  1. Historians show smartphones being available as far back as the 1970s with the IBM Simon Personal Communicator. Until the introduction of the iPhone in 2007, smartphones were primarily used in business settings for checking email and other work tasks. Today, smartphones cater to the mass consumer market allowing them to perform a wide variety of tasks. With the introduction of other smart devices, including wearables, tablets, beacons and other location services, and drones, the question to ask is if mobile is still an emerging technology, or are we past the mobile tipping point? Smartphone sales in 2015 reached an estimated 1.5 billion devices. Wearables and tablets were estimated to have sold 300+ million devices in 2015. It is predicted that by 2030, emerging economies will have 50% mobile internet subscriptions.
  2. What’s more important with these statistics is how this relates to travel. Did you know that you and your fellow travelers are leading trends across the world? Travelers set the standard for how and to what extent people use their mobile devices. Then, as the technology becomes more common, other consumers follow suit.  Travelers reported using their phone to plan or book a trip, organize their plans, and to find their way around while traveling.
  3. Now for some interesting stats the TripCase team gathered from our own one billion targeted messages sent in 2015. We know that your chance of receiving a flight notification can be calculated by your destination. If you are traveling to China and receive a flight notification, departure time changes are the most likely culprit. Travelers bound for Brazil are most likely learning about gate changes in their flight notifications.
  4. As mobile technology advances, so do the needs of travelers throughout their journey. Shown here, functionality like maps, itinerary information, and flight details have increased in adoption across both smartphones and tablets.
  5. Ground transportation has become more accessible than ever with the innovations to taxi-hailing and ride-sharing. With companies like Uber, Lyft, Taxi Deutschland, and BlaBlaCar, travelers are easily able to access ground transportation, enter pick-up and drop-off locations, and even pay directly through the app.
  6. Now that we’ve looked at mobile technology trends and the traveler, I want to introduce you to Sabre’s solution. TripCase gives travelers a single place to manage their trips. Connected to powerful technology and travel companies. TripCase is an itinerary management app that delivers the right information at the right time
  7. As we saw previously, consumers are using a number of different devices. Travelers access their itinerary information at different times and have different needs depending on where they are in their trip. TripCase is available across a number of devices to ensure travelers are able to access the important trip details with the method that is most convenient for them. A traveler with a smartwatch can get a gate change notification on their wrist while a traveler at home can access their itinerary on an ipad to finish perfecting their itinerary.
  8. TripCase offers travelers a number of features to help them throughout their trips. The top 5 tools offered include: Seat maps, allowing travelers to view their seats on their plane Maps of their location and directions to trip items Easy access to alternate flights Quick share capabilities to send their travel plans to friends and family Weather for their destination
  9. Uber is available in 58 countries, allowing users to instantly request a ride and pay via their mobile device. TripCase users can request an Uber ride utilizing the TripCase app. Destinations are pre-populated for the best user experience.
  10. We saw some interesting stats on flight notifications by country. Keeping travelers updated as they are in transit is key to a successful, stress free trip. TripCase provides flight notifications directly to the traveler, letting them know about changes including delays, cancellations, reinstatements, and gate changes.   11. We’ve seen TripCase from the traveler’s perspective, now lets focus on the agency. TripCase is an itinerary management solution allowing agencies touch points with their travelers throughout their trip using document delivery and a traveler facing mobile application.

  15. For those reservations booked outside of Sabre, TripCase offers an Import API that auto-imports those bookings into TripCase. Trip items will be linked to a traveler’s TripCase account by matching the traveler’s email address. Once trip items are auto-loaded, the will stay synched to reflect any changes.
