Mediterranean cuisine originated from cultures surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. Though diverse, the region shares common elements due to climate and trade, including plant-based diets featuring olive oil, fruits/vegetables, legumes, fish, and grains. The cuisine developed over millennia and was popularized in the 20th century for its health benefits like low saturated fat and high fiber content. Key ingredients include olive oil, tomatoes, eggplant, chickpeas, couscous, broccoli rabe, hazelnuts, and shrimp.
Fishery -all the activities connected with the securing of animal and vegetable products from the earth waters.
Fishery products include such items as fish, clams, oysters, lobsters, eels, shrimps, turtles, seals, and whales. Pearl sponges, coral shells, and seaweeds are also included among the products derived from the sea. Fish provides the protein which is needed in the human diet. Fisheries are perhaps the most poorly managed of all the natural resources. The unscientific assumption that man can never exhaust the resources of the sea has placed upon nature the entire responsibility for renewal and replenishment.
Generally, a fishery is an entity engaged in raising or harvesting fish which is determined by some authority to be a fishery. According to the FAO, "...a fishery is an activity leading to harvesting of fish. It may involve capture of wild fish or raising of fish through aquaculture.

Understanding the Mediterranean Diet and the Mediterranean Coast Cuisine.pdfhow2stayyoung
Mediterranean diet and the Mediterranean coast cuisine - In this post, we'll explore the rich tapestry of flavors, ingredients, and dishes that define Mediterranean coast cuisine and its integral connection to the Mediterranean Diet.
Mediterranean Traditional Medicine An Overviewijtsrd
Traditional diets are the old ways of eating. They are a delicious and pleasant roadmap to healthy eating and happy living. he Mediterranean diet has been characterized as the gold standard of diets. It refers to eating in the manner that the people in the Mediterranean nations such as Albania, Greece, Italy, France, Greece, Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Italy, Morocco, and Spain traditionally ate. It is a lifestyle approach to eating rooted in a centuries old tradition of using fresh, high quality ingredients. This paper provides an introduction to Mediterranean herbs or diet. Matthew N. O. May is International Mediterranean Diet Month, a chance to focus attention on one of the world's healthiest—and most delicious—diets. Since the February 2103 publication of a major clinical trial showing a 30% risk reduction for heart attacks and strokes with the Mediterranean Diet, this topic has been especially hot. Use the resources below to educate consumers about foods that are part of the Med Diet, and help them establish healthy, long-lasting eating habits—not just in May but throughout the year.

The diets common to some cultures emphasize meat. Meat, milk, and bread, but few fruits and
vegetables, might be a typical meal for populations in northern latitudes and in desert areas, for
example. What ecological factors seem relevant in explaining this human habit?
Solution
Various studies have shown that populations living in northern latitude and desert areas have
dietary patterns higher in animal fat such as meat and dairy products compared to those living in
southern latitudes who thrive majorly on fruits and vegetables. This may be because land in
northern and desert areas had been less fertile to grow seasonal vegeies, due to extremes of
environment and limited rainfalls. People living in these areas over generations have been mostly
hunter-gatherers. Such societies had depended for their economic survival primarily on hunting,
gathering (wild vegetable and fruits and small land fauna), and fishing. Thus they might have
developed the food habit of increased meat and milk consumption (as they are largely dependent
on herd of cattle/animals) along with staple diet of breads, over the generations.
On the other hand, southern populations residing on more fertile pieces of land relish a
vegetarian diet consisting of fresh fruits and vegetables. They are richer in biodiversity due to
moderate climates and rainfall distribution throughtout the year. These populations are typically
farmers, food growers over several generations and have developed food habits of vegetarian
diets..

Best 10 Economic Importance Of Aquaculture
Aquaculture
Fisheries and aquaculture make a big contribution to development in the areas of employment. Describing the importance of aquaculture is not an easy task. According to M. Shahbandeh, the number of people who were engaged in fishing and aquaculture amounted to around 40.34 million and 19.27 million respectively worldwide in 2016 and the number has been increasing day by day since 1995. The vast majority of them are from developing countries, working in fish production or fish raising, fish processing, harvesting, and small-scale fish business.

Aquaculture
Aquaculture is the controlled process of rearing, breeding and harvesting of aquatic species, both animals and plants, especially for human consumption, though it is controlled aquatic environments like the oceans, lakes, rivers, ponds, and streams. It’s a similar conception to agriculture, but with fish instead of plants or livestock. It also serves various functions such as food production, restoration of threatened and endangered species populations, wild stock population enhancement, the building of aquariums, and fish cultures, and habitat restoration.
History of Aquaculture
The husbandry of fish is therefore not a new phenomenon. Ancient practices based on the modifications of natural bodies of water or wetlands to entrap young fish in enclosures until harvest have just evolved into more systematic and scientific methods and techniques.
Aquaculture has a long tradition, which is about 4 000 years, and form the beginning of the time man identified the importance of aquaculture.. Probably aquaculture began in China before very long ago, due to the wants of an emperor to have an unremitting supply of fish in his land. It is supposed that the proficiencies for keeping fish in ponds originated in China with fishermen who kept their extra catch alive temporarily in baskets submerged in rivers or small bodies of water created by damming one side of a river bed.(Ling, S.W,Aquaculture in Southeast Asia: A Historical Overview,A Washington Sea Grant Publication).
Another theory is that aquaculture arose from ancient practices for pinning down fish, with the operations steadily improving from trapping-holding to trapping-holding-growing, and finally into complete agriculture or farming practices.
Methods of Aquaculture
The methods of aquaculture’s farm-to-table process can differ from species to species. Generally, there are four stages of the production chain, starting in hatcheries and ending at the seafood counter in your grocery store. Four stages are:

Each of these stages may vary concerning its effect on the environment and the quality and safety of the seafood they produce.
The first stage in the aquaculture production chain is the hatchery. This is where the breeding of fish, hatch
2. INTRODUCTION
Mediterranean cuisine is the food from the
cultures adjacent to the Mediterranean Sea.
Although this region spans a wide variety of
cultures, the historical connections of the
region, as well as the impact of the
Mediterranean Sea on the region's climate and
economy, have led to there being many
common elements in the foods..
3. The Mediterranean countries include France,
Spain, Italy, Greece, and Portugal along the
north; Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, and Israel on the
east; and the African countries of Egypt, Libya,
Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia on the south.
Mediterranean cuisine is plant-based. The
majority of the foods in a Mediterranean diet
come from plants.
Key ingredients of Mediterranean cuisine
include olive oil, fresh fruits and vegetables,
protein-rich legumes, fish and whole grains with
moderate amounts of wine and red meat.
4. HISTORY
The varied cuisines of the Mediterranean have
developed over the millennia, with notable
regional changes happening with the introduction
of New World foods starting in the 16th century.
The concept of a Mediterranean cuisine, however,
is very recent. Although it was first publicized in
1945 by the American doctor Ancel Keys
stationed in Salerno, Italy, the Mediterranean diet
failed to gain widespread recognition until the
1990s.
5. Mediterranean diet is based on what from the point of view
of mainstream nutrition is considered a paradox: that
although the people living in Mediterranean countries tend
to consume relatively high amounts of fat, they have far
lower rates of cardiovascular disease than in countries like
the United States, where similar levels of fat consumption
are found.
A number of diets have received attention, but the strongest
evidence for a beneficial health effect and decreased
mortality after switching to a largely plant based diet comes
from studies of Mediterranean diet, e.g. from the NIH-AARP
Diet and Health Study.
6. The Mediterranean diet often is cited as beneficial
for being low in saturated fat and high in
monounsaturated fat and dietary fiber. One of the
main explanations is thought to be the health effects
of olive oil included in the Mediterranean diet.
The Mediterranean diet is high in salt content.Foods
such as olives, salt-cured cheeses, anchovies,
capers, salted fish roe, and salads dressed with extra
virgin olive oil all contain high levels of salt.
8. The Mediterranean Region (also known as
the Mediterranean Basin or sometimes Mediterranea) is
the region of lands around the Mediterranean Sea that
have a Mediterranean climate, with mild,
rainy winters and hot, dry summers, which supports
characteristic Mediterranean forests, woodlands, and
scrub vegetation.
As a rule of thumb, the Mediterranean Basin is the Old
World region where olive trees grow. However olive trees
grow in other corners of the world which have a
Mediterranean climate, and there are many areas around
the Mediterranean Sea which do not have a Mediterranean
climate and where olive trees cannot grow.
9. Wheat is the dominant grain grown around the
Mediterranean Basin. Pulses and vegetables are also
grown.
The characteristic tree crop is the olive.
Figs are another important fruit tree, and citrus,
especially lemons, are grown where irrigation is
present.
Grapes are an important vine crop, grown for fruit
and to make wine.
Rice and summer vegetables are grown in irrigated
areas.
