Wetlands PowerPoint

1. Marshes. By: Tyler Franz, Thomas Keller, Carrie Long, and Katie Staquet.

2. Description: A marsh is a low lying wet land with grassy vegetation; usually is a transition zone between land and water.

3. Location: Marshes stretch out to the north of Kushiro in eastern Hokkaido.

4. Marshes found in the U.S Florida Everglades, Bay Area Salt Marshes.

5. Plant life present: Narrow-leaved cattail arrowhead, arrow arum, pickerel weed, sweetflag, spatter dock, and north wild rice. There is more than 360 species of plants.

6. Animal life present: Muskrats, gray squirrels, cotton tail rabbits, shrews, field mice, river otters, red fox, little brown bats and whitetail deer.

7. Importance: Animal Haven (many varieties of animal live there)

8. Saving the wetland: (what can be done/what is currently being done) You can join a project being done to help. Research is also being done on marshes, and projects are directly rebuilding marshes.
