2. Current mobile
marketing strategy
Currently, Edukans has not an active mobile marketing strategy. There is no
app available in the app store/play store and although the websites in Dutch
and English are available on mobile screens, they are not very clear. When the
website is shown on a mobile screen, the size of the website adapts to the
screen, but the same information as on the normal website is shown, what
makes the website very long on a mobile screen.
3. Recommendations
First, it is very recommendable for Edukans to develop a website operating
especially on mobile devices. The same information should be available on this
mobile website, but shown in a format attractive on mobile devices. This means
that less information can be shown on one webpage, due to the smaller screens,
and the same amount of information should be divided into subpages.
4. Recommendations
Second, an enormous opportunity for Edukans is developing a mobile app
available for all mobile phone users. A lot of things can be done via this app.
Information about the organization should be available, but also about the
current projects the organization is working on. Every time a group is travelling
to one of these projects, it would be a nice opportunity to follow these groups via
the app, so that people are able to closely follow a project group.
5. Option to donate
The option to donate should be available at any time, or at least very easy to find
in this app. People are very mobile nowadays, and in general they are willing to
make donations via their smartphone/mobile phone. Often this option is quicker
than via a desktop computer/laptop, as they have their smartphone always close
with them (Double the Donation, 2017).
6. Option to donate
Regarding this option to donate via the mobile app, it should be easy to make
recurring donations. Two donations are always better than just one. Therefore it
is important to have the possibility to make recurring donations. If this is one, a
one-time donor can easily become a habitual gift-giver. In order to achieve this,
the donating process should be intuitive. The number of required fields when
making a donation should be very limited, and it is important for the organization
that they thank the donor via a special message. Donation amounts can be
suggested and all forms of payment should be accepted, in order to make the
process easy (Double the Donation, 2017).
7. Donate for special
event/project
There should also be a possibility to donate money for a specific project/a
specific event. For example, if the organization wants to provide an education for
refugees in a certain country, or wants to provide education in a country after a
catastrophe, people should be able to donate specifically for this project. People
might be more likely to donate for a specific project when they heard about it in
the news for example, and it should be clear that Edukans is supporting this
project (Double the Donation, 2017).
8. Mobile Marketing
The bottom line of mobile marketing for NGO organizations is that it could easily
open up many new fundraising opportunities, which are a lot less easily
accessible without mobile marketing (Snyder, 2018).
