2. OverviewofModuleandModuleDescriptor
To introduce the fundamental concepts of the Web, the underlying protocols and
typical ways of delivering static and dynamic material from a server to a client. To
provide an introduction to computer and visual networked systems, particularly with a
digital, web-based future in mind.

Digital computer overview. System connectivity & Computer Networks
- I/O devices, CPU's, buses. - Peer-to-peer systems;
- Memory - RAM, ROM, PROM. - Client server systems;
- x86 processor family - Protocol stacks (TCP/IP);
- CMOS Ram and setup, BIOS. Visual systems
PC operating systems - eyes, vision
- Kernels, shells - colours, colour temperature
- MS DOS, UNIX - television
Networks, Internetwork connectivity - codecs
- FTP, Telnet, WWW - compression and data rates
