They are regulated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India and must be registered as a Category 1 Merchant Banker. This allows them to undertake activities like issue management, advising, underwriting, and portfolio management. They must have a minimum capital of Rs. 5 crores and pay fees of 2.5 lakhs for the first two cases and 1.5 lakhs for the third case.
