1 Explain the different types and components of shopping malls.
Answer : Types :
Neighbourhood centre
A neighbourhood centre in the form of a strip mall, in Cornelius, Oregon
Neighbourhood centres are small-scalemallsservingthe local neighbourhood. They typically have a
supermarket or a drugstore as an anchor, and are commonly arranged in a strip mall format.
Community centre
Community centres(orcommunitymalls) are largerthan neighbourhood centres, and offer a wider
range of goods. They usually feature two anchor stores which are larger than that of a
neighbourhood centres, e.g. a discount department store.
Regional centre
2 Explain different models for malls.
Answer : There are many models for malls. The provision of more entertainment options in malls,
Indianretailersnowhave vastlyenhanced their ability to increase sales. Till a couple of years back,
street markets and bazaars were the top performers in the retail space, and they cornered a huge
chunkof the overall salesin the sector. However, traditional markets now have to imitate malls by
creating a better overall shopping experience for attracting potential customers.
