Editor's Notes
Rim of the Pacific 22 is an important exercise for the RCN to participate in as it allows us to work with liked minded countries around the Pacific Ocean to build Capable Adaptive Partners
Winnipeg successfully fired 2 surface – surface missiles at a decommissioned ship during Rim of the Pacific 22 and gained valuable operational data about our missiles systems in the process. Before sailing from Hawaii, WIN restocked all of her ammunition in order to be ready for Op PROJECTION 22.

Winnipeg employs sailors that are specially trained as divers to conduct hull inspections, complete routine maintenance, and, if necessary, even clear lines and rope from the propellers.
Pictured: S1 Castellan
This small competitions help build comradery and act as a professional development exercise for both teams. In this case, the Naval Communicators won and the BWK-U/T had to complete their cleaning stations.

Replenishments at Sea are important as they allow the ship to refuel without the need to return to port.

Things like BBQs give sailors a chance to unwind and enjoy the little things, like cheeseburgers
Pictured: SLt Summers and S3 Ballard, MS Salehi
The core responsibilities of the ship’s crew on WIN are to ensure that we can FLOAT, MOVE, and FIGHT. The Marine Systems Engineering dept is responsible for the FLOAT and MOVE corners of the triangle.

The Air Department is constantly training to maintain proficiency and their skill set. This sometimes includes hoisting exercises which mimic Guardian being used to rescue people from the sea, a sinking ship, or a casualty needed medical evacuation.
Winnipeg always sails with a Physician Assistant and a Medical Technician. This provides the ship with an enhanced medical capability in order to support and protect our sailors on deployment

Be sure to follow the ship’s social media pages for the latest updates, stories and photos!
Stories and imagery will be submitted whenever possible to The Lookout.
Imagery and highlights may also appear on RCN, CJOC and MARPAC social media feeds
Please help us tell our unique story!
