ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Cephas Zulu is a Telecommunications, Computing and
Electronics Engineer / Lecturer.
He has a Master of Science Degree majoring in telecoms
and minor computing, City & Guides Level 3, NCC edu-
cation level 5, and Post Graduate Certificate in Educa-
tion (PGCE) from University of West Minister UK.
He has vast knowledge of electronics, telecommunica-
tion, computing and teaching methodologies.
He is a former employee of Zamtel (1998-2004).
While in the UK, he Lectured and Assessed learners at
West –Thames College, Hounslow. (2004-2008)
He is a former Head of ICT Faculty and Senior Lecturer
at Cavendish University. Who among other duties de-
veloped curricula and teaching materials under the fac-
ulty. (2008-2014)
Currently, serves as IT Specialist and Lecturer at Living-
stone International University of Tourism Excellence and
Business Management (LIUTEBM).
ABOUT THE BOOK
 This text book has been written following strictly
the Zambia Computer Studies Syllabus.
 It introduces the learners to electronics engineer-
ing i.e. Logic Gates, Circuits and elementary pro-
gramming.
 It then builds on this knowledge to help students
understand processors and their different applica-
tions to electronics circuitry engineering
 It introduces HTML and PASCAL programming for
websites and databases respectively.
 It thereafter helps students appreciate the differ-
ent types of computers and networks looking at
their applications, advantages and disadvantages.
 The applications of computers and networks tack-
led include e-Banking, e-commerce, e-governance,
infotainment, telemedicine, e-learning, Computer
Simulations and industrial automation.
