If a proportional relationship is described by the set
of ordered pairs that satisfies the equation y = kx,
where k is a positive constant, the k is called the
constant of proportionality. It is the value that
describes the multiplicative relationship between
two quantities, x and y. The (x, y) pairs represent
all the pairs of values that make the equation true.
