The optical and infrared spectroscopy industry is undergoing a major transformation akin to the computer industry. The size and weight of the instruments are shrinking from bench-top size to pocket-size. The cost is decreasing, and the performance continues to improve beyond just being acceptable. These miniature handheld spectrometers such as near infrared (NIR) spectrometers are creating new populations of users taking measurements in the field by nontechnical workers that were previously conducted in the laboratory by technical personnel. The tests are non-destructive and fast, taking only a few seconds to complete. This capability allows for obtaining real-time results that, in turn, lead to more efficient decision making. Users include farmers who would use their handheld NIR analyzers for a whole host of applications from analyzing the nutritional content of their forage for animal feed optimization to analyzing the nutritional content of their crop for determining the value of their yield, or for analyzing the soil for fertilization optimization.

This document discusses the growth and characterization of GaN nanowall networks (NWNs) on sapphire substrates using plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy. Four samples with different surface morphologies were grown and analyzed. Photoluminescence measurements showed up to two orders of magnitude enhancement for rougher and porous structures compared to smoother surfaces, due to increased light scattering out of the material. Transmission electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction analysis revealed the mosaic crystal structure of the nanowall films contributes to enhanced light extraction. Controlling the nanowall morphology provides a method to improve light extraction efficiency for GaN-based optoelectronic devices.

This study determined radiological quality parameters using an optical densitometer and simple fabricated equipment. A wooden step wedge and metal pin were exposed to x-rays and their optical densities were measured. The results showed that simple fabricated equipment can determine parameters like dose, beam alignment, peak kilovoltage and tube current consistency without specialized quality control equipment. Optical density was directly proportional to factors like kilovoltage, tube charge and dose. Beam alignment was within acceptable limits. Therefore, simple fabricated devices can be used to establish quality protocols and monitor parameters in areas lacking quality control testing equipment.

The research about the effect of carbon fiber on cobalt-60 teletherapy type GWXJ80 to the depth dose when gamma rays passed the carbon fiber couch and its effect to the surface dose has been conducted. Depth dose has been measured using ionization detector 0.65cc Extradin A12 model with the buildup cup that is connected to the electrometer Max4000 (Standard Imaging). Depth dose data have been obtained from 5 cm, 6 cm, 7 cm and 9 cm of depth with angle variations of each depth are from 0o - 360o (10o angle interval ). The result of measurement has been processed using TRS398 protocol. The Surface dose measurement were performed using Gafchromic EBT2 film which was placed on the surface of slab phantom with and without carbon fiber. Irradiation field of this measurement were 6x6cm2, 8x8cm2, 10x10cm2, 12x12cm2, 14x14cm2, 16x16cm2 and 18x18cm2. The reading results of optic density using X-RITE densitometer were converted to dose refering the characteristic curve graph of Gafchromic EBT2 that had been prepared. Characteristic curve of the film have been made by giving 25cGy, 50cGy, 100cGy, 150cGy, 200cGy, 250cGy and 300cGy of dose to film strip in 2,5x3cm2 of field. The result of this research showed that in 5cm, 6cm, 7cm, 8cm and 9cm of the depth, can be obtained transmission factors 0.954, 0.952, 0.951, 0.950 and 0.948. A great transmission factor change occured at the gantry angle position at 100o to 120o. Carbon fiber application for the surface dose increased the relative dose from 10.9% into 37.4% (6x6cm2), 16.9% into 48.39% (8x8cm2), 23.0% into 63.3% (10x10cm2), 29.2% into 75.4% (12x12cm2), 33.3% into 80.1% (14x14cm2), 37% into 86.9% (16x16cm2) and 43.3% into 91.2% (18x18cm2).

This document summarizes research on improving cement and concrete properties through the addition of nano-materials. It provides optimization levels for unary additions of nano-silica (0.75%), carbon nanotubes (0.02%), and titanium dioxide (1%) based on compressive strength testing up to 28 days. However, binary and ternary combinations of these nano-materials did not produce clear strength gains compared to plain cement mortar. The document presents a study on reducing the size and increasing the bandwidth of a rectangular printed antenna. A rectangular microstrip patch antenna is modified by cutting unequal narrow slits at the patch edges. Simulation results show the antenna size is reduced by 43.38% and bandwidth is enhanced to 13.78%. Multiple resonant frequencies and impedance bandwidth are achieved between 8.44-9.69 GHz. The antenna efficiency and gain are also evaluated through simulation at different frequencies, demonstrating the design's effectiveness as a compact broadband antenna.

Conversion of transfer function to canonical state variable models
Realization of transfer function into state variable models is needed even if the control system design based on frequency-domain design method.
In these cases the need arises for the purpose of transient response simulation.
But there is not much software for the numerical inversion of Laplace transform.
So one ways is to convert transfer function of the system to state variable description and numerically integrating the resulting differential equations rather than attempting to compute the inverse Laplace transform by numerical method.

Conversion of transfer function to canonical state variable models
Realization of transfer function into state variable models is needed even if the control system design based on frequency-domain design method.
In these cases the need arises for the purpose of transient response simulation.
But there is not much software for the numerical inversion of Laplace transform.
So one ways is to convert transfer function of the system to state variable description and numerically integrating the resulting differential equations rather than attempting to compute the inverse Laplace transform by numerical method.

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity server
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).
