Indonesia is considering using WiMAX chipsets for wireless networks as internet and mobile services are growing rapidly. While WiMAX allows high-speed wireless connectivity and can support emerging services, its technology is still maturing and network equipment is more expensive than other options. Developing local chipset production could help Indonesia gain expertise, but the market is small and competition from other technologies remains.
