Thermodynamic simulation of year round air conditioning system for variable r...eSAT Journals
Abstract This paper presents a study on different kinds of air conditioning systems in association to existing one to use through of the year. The system have generally desiccant wheel, evaporative cooler, heating coils and cooling coil. Mainly the system imparts all three regular weather conditions. Like hot and dry, hot and wet and cool and dry. For this the out let condition will be fixed 25 dry bulb temperature (DBT) and 50% relative humidity. In the present paper, for maintaining room condition thermodynamic simulation is being done. If rotational speed of desiccant wheel is changed, the year round air conditioning equipments change own parameter to maintain the room condition .The paper also shows the variation in supply condition of air, volume of cellulose cooling pad of evaporating cooler, temperature of cooling coil in hot and wet weather conditions with respect to rotational speed of desiccant wheel (6 to 24rph).The outlet temperature of desiccant wheel increases 52.96 to 63.28°C.The efficiency of desiccant wheel increases where as saturation efficiency of evaporative cooler decreases. The volume of cooling pad decreases from 547.99 to 439.54 cm3 w.r.t. the rotational speed of desiccant wheel. The DBT and the specific humidity of supply air remain constant with the change of rotational speed of desiccant wheel. Key Words: Heating coil, Cooling coil, Desiccant Wheel, Cellulose cooling pad, Supply condition.
Max Tech and Beyond Appliance Design Competition Winning PresentationUS Department of Energy
Max Tech and Beyond challenged university teams to design and build energy efficient appliances that go beyond current technology on the market. As part of the competition, teams had to present their results during a webinar on May 23, 2012. The presentation from the winning team -- the University of Maryland -- explains its design for a wall air conditioner with separate systems for cooling and removing moisture from indoor air.

Enhancement of the processes of desiccant aireSAT Journals
Abstract An experimental study was carried out to evaluate the liquid desiccant system performance during dehumidification and humidification processes using air injection through the liquid desiccant solution (Calcium Chloride). The air flows cross the desiccant solution with different air mass flow rates. The system is studied at different operating condition (air flow rate, temperature, humidity ratio and solution levels). The effectiveness of the proposed system for both dehumidification and humidification processes were evaluated. Also, the cooling effect and mass transfer coefficient was obtained. It is found that the system effectiveness reached 0.75 in the dehumidification process and 0.7 in the humidification process. Mass transfer coefficient depends on the air mass flow rate and the desiccant solution level in the tank Economical Results of the presented system is estimated Keywords : Air humidification , Air dehumdificaion, Liquid Desiccant

Multipurpose Energy Saving Manual Compressor for Artisans in African CountriesDr. Amarjeet Singh
This Research work involves the design,
fabrication and testing of a manually operated compressor
for use of artisans and small scale vulcanizing activities.
The developed machine consists of chain sprocket
arrangement to a flywheel attached to a pulley which
powers the compressor as well as a storage tank to receive
air by foot pedaling. The article is an innovative product to
meet the needs of rural African Artisans that uses air
compressor for their daily activities . The design is such
that the chain sprocket provides the compressor with a
driving force in conjunction with the flywheel thereby
replacing the prime mover. Prototype pilot test carried out
on the developed manual air compressor could generates 10
Psi ie 0.69bar-volume of air in 60 seconds. A new design
with better parameter of the machine was done to improve
it’s proficiency after testing for broad application even for
the handicap Artisans.
Industry 4.0: Merging Internet and FactoriesFabernovel
Industrial IoT and connected objects for factories are part of our research at FABERNOVEL OBJET, our activity dedicated to IoT.
The future of industry is at the crossroads of internet and factories. Some call it INDUSTRY 4.0 or FACTORY 4.0 in reference to the upcoming fourth industrial revolution. Governments and private companies in Germany, UK and the USA have acknowledged the importance of industrial IoT and its central role in future industrial transformation.
The adoption of Industrial Internet has both near-term and long-term impacts and will be characterized by the emergence of new models such as the “Outcome Economy” and the “Autonomous, Pull Economy”.
We believe that INDUSTRY 4.0 is a growth opportunity for industrial companies, and have decrypted this very phenomenon in the following presentation.
Manufacturing Professionals need to recognise Compressed Air as an essential utility and also that the cost of compressed air add to the cost of the product. An Air Audit can lead to recognition of weaknesses in compressed air production, filtration, transmission, storage, instrumentation etc; and thus start the process of elimination of waste in this area.
On the road to green machines...how oem's can improve the energy efficiency o...Schneider Electric
While many OEMs are aware of new technologies to
make machines more energy-efficient, they are
reluctant to make changes due to the perception
that it will make their machines more expensive to
sell. The constraints of cost reduction, usage of
resources and energy reduction are becoming key
drivers in the industry as consumers require
manufacturers to be more “green”. This paper
demonstrates how incorporating sustainable
design can add value to their machines and
differentiate OEMs from the competition.
