Editor's Notes
Social Media Marketing has had a bad reputation because most people think traditional marketing is still the way to go. In this presentation I will explain to you how you will benefit from using social media marketing vs. traditional marketing.
When it comes to traditional marketing vs. social media marketing there has been a great debate on which route is better to go with. When it comes to traditional marketing, you must have your employees print flyers, business cards, etc, and either hand them out or agree/pay for another company to hand them out. Here’s where social media is a better option for you! If you choose to utilize social media you can use a website as simple as facebook, create a page and have one person or maybe even a few people post updates, virtual ads, and specials. With using social media networking you are also able to use the value of word-of-mouth. Which in its self makes marketing just that much easier. When it comes to traditional marketing you have to go out find your customer, convert them to your product, and keep them as a consumer. As to where social media gives you an easier way of finding customers (through word of mouth) and converting them shouldn’t be a problem, after all if they like the service you offer you are already doing better than the company that they used before.
If you were to review the statistics on Social Media marketing you would find that the average social user utilizes social media for most purchases. About 75% of people are likely to share content they like online, this in itself will spread faster than one would think. Not to mention social media marketing tends to double the leads that your company would receive vs. using traditional marketing. And lets face it Facebook seems to be one of the biggest social media networks around, so where could you go wrong by utilizing facebook? I mean in all reality 1,000 page likes could potentially lead to 1,400 page visits a day! Then you have another leading social media, twitter, 59% of twitter users are more likely to visit a business to business tech brand site vs. a Business to Consumer site, I personally see a lot of potential for your company in these finding’s alone! Also, don’t forget that at least 46% of online users will count on social media when it comes to making purchases. A good reputation will follow a good company!
There are 8 Easy steps to converting your business to Social Media Marketing! The first thing you are going to want to do is write down your objectives, i.e. how many products you want to sell by when, or how many people you want to attract to your business within a certain time frame. Secondly, you are going to know your target audience, are you targeting business accounts, or personal accounts? You also want to take the time to consider what your competition is doing in your area (or nationwide), are they offering better rates or cheaper services? After considering what your competition is doing and offering what can your company do that over rides what your competition is offering? If needed you maybe want to find a support site such as Socialoomph or Tweetdeck, but support sites are only needed if you don’t have the employ staff to back social media. The way to figure out if you have the staff to keep up with your social media marketing is to see if there are any employees that have very little work, per say a receptionist, if your receptionist is doing very little work than they can support your site. Finding good support and having a plan to have daily consistency go hand in hand, if you have someone who is underworked than steps 6 and 7 can be easily be resolved within your company. If not you can seek out outside help to complete steps number 6 and 7. Creating a form of measurement, this can be done in many of ways. One way if you have an employee who can track monthly reports on social media websites (these monthly reports are free most of the time), or you can have a support site do this for you, its all about what resources you have available or what you are willing to go out and find.
Out weighting the pros and cons of social media marketing. When it comes to social media marketing the return on your investment has the potential to have a higher return. Why you may ask, because the more people that like your products, the more it is spread! Another huge pro is community building, I say this because companies make more money off of repeat business vs. one time sales. Building a community of repeat sales will launch your business higher than you could have ever imagined! The one con to social media marketing is knowing if your customers are highly active on the internet, which in your case is almost always a yes, seeming you run an IT networking business, and if your customers are not highly active online than there is a good chance that they are not doing their jobs properly.
As I conclude my presentation on social media marketing I would like to leave you with 7 steps that will ensure YOUR social media marketing is above the rest. Always remember to remember to listen to what your consumers have to say then talk back, as well as always responding to questions, complaints, or compliments consumers may have. Always try to tell about your services before trying to sell them! Do whatever you can to advertise the best against your competitors. Try as much as you can to give things away, such as a free computer scanning or virus removal, this will help word of mouth immensely! And always remember to just be you, the company as a whole, and always be grateful for the business that you do acquire!
