Learning and teaching strategies:
Learners are required to actively participate and engage in heated discussion. In order to
achieve the desired outcome, a variety of learning and teaching styles are used such as
information gap activities, role plays and discussion questions. The teacher mainly follows
communicative approach in which the students are the centre of the class and the
teachers’ role is to facilitate and help the students with learning difficulties as well as

proving the feedback. In addition to that, different presentation tools are used to consider
learners difference such as videos, ppts and listening audios.
Aims:
The main aim of this course is to enhance the communication skills of the first year’s
students to enable them use the language in daily life and academic context. It tries to
reinforce their knowledge they have already acquired through listening, speaking, reading
and writing. The course also aims to break the barriers of the traditional teaching approach
and pave the way for the students to express themselves effectively and properly through
using engaging activities and games.
Learning Outcomes:
After successfully completion of the course students should be able to demonstrate a good
command of English in both spoken and written forms. They will also be able to develop
their accuracy as well as the fluency. However, fluency is more focused on in order to
enable the learners be more confident communicator and speakers

Contents:
The content is face2face second edition which is based on communicative language
teaching method. Its designed in a way that meet the students’ needs and wants in terms
of the content and the language for instance all the skills (listening, speaking, reading and
writing) are given special importance but there is a strong focus on listening and speaking
in social situations. The students are required to do their homework from the activity book
which comes in a package with the course book to recycle and reinforce what they have
learned in the class.
Assessments:
The weight (%) of each assessment must be predetermined and the total = 100
 Exams Mid-Term (%20) and Final (%60)
 Quizzes Minimum 2/semester or 4/year (5%)

Aims: The main aim of this course is to enhance the communication skills of the first year’s students to enable them use the language in daily life and academic context. Its designed in a way that meet the students’ needs and wants in terms of the content and the language for instance all the skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) are given special importance but there is a strong focus on listening and speaking in social situations. The students are required to do their homework from the activity book which comes in a package with the course book to recycle and reinforce what they have learned in the class.
