The MEVIC project aims to develop a simulation platform to reliably determine the clinical performance of medical imaging systems. The platform will simulate the entire medical imaging chain from image generation through processing and visualization. This will allow tuning of medical devices based on human perception of clinically relevant tasks. The simulation framework will be applied to domains like mammography, nuclear medicine, and CT. It seeks to solve challenges in quantifying and optimizing clinical performance by simulating realistic medical images and devices without costly clinical trials. Comparing simulations to real studies will validate the accuracy of the developed algorithms and models. This will result in higher quality medical products and improved, more efficient healthcare.
