Where can Kanban be embedded in the organizational context? Sounds like an easy question, however, it is not always easy to answer - especially in bigger organizations. In this session I will introduce the Kanban Flight Levels model which provides an overview of the different fields of application of Kanban and helps to understand the implications for the organizational context. Furthermore, the model helps to clarify where to start with your Kanban change initiative: on team level, on the value stream, or on portfolio level - every level has it's own challenges, pros and cons.

A shift that promises to boost productivity, time to market, quality, customer satisfaction, revenue, and a host of other vital business metrics. It promises to transform the organization to a leaner, more agile version of itself, primed to innovate effortlessly and outperform its competition at every turn. Most organizations who have tried to establish LPM find the reality to be more nuanced than that. These companies end up implementing “Imitation LPM” where actions and some process changes may be in place and functioning, but the real promise of LPM- the increased agility and reduced waste- is not occurring. Real LPM assumes that work is funded by value streams with teams organized around delivery of products and services that are valuable to customers. This is, perhaps, the hardest part of implementing LPM. In part 1 of this webinar we explored how signs of imitation LPM show up in an organization’s approach to strategy. Actual is a relative term when it comes to business value delivered by a SAFe PI Objective. In this talk we will explore techniques for validating the actual value delivered by SAFe Teams and ARTs based on real-world outcomes that can be evaluated post-release. RTEs, Product Management and Lean/Agile Leaders will be able to assess their current ability to validate value and learn specific practices they could add to their artifacts and events. Finally, we will take a deeper look at optionality and hypothesis-driven thinking in SAFe and challenge the comfort zone on how to properly use some of SAFe’s essential elements in this context. Scalability is currently a big topic in the agile world. Most agile methods and practices often reach their limits when one wants to “agilize" more than a few teams, let alone one wants to achieve real agile collaboration of several hundert people. The main problem is that many agile methods focus on the team. Kanban follows a completely different path - Kanban is not a team method! Kanban is a management method which focuses on generating value. "Manage work and not workers" is one of the key messages of the Lean Kanban management philosophy. Therefore, scalability is not a real topic within Kanban: if you focus on value generation of work, scaling Kanban simple means doing more Kanban - it’s inherent scalable. In this session I show how one could use Kanban at scale. Besides the general schematic explanation I will also show a case study where Kanban is used to coordinate work of more than 200 people.

Agile is about mindset, this mindset is established through 4 values, grounded by 12 principles, and manifested through many different practices. Agile is a transformation from “fixed mindset” to “growth mindset”. Agile is a shift of thinking for the way of how we run a knowledge work from “defined process” to “empirical process”, Agile is a paradigm shift of how we manage work (specially knowledge work) from “coordination & control” to “inspect & adapt”. So, Agile is all about mindset, and it’s very important to understand this mindset in order to succeed the transformation to Agility that allows us to deal with complexity and uncertainty by established set of attitudes and habits toward a work like: failing early, learning through discovery, welcoming change, continuous delivery and continuous improvement, self-organizing team, collaboration and communication, build in feedback loops...etc, and when we really understand the Agile mindset we can use the Agile practices and tools as “Shu” level of instructions and guidance in the journey from “Doing Agile” to “Being Agile”, this journey that requires a lot of education and learning.

Scenarios are the central artifact of the Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) process. Data access can bottleneck end-to-end machine learning pipelines as training data volume grows and when large model files are more commonly used for serving. For instance, data loading can constitute nearly 80% of the total model training time, resulting in less than 30% GPU utilization. Also, loading large model files for deployment to production can be slow because of slow network or storage read operations. These challenges are prevalent when using popular frameworks like PyTorch, Ray, or HuggingFace, paired with cloud object storage solutions like S3 or GCS, or downloading models from the HuggingFace model hub. In this presentation, Lu and Siyuan will offer comprehensive insights into improving speed and GPU utilization for model training and serving.
