Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

1. identify different types of orchard farms;
After going through this module, you are expected to:
2. identify trees suited for orchard gardening based on location,
climate, and market demands;
3. know the proper way of planting/propagating trees and fruit
bearing trees
4. perform the proper way of planting, propagating trees and fruit
bearing trees;
5. appreciate the ways on how to care for seedlings.

Types of Orchard Farms
This lesson will discuss the different types of Orchard Farms that can be
considered in planting trees most especially for food production. It
comprises fruit- or nut producing trees which are generally grown for
commercial production. You will also discover the appropriate trees that
suit your place, since not all trees are equally well-suited for every
planting site or in every climate that we have in our country.

Different Types of Orchard
1. Fruit Orchards-
this orchard include any facility
that focused on growing tree-
bearing fruits such as citrus fruits,
papaya, mango, lime and avocado.

2. Nut Orchards –
these orchards include facilities
that produce nuts such as cashew,
pecan, walnut, almond, cacao,
coconut, and pine.
11. SLIDESMANIA.COM
3. Seed Orchards-
these orchards focus primarily on
growing trees that produce seeds sold
for commercial distribution or resale
purposes. They can be sold to agricultural
companies or used for food production.

3. Market
Demand
Market demand is the total quantity demanded
across all consumers in a market for a given
good. Aggregate demand is the total demand
for all goods and services in an economy.

Monsoon
Season
It is considered to be the best for planting
evergreen fruit trees like citrus, mango, and
guava.
A monsoon is traditionally a seasonal reversing wind accompanied by corresponding changes in precipitation, but is now used to
describe seasonal changes in atmospheric circulation and precipitation associated with the asymmetric heating of land and sea.

Plant
propagation
Plant propagation is the process of reproducing or creating a new plant or
seedling. It is an important part of gardening, whether outdoors or indoors.
Plants are living things that grow either through their roots, stems and
leaves of their flowers, fruits, and seeds. It is a method of growing new
plants from seed or from parts of existing plants. This lesson will discuss
the proper way of planting and propagating trees, their sources and ways
to care for the seedlings.
35. SLIDESMANIA.COM

process that grows new
plants from a variety of
sources: seeds, cuttings,
and other plant parts.

38. SLIDESMANIA.COM
Sexual Propagation- is the method of reproducing and multiplying plants
using seeds. This is the most common and easiest method of propagating plants. Many fruit tree
varieties are propagated from seeds
39. SLIDESMANIA.COM
Asexual Propagation- is the method of plant propagation that is done without the help of the
reproductive organs of the plants. This is the production of new plants from leaves, stems and
roots. It can be done manually, either naturally or using a scientific approach.

Artificial
Processes in
Propagating Trees
A tree is a tall plant with a trunk and branches made of wood. Trees can
live for many years.A single tree has many roots. The roots carry nutrients
and water from the ground through the trunk and branches to the leaves
of the tree. They can also breathe in air.
42. SLIDESMANIA.COM
Marcotting or Air layering – this is the simplest method of
propagating plants usually done during rainy season. It induces the
stem to develop roots while it is still growing on the mother plant.

43. SLIDESMANIA.COM
Steps in marcotting:
1. Select the right
branch.
2. Make a deep cut
3. Peel of the bark
4. Wrap it with a ball of
soil
5. Wrap with plastic
sheet
6. Tie the end
7. See the root through
the plasting sheet
8. Remove the wrapper
9. Prune the rooted
branch

propagation method that
involves inserting a scion into
a stock so that it will form a
union and grow together.

Budding-this method of plant
propagation that used single bud
from the desired
scion rather than an entire scion
containing many buds.
Budding is a type of asexual reproduction in which a new organism develops from an outgrowth or bud due to cell division at
one particular site. ... These buds develop into tiny individuals and, when fully mature, detach from the parent body and
become new independent individuals.

CARING FOR SEEDLINGS
1. Proper Selection of Seeds-the use of good and healthy seeds ensures
quality and high yield; it means a big income for the growers.
2. Testing of Seeds- plant growers can determine the germinating ability
of the seeds by testing them.
3. Storing of Seeds-the life of the seed must be ensured when storing it.
52. SLIDESMANIA.COM
a. Visual inspection method
• Scoop a handful of seeds. Check the composition of
the seeds.
• Remove immature, broken, undersized, diseased
and infested seeds, weed seeds, stones and other
impurities.
b. Dish Method
• Line the dish with moist tissue paper and
some seeds.
• Cover it with another sheet of moist
tissue paper.
53. SLIDESMANIA.COM
c. Rag-Doll Method
• Place the seeds apart from each other in a damp
cloth.
• Roll the cloth on a piece of stick to circulate air.
• Count the number of seeds that germinated after
3 days.
d. Seed Box Method
• Place several seeds in a seed box and sprinkle
with water.
• Count the seeds that germinated after several
days.
• Compute for the percentage of germination using
this formula: Number of Seeds Germinated Number
of seeds sown x100 = Percentage of Germination
