This document discusses innovative promotion techniques used for EuroBasket 2013 in Slovenia to attract tourism. Some key techniques included holding the official tournament draw in Postojna Cave, the first time a sporting event draw was held underground; organizing a basketball tournament on the sea in Koper; allowing fans to become professional players for a day through a photo competition; and using the official mascot Lipko in promotional videos and appearances skydiving and playing basketball in extreme locations to generate publicity. The EuroBasket tournament was estimated to bring over 30,000 tourists to Slovenia and provide over €0.5 million in financial benefits to the organizer.
