter? Why? Through Douglas, Bradbury encourages the readers of Dandelion Wine to reflect upon their lives and figure out the answers for themselves. I appreciate an author who, instead of simply telling a story, forces his readers to think and reflect on his or her own life. I rate Dandelion Wine an eight out of ten and desire to read numerous other books by Ray Bradbury and other similar

Essay about to build a fire In the short story, To Build a Fire by Jack London shows how man vs. nature and how inexperienced traveler in the Yukon tries to travel alone with his dog, even though it s advised not to. Yet he is stubborn and thinks he is right, and sets off for Henderson Creek to meet his friends. He faces many different conflicts of man verses man, and man verses nature. The traveler is advised not to make this trip with the lack of his inexperience in the Yukondue to the weather, the incoming storm, and its advisories. In fact, he carried nothing but the lunch wrapped in the handkerchief. He was surprised, however, at the cold (561 562). The traveler is keen enough to pick up on the timber jams in the river. He shows that he does have skills even though he is inexperienced in the Yukon, and that he is well focused on his objective to travel the Yukon to see his friends. He was keenly observant, and he noticed the changes in the creek, the curves, and bends and the timber jam, and always he sharply noted where he placed his feet (563). Also, he picks up on other hot springs and things within the terrain from being observant and careful. The traveler starts to show just how inexperienced he is and how he really lacks the street smarts in the Yukon, when he builds the fire underneath a spruce tree along the edge of the tree line. He had to build the fire because the cold was getting to him and he needed to warm up after falling through the ice. HE was not smart, instead of putting the fire out in the open or further out without anything to come down on it to put it out, it was a lack of common sense. It was as though he had just heard his own sentence of death. For a moment he sat and stared at the spot where the fire had been. Then he grew very calm (565). He then tries to move the fire out into the open, but knows that the kindling is saturated with water from the snow falling on the fire, it became useless. He now realizes he is in trouble. Well, it was up to him to

On the outside the museum stands out from the surrounding building as it has an older brick style building which almost looks like a church in some aspects.. On the right side of the stairs that lead up inside is a large cannonon display. Upon entering the museumit is made apparent that the building is in good condition, but is also very old. Every step that I took while in the museum sounded as if the floor was about to cave in underneath my feet. I was greeted upon entry to the museum and I paid my entry fee and was given a sheet of paper with some general information on the museum. Once leaving the desk I walked along the wall to my left which was covered in glass cases that contained a multitude of civil war artifacts. The first thing that stood out to me was a small set of hand carved wooden chess pieces. They were kept in great condition, along with the bag that held them, aside from one hole in the bag itself. Above the glass cases were Civil War flags for different regiments with a particular focus on the Louisiana based regiment. Once I looked at the array of flags on left wall I focused my attention back to the glass cases again. The further down the wall I progressed the more personal items I came across. Uniforms and tokens given to soldiers from both the Confederates and the Union soldiers were on display with plaques inside giving biographical information on the

The advantages of these mechanisms seem to outweigh the disadvantages in the sense that these mechanisms are considerably cheaper than having to go through the process of litigation. Also there is the added bonus of the speed with which these settlements can be handled with. This is clearly a necessary factor for companies which require disputes to be handled speedily in relation to time constraints and budgetary considerations. The process of control offered to parties by these procedures is a significant factor to consider in relation to business owners and companies who are more accustomed to running their businesses than having their disputes being handled by the strict court process and discretion of a judge. The reasoning for the various stages that has been included in the Dispute Settlement Clause follows. 1.Negotiation Negotiation is a relatively informal process involving the discussion of some or all of the issues in a case with a view to resolving them on agreed terms. The process may be quite simple, or may involve substantial use of strategy and tactics. Negotiation

Taylor s award winning book called Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry expresses many themes dealing with the struggles African Americans faced during the early twentieth century all throughout the story. One of the most crucial themes Ms.Taylor integrates in her story is race. The message/main idea of racein Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is proven through the story elements Mildred D. Taylor utilizes. Those elements include story structure, conflict, characterization, and climax and resolution. With these elements, Ms.Taylor strongly hints the effect race had back in the time the story took place (presumingly around the Great Depression). The message she wants to portray is what the African Americans had to endure through all the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Taylor also uses characterization to further push her theme of race and racism in her story. Characterization is the way the characters in a story behave, respond, think, and speak. In Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry there are numerous examples of Ms. Taylor manipulating characters to demonstrate her theme. One example is the way R.W and Melvin Simms treat TJ. After TJ got Mama fired, the children stopped being friends with TJ causing TJ to start befriending R.W and Melvin Simms instead. On Chapter Nine the text states, Well, you told me Jeremy said they were laughing at T.J. behind his back. Some folks just like to keep other folks around to laugh at them. . .use them. These words come from out of Mama s mouth. This specific piece of evidence proves that R.W. and Melvin just want to keep T.J. around because he is something they could make fun of later when he leaves. The way the two Simms brothers behave portrays them to be racist. Again, the only reason why they keep T.J. around is to laugh and make fun of him later on. That stems from their belief that T.J., a black person, is less than them. Therefore, they just want to use him to get a good laugh out of it all. Besides the previous piece of evidence, there is one more equally important fragment of verification on Chapter Five page 115. While running out of Mr. Barnett s store from getting kicked out, Cassie physically runs into Lillian Jean. Lillian Jean wants Cassie to apologize for bumping into her in which Cassie refuses to do so. Mr. Simms grows impatient and mistreats Cassie by glaring and scolding her. Society, through such means as literature, popular culture, and tradition, has perpetuated these gender stereotypes and expectations for much of history. Unconscious and conscious assumptions about gendershape how readers perceive sex in literature; men are typically considered lustful, whereas women are considered loving. However, the subjects of sex, love, and lust in literature, as demonstrated in poems written by Robert Burns and Andrew Marvell, become increasingly nuanced when gender stereotypes and expectations are questioned and removed. He says that the youthful hue / sits on [her] skin like morning dew, but that this fresh beauty will soon fade (Marvell 584; 33 34). The description of this woman supports stereotypes of both genders. The man is lustful, and his tactic is to appeal to the woman s shallow vanity. He appeals to her desire for love by almost offhandedly tacking on how he would like to know her heart (Marvell 583; 18). Additionally, he says that, should they act upon his lustful desires, they would be like amorous birds of prey (Marvell 584; 38). The contradictory image of loving raptors enforces the stereotype of a predatory man spouting any lovely lie to get a woman in his bed. A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns is not as overtly sexual as To His Coy Mistress. However, Burns was notoriously promiscuous, and his subject matter was often of a sexual nature. It is safe to say that his purpose in this poem was a sexual purpose. He says his luve s like a red, red rose / that s newly sprung in June (Burns 935; 1 2). He also describes his love as a beautiful song being sweetly played in tune (Burns 935; 1 2). He uses this flowery language to appeal to women s stereotypical love for beauty and emotion. He additionally appeals to an overemotional woman by using hyperbolic language to describe his love. He claims that he will love this woman until all the seas dry up and the rocks melt wi the sun

In Praise Of Margins By Ian Frazier In the essay, In Praise of Margins Ian Frazier constantly mentions the importance of marginal behavior within places and activities as he interprets this concept as an aimless wonder that essentially does not provide anything for the economic world. I agree with Frazier s claims as demonstrated through the potential of margins in discovering new ideas, assisting creativity, and helping others get out of their comfort zones. This is established throughout the essayas a way encourage the reader to pursue activities or places for the purpose of pure happiness. One of the reoccurring scenes throughout the article is the woods, which is utilized to express the youth of Frazier as a, Blue Sky Research area. He elaborates this ideain the essay where he states, The margin is where you can try out odd ideas that you might be afraid to with people looking on . It is vivid that Frazier is seeking to communicate to the reader the benefits of marginal activities as well as the reasoning being such an activity. This can be exemplified through a personal experience where I was participating in a marginal activity by aimlessly listening to music throughout a classroom session, which as a result, would allow me to perform higher academically. This relates to the argument that Frazier was attempting to convey of how marginalize activities can be some of the most essential, as I was able to realize this effect on me and suggest the idea to my teacher which then lead to a positive

The answer is it s usually not so hot. But you can get past that. Here are some ideas which will work. Use your personal credit to get started At some point, you will want to stop doing this, but at the beginning, you have got to get your new business off the ground, and that means you will need developmental funding. Be responsible with any credit you ve got, including personal This may feel a bit like an obvious fact, but your use of currently existing credit will be what any creditor (trade or banks, etc.) will use to ascertain if you can pay your bills on time and are, therefore, what is considered a good credit risk. Suddenly squandering all of your personal credit at the tables in Vegas is not going to endear you to future lenders. New companies in particular, no matter how cautious they are, are generally evaluated as the full credit package. That is, both personal and business credit scores are under consideration. If you look like a bad credit risk on the personal credit side, you ll appear, to future lenders and creditors, to be an equally poor credit risk on the business side of things. Establish your business under IRS rules And finally, because a new business and its credit will inevitably be conflated with the personal credit of its founder(s), take steps to separate the two. One of the most significant steps you can take is to apply for an IRS EIN (employer identification number). By declaring to the IRS that your new business is the real deal, and not just a pipe dream
  • 21. Analysis Of Lee s Speech On Self Identity Self identity is, perhaps, society s most important component. It s the element that differentiates each and every individual from a collective group to create diversity. In a metaphysical sense it answers the question Who am I? for each individual. Despite the fact that self identity is one of the building blocks of the human psyche, it is not permanent nor solid. Decreased social interaction and doubt of one s role in society are two of the most common cases for a loss of selfidentity, while life milestones are the leading cause behind the fluidity of identities. Lee s Native Speaker approaches changes in internal identity through character s interaction with language in society. As I will demonstrate, Ahjumah and Pete Ichibata are cast as the primary devices to convey these transformations as one is near absent of language and the other is an artist with language. In other words, in Native Speaker, Chang Rae Lee uses Ahjumah and Pete Ichibata to elucidate that language is the medium that establishes, destroys, and transcends people s self identity in society. Ahjumah s lack of interaction with languages leaves her absent of identity symbolizing the loss of self identity. Ahjumah s lack of interaction with language is made apparent quite early in the novel when Henry begins recounting her description: he says, she spoke only when it mattered or when something needed to be done, or requested, or acknowledged (Lee 64). Lee is using Henry and Ahjumah s lack of

To well address this concept, the current account and concepts related to it will be explained with the big deficits and surpluses issues that have arisen since 1990s. Then Bernanke s thoughts and the extent to which his view can be connected to the economic crisis will be presented using both economic theory and other economists ideas. The current account and the global saving glut The current account is one of the components of the Balance of Payment together with the capital and financial account and the reserve assets account. This represents the difference between a country s savings and its investment and it is defined as the sum of the payments of goods and services bought from foreigners, net income from abroad and net current transfers. When the current account is in deficit, it means that the country s net sales abroad value is negative, while it is in surplus when this value is positive. The current account must balance, so surplus of one nation means deficits of another. There are different approaches to determine the current account. In this essay it is worth to explain the saving investment balance approach since Bernanke s saving glut idea is based on it. The identity for

While having to support his client a defense Attorney more often than not would have to prove the prosecution s witness to be fake. The paper deals with the techniques that are followed by an Attorney to protect his client and it gives us an idea of the numerous strategies that he would have to adopt to prove his client in the right. Further, the paper is also a discussion upon facts as to whether an Attorney can purposely cross question a witness, and mislead the court just to prove his client not guilty. Here the main purpose of the argument starts with the fact whether a defense attorney is ethically right when he decides to purposely cross examine the prosecutor s witness just to mislead the court, when he knows that the witness is saying the truth, and does so only to discredit his answers. From time immemorial lawyers have been condemned and thought of as conniving people. As early as the biblical times writers have been condemning lawyers. To this society all rest of the people is slaves. It can be stated that the real reason to conduct Cross Examination is to find answers to questions of fact.

One of the cardinal rules in psychology, of course, is that correlation does not equal causation. While this is true, I strongly believe that when certain conditions are met, we can infer causation even with nonexperimental data. One study that might be fair to draw causal inferences from analyzed the relationship between explanatory style and academic achievement (pg 287). In this study, researchers found that first year college students with optimistic explanatory styles obtained a higher GPA than students with pessimistic explanatory styles (presumably because of greater motivation and perseverance in the face of adversity) even after controlling for intellectual ability (with SAT scores). What makes me lean toward a more cause effect rather than a correlational explanation is: 1.)This research is not saying that an optimistic explanatory style necessarily causes students to earn higher GPAs, but that optimists, because of their tendency to show greater motivation and persistence (despite times of hardship), develop strategies that are related to higher achievement. This inability to find a home land for the people now called Palestinians would lead to many of Israel s conflicts with the Arab world. The Arabs did not want their Palestinian brothers in their countries but, for some reason, Israel, the Jewish State, was supposed to take them in even though it had the best reason not to. • 34. Computing Machinery And Intelligence By Alan Turing In his paper Computing Machinery and Intelligence, Alan Turing sets out to answer the question of whether machines can think in the same humans can by conceptualizing the question in concrete terms. In simple terms, Turing redefines the question by posing whether a machine can replicate the cognition of a human being. Yet, some may object to the notion that Turing s new question effectively captures the nature of machines capacity for thought or consciousness, such as John Searle. In his Chinese room thought experiment, Searle outlines a scenario that implies machines apparent replication of human cognition does not yield conscious understanding. While Searle s Chinese thought experiment demonstrates how a Turing test is not sufficient to establish that a machine can possess consciousness or thought, this argument does not prove that machines are absolutely incapable of consciousness or thought. Rather, given the ongoing uncertainty of the debate regarding the intelligence of machines, there can be no means to confirm or disconfirm the conscious experience of machines as well as the consciousness of humans by extension of that principle. In attempting to answer the question of whether machines are able to think, Turing redesigns the question around the notion of machines effectiveness at mimicking human cognition. Turing proposes to gauge such effectiveness by a variation of an imitation game, where a man and a woman are concealed from an interrogator who makes

This sets into motion a plan of revenge that will end in a bloodbath, as most of the major characters die. Throughout Hamletthe protagonist struggles with inner conflict, stemming from his inability to form his thoughts into action. Although it is assumed that Denmark finds order in the end with the rise of Prince Fortinbras, the play is not resolved because Hamlet is never able to understand the implications of death and he is not able to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was necessary for the court to fall apart completely eventually, so that the government could be restored. Although the royal court falls apart in the end, it is taken over and supposedly restored by Prince Fortinbras. This helps resolve the play by giving the audience a sense of Denmark s future. However, the play is not resolved because the concept of an afterlife is never defined in the context of the play. The audience only has Hamlet s perception of death. Hamlet also lacks growth as a character. Although he eventually gets justice for his father and kills Claudius, he only acted because his hand was forced. According to Claudius plan, Hamlet was supposed to die in the final act, meaning he wouldn t have gotten the chance to avenge his father. Hamlet is never able to turn his thoughts into action, therefore being a coward by his own definition as well as never developing as a character. The only resolution comes from Prince Fortinbras taking over. The play lacks resolution because the audience does not know if the end goal was met, That being, whether Hamlet s revenge saved the King Hamlet. It is important that the play lacks resolution because the audience is left out of important details that would change the meaning of the play. The audience does not know if the ghostis real or just a figment of Hamlet s imagination, they are also not told what happens to any

With new technology, individuals have astounding control over the foundations of social value. One of the most powerful tools to mold these foundations is the Internet. After its creation in the 1950s, the Internet has witnessed excessive and continuous growth. As more and more people become part of the Internet s population its power to shape society s capital. To examine this power the definition of social capital must be clarified. From primitive inventions such as basic language and writing utensils to the telephone and the Internet, humans have a communal goal to connect more frequently and with more people. As of 2014, the Internet is the most successful device because it increases global connection and frequency of communication. The Internet increases community access enabling users to communicate with forty percent of the world, over three billion people (Internet). Increasing by almost thirty thousand users a day the Internet exhibits amounts of efficiency surpassing that of other communication technologies (Howard 383). Before the Internet social networks were limited to local communities. Communication mainly occurred between people geographically close. The Internet has broken the constraint geography placed on community. Sociologist Barry Wellman discusses the Internets extension of society connectedness in Connecting Community: On and Offline. With the Internet, people have global connectivity and [i]nstead of being bound up in a neighborhood community where all know all people create networks based on their unique traits not proximity (Wellman 25,27). Through this increased exchange between diverse people the global social capital is increased as well. The world as one large society sees a connectedness that benefits everyone as a whole and

His spirit soon gets crushed by misery and wanders into a socialist political rally which fills Jurgis with inspiration through a speech. • 46. The Components of Newton s Laws of Motion Velocity is the time rate of change of position of an object in a particular direction. Velocity along a straight line is known as linear velocity and is commonly measured by meters per second (m/s). Since both speed and direction are implemented in the measurement velocity the direction must be given. Velocity is a vector quantity, which includes magnitude or speed and a direction into account. An object doesn t need to move in a straight line path to have linear velocity. Instantaneous velocity of any point of an object undergoing circular motion is a vector quantity. When an object is forced to follow a curved path it has instantaneous linear velocity at any point of its travel. Velocity is calculated by dividing the time it took to travel the distance into the distance it traveled or V=d/t (Rusk, Dr. Rogers D. (2014). Velocity. In AccessScience. McGraw Hill Education. In the 16th century, the Protestant Reformation, introduced by German reformer, Martin Luther, brought forth religious, cultural, and political turmoil that shattered Catholicism in Europe. This research paper is an analysis of the Protestant Reformation in its connection to being one of the most impactful moments in history that would inspire individuals to rebel against a corrupt regime. Understanding how the actions of one man, like Martin Luther, can inspire a great rebellion against a large force like the Catholic Churchby questioning its ways and weakening its rule of absolute power sparked my interest. The realization of flaws within the Catholic Church by the public encouraged the Church into making their own improvements for the greater good and created a movement within England s kingdom. The introduction of this movement to others regarding these issues also helped to pave the way for a new generation of rulers and religious ideas. With these changes being implemented into the Church due to the questioning of their authority, the series of events that followed transformed early Europe for the years to come. During the tenth century, all power both politically and religiously was governed by the Roman Catholic Church throughout Western and Northern Europe. The Catholic Church had very corrupt leaders, and many patronized their extravagant lifestyle. The Old Church believed the people were true Catholics if they participated both in mass and did works of mercy
