Reading literary pieces becomes a challenge to a student like
you. But as the years go by, changes happened even in the
literary genre. Understanding the selection you read takes time,
but if you will familiarize yourself with the context of the
literary piece, appreciation comes along.

Visual Imagery - most common form of imagery. As we now know, it

words that appeal to the senses.
Gustatory Imagery is a form of imagery that has to do with our taste buds.

would melt his tongue… until he tasted the warm drops of caramel.”
Tactile Imagery – this deals with our sense of touch. For example,
“the splash of boiling water bounced off the counter and singed her skin.”
Auditory Imagery – the form of imagery that calls to our sense of hearing. For
example, “She found it difficult to fall asleep in the quiet cottage. Where were the
blaring sirens and the sounds of midnight ramblers rolling through the streets?”

Directions: Below is a poem written by Danton Remoto, a
Filipino author. Read and try to discover what this poem wants

of the Ateneo Municipal,
Shivering
On this December morning.
It talks about the perspective of
Padre Faura on the day of the
execution of Rizal where it is

shivering even mixed in with cold

temporary punishment in which according to medieval Christian and
roman catholic belief, the soul of those who die in a state of grace
are made ready to heaven.
