In a, traditional, fast paced North American oil field, there is little time to learn new processes, which would take time away from the real work. Despite a company standard set around SAP PM, areas that are new to SAP PM lack resources to spend time clicking through screens and managing the complex SAP PM system. In order to gain support and streamline the processes at Marathon Oil, the company used Synactive’s GuiXT to simplify the user interface. Without upgrading SAP or any additional SAP software, using GuiXT allowed Marathon to be able to select key roles and display only relevant fields for that user. Technicians in the field are able to use failure codes with a few clicks of the mouse, with almost no typing required. The SAP-certified GuiXT technology enabled Marathon to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall maintenance.
