This document provides a checklist for properly formatting a document using MLA style. It lists the following key requirements: set the font to 12-point Times New Roman, use 1-inch margins on all sides, double space all lines, include a header with the last name and page number in the top right of each page, indent all paragraphs, and write out numbers as words unless they are very large numbers that take three or more words to write out. The title should be centered and capitalized, and there should be no extra spacing between paragraphs.

• Make the font size 12.
• Make the font "Times New Roman."
• Make the margins 1 inch wide on all sides.
• Double space the lines (2.0 spacing).
• Put your name, teacher's name, class name, and assignment due date in
the upper left corner of page 1.
• Create a header in the upper right corner of your document with your last
name and page number.
• Give your story an original title, place it before your first paragraph,
center align it, and capitalize the main words.
• Indent all of your paragraphs.
• Make sure there is no extra space after paragraphs.
• Make sure every sentence starts with a capital letter.
• Make sure there is a space between each sentence. (Only one space
between sentences).
• Make sure there are double quotation marks around all dialogue (“ ”).
• Make sure you have written all numbers as words (unless numbers are
very large).

4. Page Numbering
Put your last name and page number in the upper
right corner of your document.
Pages:
Click on header and select “insert page number”

5. Google Docs:
Click on “insert” > “header.”
Next, click on “insert” > “page number.”

Create a unique, original title.
It should NOT say something like “My Personal
Narrative” or “My Hero’s Journey.”

Always double-space your lines. (That means 2.0
spacing…not 1.5 or 1.7 spacing!). Also, spacing should
be even and consistent throughout the entire essay.
