Projects may be carried out by both individuals and within groups. The outputs might include a report, presentation, poster, artefact or prototype (physical or digital). Project based learning is “a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an engaging and complex question, problem, or challenge.” (BIE 2015).
When undertaking a project, seven distinct stages have been identified that the project owner(s) go through. These are: the question, plan, research, produce, improve, present and evaluate. At each stage students may engage in a variety of activities. This multifaceted form of learning presents opportunities to participate in authentic and meaningful problems and to develop a range of skills along the journey. Reflecting upon these experiences, can encourage students to reconstruct what they have learned, and go on to confidently articulate the skills they have developed (or have yet to develop), and how they can apply these in other situations. Learning how to self-reflect on these experiences and developing a habit of doing so, can have a profound impact on learning. However for some this does not come easily and is often undervalued.
In my talk I will share the Project Based Learning (PjBL) Toolkit and how resources within this can be used to scaffold effective and meaningful multimedia reflective practice, develop confident communication skills and digital capabilities.

Multidisciplinary teaching is a contemporary education strategy implemented by various tertiary institutions to stimulate students’ critical thinking, develop inter-disciplinary understanding, and enhance students’ problem solving skills. In this presentation, Dr Saad Odeh and Dr Muhammad Qureshi summarise the steps taken, as well as findings from a pilot study that investigated the development and implementation of a combined assignment from two first year units in the Engineering curriculum: “Foundation Mathematics” and “Introduction to Programming”.
The suggested assignment aimed to help students understand the link between these two disciplines. Case studies from the mechanical and civil engineering industry were selected to develop the pilot assignments. The mathematical rules applied in this assignment were introduced in brief in the assignment information sheet to give students guidelines to carry out further online research. The preliminary statistical results show improvement in students’ multi-disciplinary knowledge in the different units and enhancement in their industrial experience.

The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Nowadays, we should promote collaborative learning and team work.
In general, educators try to develop social skills, personal initiative
and autonomy in Learning Service Based-Projects but they don´t
work in the class to develop those skills systematically.
GOALS:
1) Try to promote technology as part of our daily lesson plan.
2) Try to make teachers be aware that they need to be
updated, because they´re working with digital native learners.
Technology enriches learning and it helps teachers.
3) Try to promote professional development informing that
nowadays is free and how educators can access to it.
4) Try to share our expertise and experiences with the ones
who are interested in them.
3. First Reflection
• The idea is to make educators change their role to
moderators and guides and to convince them to
implement another model that may be the Flipped
Classroom, or the one they choose which will make
them feel more comfortable to achieve the Project
Goals.
• All the teachers in my country have access to a
computer but from my point of view they don´t
incorporate new tools and they don´t want to do
profesional development if they don´t receive
something in return.

4. SWOT ANALYSIS
Inner stage:Strenghs.
• Enough technology resources in the country.
• The majority of the students have acces to their own devices and others
from the public schools have the ones the government provides them.
Inner stage : Weaknesses
• Lack of motivation and lack of personal initiative to do profesional
development.
• Unfortunately, in general, the human being don´t try to do things if they
don´t get something in return.
• Perhaps there should be a special recognition to the ones who are
always innovating and promoting creativity, critical thinkers and
autonomy.
5. • Lack of a short or medium term plan to implement a change in the
technology area to try to promote teachers to insert technology as part of
their daily lesson plans. We should teach COMPUTER SCIENCE.
• Try to make educators change their role, leaving behind the traditional
model and becoming moderators and guides with the purpose of making
the students be the main protagonists and the own makers of their
knowledge.
• The governments should implement a system. It should ask educators to
do profesional development every year, and at least to learn two tools and
show evidence of them.
6. SWOT ANALYSIS
Outer Stage: Opportunities
• Some educative institutions promote staff to do professional
development to the ones who want to, giving them some money.
Unfortunately this only happens in some private schools.
• Also the majority of the schools offer professional development
inservices once per semester or in annual daily conferences. Besides
there are meetings among private schools or public schools exchanging
ideas or projects but they´re not very frequent. Sometimes there´s a
divorce between the private and public education.
Outer Stage:Threatens
• Staff members or unions ask something in return.
Based on this analysis my previous plan was modified.
Then, I decided to change the title and call my project Technology should be
part of our daily lesson plan.
7. Plan, Stage 1
(objectives, look for support, plan the project)
• Objective 1. : Integrate the technology to all the educative areas.
• Objective 2: Adjust the plan to the new educative paradigms. Leave the
traditional class model where the teacher is the main protagonist to the
Flipped Classroom Model where the student is the maker of his own
knowledge and the teacher is only a moderator and guide.
• Objective 3: Get supported from: Administrators, teachers, families.
• Objective 4: Estimated plan: one or two years.
A) First year: three stages, each one should take three quarters.
B) Second year: staff professional development ( they should incorporate
and use more technology tools and change the traditional class model to Flipped
Classroom Model or other. Receive free online professional development. Each
one will choose after doing some courses which tool they will choose. All should
receive the same preparation. Update the staff with Microsoft 10
and Microsoft Office 365.
8. Plan, Stage II (implementation, monitoring of
the project, adjustments, calendar.)
• Motivation: Send or show the staff selected videos who will make
them reflect about the need of a change and to adjust to the XXI
Century Goals Paradigms. Set two or three meetings to exchange
ideas and debate about them. Later tell them what the authorities or
administrators want from them.
• Three months of profesional development by themselves and one to
share what they ´ve learned and informing them how they can do it

dissemination of it)
• Do assemblies, open classes, school fairs where the students show
their learning projects. Exchange with other schools or/and upload
them to the network.
• Register the complete project in a graphic way including all the steps.
• Public your profesional blogs in a public way to share with other
teachers around the world. Exchange experiences with other schools,
teach others
• Use twitter, linkedin or the social network you feel more comfortable to
share with others.
• Try to be part of learning communities. Show examples. Teach
teachers how to use twitter or other social networks.
• Keep in mind we live in a world without frontiers and you can help
others and learn form others.
