3. ABSTRACT
The traditional mode of construction for individual houses comprising load bearing walls with an
appropriate roof above or reinforced concrete (RC) framed structure construction with infill masonry walls
would be totally inadequate for mass housing construction industry in view of the rapid rate of
construction. For undertaking mass housing works, it is necessary to have innovative technologies which
are capable of fast rate construction and are able to deliver good quality and durable structure in cost
effective manner. Several systems are adopted at different places in the world; eventually the systems
which are reasonably economical and easy for operation with skilled labour are useful in India. Certain
systems are in vogue and more and more contractors are trying to bring in new technologies. These are
essentially based on the basis of mode of construction, namely, pre-cast construction or in-situ
construction.
Keywords: Components, cost, comparison with conventional system, construction speed.
4. INTRODUCTION
Mivan is the brand name from far East, Malaysia.
It is a Aluminium Alloy Formwork.
The system of Aluminium forms (MIVAN) has been used
widely in the construction of residential units and mass
housing projects.
It is fast, simple, adaptable and cost effective it produces
total quality work which requires minimum maintenance
and when durability is the prime consideration.
Aluminium formwork system is a comparatively a new
technology in India.
5. HISTORY & BACKGROUND
Mivan is basically an aluminium formwork system
developed by one of the construction company from
Europe the mivan company Ltd from Malaysia started
the manufacturing of such formwork system.
Now a Days more than 30000 sq m of formwork used
in the world are under their operation. In Mumbai,
India there are number of buildings constructed with
the help of the above system. Which has proved to be
very economical and satisfactory for Indian
construction environment.
6. MIVAN FORMWORK AND ITS USES IN INDIA
Mivan Technology has not been used widely in India but is very popular in gulf countries, Europe
and some parts of Asia.
Its Use is being preferred in India to complete the most challenging government scheme – Housing
for all by 2022.
7. CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURE
1. Setting up of reinforcement
The wall reinforcing steel is given from the footing to the bottom level of the slab as given in the
design.
It is used to give a structure to the building and the support the building.
8. 2. Placing of Aluminium Formwork
All formwork is cleaned and coated with an
approved realize agents.
The wall reinforcing steel is placed with the floor
slab.
Along with the wall reinforcing steel, prefabricated
room-sized walls panels and floor slabs panels are
erected.
Plumb, level, and dimensions are checked.
The aluminum alloy slabs are accurately made as
per the required sizes.
Spaces for windows, ducts, doors and other features
such as staircases, façade panels, and chajjas are
also integrated into these structures.
The forms are then joined together using the pin
and wedge system, which can be dismantled
quickly after the concrete structure is made.

16. ADVANTAGES OF MIVAN FORMWORK
High-quality formwork ensures consistency of dimensions.
On removal of the mold, a high-quality concrete finish is produced to accurate tolerances and
verticality.
The total system forms the complete concrete structures.
Custom designed to suit project requirements.
Unsurpassed construction speed.
Panels can be reused up to 250 time
It can be erected using unskilled labor.
17. LIMITATIONS OF MIVAN FORMWORK
Even though there are so many advantages of MIVAN formwork the limitations cannot be ignored
However the limitations do not pose any serious Problems
They are as Follow
Because of small sizes finishing lines are seen on the concrete surfaces.
Concealed services become difficult due to small thickness of components.
It requires uniform planning as well as uniform elevations to be cost effective.
Modifications are not possible as all members are caste in RCC

20. CONCLUSION
The intention of this paper is not provide a detailed comparison or explain the technical
features of mivan formwork system in depth Instead of these aims to show the overview,
condition & constraints governing in the use of mivan formwork system under the typical
local circumstances.
It can be concluded that the modern method of construction such as “Mivan Formwork
System” are the key to meeting the demand for efficient, Sustainable housing also the quality
and speed must be given due consideration with regards to economy
