Milestone1
Section1:
In the May 2010years in the China Gansu Zhouqu County ,
Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture was hit by a wave of
serious natural disasters, the catastrophic mudslides. The
mudslides buried the areas under as much as 7meters of
suffocating sludge. Have a 1.765 people died in that disasters,
and the damages totaled a $759 million.
Section 2
Earth cycle include carbon cycle, water cycle and others.
Human activities also affect the earth system and affect the
earth cycle. “The sister coming is when Water, Phosphorus,
Nitrogen, and Carbon. doesn't have sufficient amounts of that
nutrient, all the other cycles don't work properly. The most
important change is because the Carbon and Water.” (Mudslide
in Sicuan province) The definition in the Wikipedia of
Landside“is a form of mass wasting that includes a wide range
of ground movements, such as rockfalls, deep failure of slopes,
and shallow debris flows.” “Slope material that becomes
saturated with water may develop into a debris flow or mud
flow”. (Wikipedia) I also find the weather and climate in recent
year of Gansu China; I find the rainfall are increased. So in
other way we also can say the landside of the Gansu have the
reason of the increased rainfall. And in the process of I finding
the information, my analysis was confirmed, The People's Daily
has argued that the mudslide was due to a "perfect storm" of
natural events, including "soft" "weathered" rock, heavy rainfall
and drought.”
Section 3.
I think whether these influencing factors have been consistent
over time. the ecosystem on earth is a cycle. Also the each
component interacts each other.
The exchange of material and energy will forming a rich
natural resource and
the earth environment suitable of human existence. It also
breeds many natural disasters that endanger human beings. the
“influencing will not change in the earth cycle.
Section 4.
I think some risk of a repeat even are being reduce by human
scientific efforts. We through study, we have basically
recognized with the disaster such as landslides, mudslides,
desertification, rocky desertification, water pollution.Humans
have proposed solutions and prevention measures to prevent
disasters. We also do some work for research the earth cycle
effect , explore the coordination and balance of the earth
system, study the various components of the earth system links
between interaction, provide abundant natural resources for
human society. People are using their own efforts to reduce
risk.

milestone 2
Gansu mudslides
Section 1
Water cycle involves the natural movement of water on earth
while carbon cycle involves the flow of carbon in the Earth
system including the atmosphere and in living things. The water
and carbon cycle are interconnected through the process of
evapotranspiration as rain water is absorbed by plants to
manufacture foods and take carbon from the atmosphere, water
is released into the atmosphere as a by-product which forms
rain and the process repeats. The two earth cycles caused
catastrophic mudslides and floods in Gansu Province and it
caused high fatalities and destruction of property. According to
geologists, the catastrophe was mainly caused by human
activities which led to depletion of natural forest which played
a major role in controlling water flow in the area. A lot of soil
had been exposed to rainfall which made the area vulnerable to
floods and mudslides.
Section 2
Increased human activity in the area is likely to increase
vulnerability to similar catastrophes in future. The construction
of a hydroelectric power project in Gansu and the depletion of
vegetation heavily contributed to the catastrophe. After the
catastrophe, the Chinese government was faced with a tough
decision whether to close the town and relocate or retain it.
Both ways the options were likely to affect families and
individuals who have called it home and the fate of decades of
infrastructure investments was uncertain. The town maintained
its location but was depopulated to avoid excess human activity
that would make the area vulnerable to catastrophes.
Section 3
The fast disappearing forest cover in the area was to be blamed
for the floods and the mudslides experienced. The precipitation
rates in the province are low which led to uncontrolled rainfall
leading to the floods. The construction of hydroelectric power
dam in Bailong River may have caused the catastrophe due to
increased evaporation leading to increased rainfall on land with
less vegetation cover. And the disaster will not make people
leave them home where they leave. Most people choose leave in
the disaster zone will cause economic losses, because the human
will drive the economy. In the same time the population will
hurt more people.
Mile stone 3
Sec1, the government old plan. Currentplan
Plan the tree.
Sec2 sescribe current plan. And diadvantage
plan the tree to change the enveriment to reduce the CO2, to
keep the climate is smooth. Reduce the rainfall capacity. The
government also establish less tunneling was passed under the
mudslide. They hope when the disaster coming the tunneling
can works.
Section3 my plan,and detile
we can increase the drainage capacity of buildings such as
Bridges to change the mudslide direction. Make the flow of
debris flow smoothly by design direction. Also need have
people regularly to check the safety and ease of the bridge. In
the use some terrain advantage to adopt the blocking measures,
to control the mudslide discharge. And then surveying the
mudslide to divert floodwaters out to the river.
plant tree is change the environment to reduce the mudslide
happen.
That plan disadvantage are we need use to more people be
attend in that plan. Also that plan just can reduce the mudslide
damage, can not prevent a case.
And we also need to keep the plan the tree to keep the climate.
As will as reduce exhaust gas emission.
section4 audience, approver
my plan is for the general public to save them life. Minimize the
damage in the disaster. Also for the government , and qualified
engineers to help me to realize the plan .

The water and carbon cycle are interconnected through the process of evapotranspiration as rain water is absorbed by plants to manufacture foods and take carbon from the atmosphere, water is released into the atmosphere as a by-product which forms rain and the process repeats. The two earth cycles caused catastrophic mudslides and floods in Gansu Province and it caused high fatalities and destruction of property. According to geologists, the catastrophe was mainly caused by human activities which led to depletion of natural forest which played a major role in controlling water flow in the area. A lot of soil had been exposed to rainfall which made the area vulnerable to floods and mudslides. Section 2 Increased human activity in the area is likely to increase vulnerability to similar catastrophes in future. The construction of a hydroelectric power project in Gansu and the depletion of vegetation heavily contributed to the catastrophe. After the catastrophe, the Chinese government was faced with a tough decision whether to close the town and relocate or retain it. Both ways the options were likely to affect families and individuals who have called it home and the fate of decades of infrastructure investments was uncertain. The town maintained its location but was depopulated to avoid excess human activity that would make the area vulnerable to catastrophes. Section 3 The fast disappearing forest cover in the area was to be blamed for the floods and the mudslides experienced. The precipitation rates in the province are low which led to uncontrolled rainfall leading to the floods. The construction of hydroelectric power dam in Bailong River may have caused the catastrophe due to increased evaporation leading to increased rainfall on land with less vegetation cover. And the disaster will not make people leave them home where they leave. Most people choose leave in
  • 4. the disaster zone will cause economic losses, because the human will drive the economy. In the same time the population will hurt more people. Mile stone 3 Sec1, the government old plan. Currentplan Plan the tree. Sec2 sescribe current plan. And diadvantage plan the tree to change the enveriment to reduce the CO2, to keep the climate is smooth. Reduce the rainfall capacity. The government also establish less tunneling was passed under the mudslide. They hope when the disaster coming the tunneling can works. Section3 my plan, and detile we can increase the drainage capacity of buildings such as Bridges to change the mudslide direction. Make the flow of debris flow smoothly by design direction. Also need have people regularly to check the safety and ease of the bridge. In the use some terrain advantage to adopt the blocking measures, to control the mudslide discharge. And then surveying the mudslide to divert floodwaters out to the river. plant tree is change the environment to reduce the mudslide happen. That plan disadvantage are we need use to more people be attend in that plan. Also that plan just can reduce the mudslide damage, can not prevent a case. And we also need to keep the plan the tree to keep the climate. As will as reduce exhaust gas emission. section4 audience, approver my plan is for the general public to save them life. Minimize the damage in the disaster. Also for the government , and qualified engineers to help me to realize the plan .
