Hillcrest High School 21st Century Project Student Products
Hillcrest High School implemented various web 2.0 tools into their classrooms as part of a 21st century project. Teachers and students used blogs, wikis, Flickr, and ThinkFree to complete projects. Classes used TappedIn, which provided discussion boards, online chats, and a place for students to collaborate on group projects. Students created political campaign websites on Wikispaces for a government class election simulation. The use of new technologies benefited both teachers and students by encouraging extended discussion and collaborative work.

For a critical thinking project, the group focused on how critical thinking is involved in the classroom under Pillar #1. The presentation proposes developing courseware directly in Moodle and providing conversion tools between learning management systems to improve reuse and remixing of OCW for sustainability. The dog that didn’t bark: ‘total Moodle’ at a research-led institution
Last year UCL (University College London) embarked on an ambitious quest , and one some said was impossible in a research-led university, to ensure all of our 4500 modules have an associated Moodle presence by September 2011. As the deadline approaches how are we doing? And what will we do afterwards?
The ‘total Moodle’ project, led by a fairly small central learning technology team, has uncovered surprising changes in the way the VLE is now perceived and supported in the College which has forced us to re-think our own support strategy. The predicted academic resistance did not materialise and instead we have seen institutional adaptation of new technologies with astonishing enthusiasm, staff adapting in unexpected ways to Moodle, the emergence of a new and enthusiastic cadre of VLE supporters and all this in the framework of growing student expectations and demands.
We are now considering how we promote Moodle when (if?) we reach totality, what comes next in a technical and pedagogical sense and what new models of support and consultancy we should offer in the future.
E portfolios adapting_contextualising
The ENHANCE project aimed to enhance the application of JISC outputs at UWIC. It sought to improve staff skills for technology enhanced learning and encourage use of new technologies. UWIC's Cardiff School of Management requires undergraduate students to complete work placements and maintain a reflective log of their experiences. Initially, an e-portfolio tool called Expo was used, but it had limitations. The ePPSME model was designed as a solution. It uses PebblePad webfolios to provide context-sensitive learning content, blogs, and an all-in-one learning platform to better support students during work placements. Feedback found that the ePPSME model increases engagement and helps students develop reflection skills.
Moodle
Moodle is a free and open-source learning management system (LMS) that was created by Martin Dougiamas in 2002. It allows educators to create online courses with activities, assignments and quizzes. Moodle uses a social constructionist philosophy and is highly customizable through plugins and modules. Support is available through online forums and training programs. Moodle can be used to create both structured courses and unstructured learning environments.

Presented at the Anthology – Innovate & Educate Australia – 2023. In this presentation I’ll lay foundation of the role academic integrity plays in relation to Generative AI and what this means for authentic assessment.
It will then provide examples of some contemporary approaches to the use of Generative AI in Assessment, from across the sector and,
in this particular case, we will consider what this might look in the Ultra platform.
I’ll provide a sector perspective as to what 34 of our Australian Uni’s are doing in relation to this. Based on the findings of a very recent sector-wide survey of Directors of TEL, conducted under the auspices of ACODE.

Abstract: ChatGPT, and more broadly AI Transformers, has put the cat among the pigeons over recent months. Institutions are looking at different ways to provide the best possible advice to our staff and students. There is now consistent agreement, there can potentially be very positive outcomes for both students and staff, but we first need to understand this as a community. The theme of the ACODE 88 Meeting 2 March 2023 was ‘Embracing AI for student and staff productivity’. As this workshop we had some 200 participants; Director of TEL, Managers and Educational Designers, all bringing perspectives from their own institutions, to benchmark and understand were we stand on this complex, but exciting issue. As an output from this workshop, ACODE have developed a White paper, to help provide the sector with a way forward, one developed together.

A presentation to the University of Adelaide Leadership team.
The University has embarked on a Transformation Accelerator journey to design a future-fit Education for a Digital World strategy. The accelerator process involves five intensive co-design sessions that bring together more than 30 design participants from across the University, including Academic and Professional staff and Students. Participants have been challenged to be bold to formulate a distinctive and future-fit learning experience for future University of Adelaide learners, staff and stakeholders.
Three design sessions have now taken place, which have focussed on the future of education and the perspective of future learners. Inputs have included the CSIRO megatrends that might alter the landscape of higher education, drawing on a variety of experts and hearing from current and future students and prospective industry employers. Future learner profiles also provided an understanding of how our future learners will consume education.
A series of guest speaker sessions have been arranged for participants and wider University colleagues, covering a diverse range of relevant topics.

Meeting the challenges of contemporary online learning head-on

This shift involves new technologies, that provide new options for users that didn’t exist in the past. This presentation will highlight a range of approaches to teaching and assessment that have been used for decades in traditional classrooms, but post-COVID we now look at them through a new set of glasses that highlight their value in the virtual classroom.
