MELCHISEDEC
He is not Jesus Christ, he was like Jesus Christ
(Heb 7:3) Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of
life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
He was a double king Righteousness first and peace second
(Heb 7:2) To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of
righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
He either had no human mother and father or had none listed by genealogy
(Heb 7:3) Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of
life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
He was not a descendant of Abram, Isaac, and Jacob
(Heb 7:4-6) Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth
of the spoils.
5) And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a
commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they
come out of the loins of Abraham:
6) But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had
the promises.
He is a Shemite or Hamite
Heb. 7:4-6
He speaks and acts like a Shemite
(Heb 7:1-2) For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning
from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
2) To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness,
and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
(Heb 7:5-12) And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a
commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they
come out of the loins of Abraham:
6) But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had
the promises.
7) And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
8) And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he
liveth.
9) And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.
10) For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
11) If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,)
what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be
called after the order of Aaron?
12) For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
He anticipates the Lord’s Supper
(Gen 14:18) And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the
most high God.
He had the power to bless
(Gen 14:19) And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven
and earth:
Jesus was King of Righteousness @ his first coming
(Rev 20:1-7) And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great
chain in his hand.
2) And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a
thousand years,
3) And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive
the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little
season.
4) And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls
of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not
worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their
hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5) But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first
resurrection.
6) Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no
power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
7) And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
No peace till Christ returns
(Matt 24:6-7) And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these
things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7) For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and
pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
No peace on earth or good will to men till God gets glory in the highest
(Luke 2:14) Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
The two Advents:
Old Testament Jew confounds the advents by rejecting the first one. The New Testament Gentile
confounds them by rejecting the second one. The Jew works to earn righteousness without Christ’s
first coming, and the Gentile works to bring in peace without the second coming.
(Rom 11:25-33) For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be
wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles
be come in.
26) And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and
shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27) For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
28) As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are
beloved for the fathers' sakes.
29) For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
30) For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
31) Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
32) For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
33) O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his
judgments, and his ways past finding out!
Melchizedek is King of Righteousness before king of Peace. This teaches a
premillennial Bible layout:
Truth precedes peace.
(Zech 8:16) These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute
the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:
Purity precedes peace.
(Jas 3:17) But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be
intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
Righteousness precedes peace.
(1Thess 5:1-6) But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2) For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3) For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail
upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4) But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5) Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6) Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
No nation can have peace because the Bible requires Righteousness as Gods
prerequisite to peace.
Melchizedeck cannot be Christ in the flesh, nor can he be a man who is still living.
(Heb 7:3) Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of
life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
If he is an Angle of the Lord he does a peculiar thing in accepting tithes.
(Judg 13:16) And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Though thou detain me, I will not eat of thy
bread: and if thou wilt offer a burnt offering, thou must offer it unto the LORD. For Manoah knew not
that he was an angel of the LORD.
One possibility could be Shem, Noah’s son. At the time Melchizedek shows up in
Gen. 14 Shem is still around.
Priest of the most high God:
(Gen 9:26) And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
Grater than Abram Heb. 7:4
What human being could be grater than a man who was given the land of
Palestine, whom God blessed through successive generations, who was divinely
protected from all enemies, who would bless all nations on earth, and who was
given an eternal possession on earth? Shem.
Without father, without mother, without decent:
If Melchizedek is a human he has a father and mother and descent. Shem’s father
is listed (Noah), and his descent is listed in Gen. 5:1-29.
Abideth a priest continually:
The statements in Heb. 7:3 may refer to the fact that there is no genealogy in the
priesthood. “But he whose descent is no counted from them…” (Levi) Heb. 7:5-7
(Heb 7:5-7) And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a
commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they
come out of the loins of Abraham:
6) But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had
the promises.
7) And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
