Raahgiri Day is an initiative to reclaim streets as public spaces and encourage physical activity by closing streets to vehicles on Sundays and having community events. It started in Delhi in 2013 and has since spread to over 23 cities in India. On Raahgiri Days, all ages, incomes, occupations, religions and races meet in the streets to socialize, participate in activities and understand how streets can be made more people-friendly. Surveys found that 80% of participants reduced daily car trips and 87% started walking or cycling for short trips after experiencing Raahgiri Day. The initiative is supported by various groups including authorities, corporations, NGOs, RWAs, schools, volunteers and media. It aims
