2. INTRODUCTION
• Sometimes patients forget to take the medicine at the required time of medicines.
• Also forgets which medicine He/ She have to take at required time.
• To overcome this, we have tried to design the MEDICINE REMINDER
• We are using Arduino to interface the LCD module, buzzer, Real time clock (RTC)

4. PROBLEM DEFINITION
• Majority of patients forget to take medicine as it is prescribed.
• Its difficult task for the physician is to attempt to open the eyes of patients to take
medicine at right time.

8. SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION
• Arduino is used for controlling the whole system.
• In this system ds1307 real time clock chip is used for running the time accurate
• Real time clock is a digital clock which display real time on 16x2 LCD display
• To prevent the time after light failure by using 3 volt li-on battery connected with
this real time clock chip at pin number 3.
• SDA and SCK pin of real time clock chip is directly connected
with SDA and SCK pin of Arduino (A5 and A4) respectively.
• Address and data are transferred serially through an I²C, bidirectional bus.

9. ARDUINO
• Arduino is an open source computer hardware and software single-board
microcontrollers and microcontroller kits for building digital devices.
• The boards are equipped with sets of digital and analog input/output (I/O) pins
that may be interfaced to various expansion boards and other circuits.
• The boards feature serial communications interfaces, including Universal Serial
Bus (USB) on some models, which are also used for loading programs from
personal computers

12. DS1307 REAL TIME CLOCK
• Real time clock is a digital clock which display real time on 16x2 LCD
display.
• The DS1307 serial real-time clock (RTC) is a low-power, full binary-
coded decimal (BCD) clock/calendar plus 56 bytes of NV SRAM.
• Address and data are transferred serially through an I²C, bidirectional
bus.
• The DS1307 has a built-in power-sense circuit that detects power
failures and automatically switches to the backup supply.

14. 16X2 LCD DISPLAY
• A 16x2 LCD display is very basic module and is very commonly used in various
devices and circuits.
• A 16x2 LCD means it can display 16 characters per line and there are 2 such lines.
• In this LCD each character is displayed in 5x7 pixel matrix. This LCD has two
registers, namely, Command and Data.
• The command register stores the command instructions given to the LCD

• A buzzer or beeper is an audio signalling device, which may
be mechanical, electromechanical, or piezoelectric

• The medicine reminder will be very helpful to many patients
• It helps to take proper medicine at right time
• The cost of production is low as compared to other problem solutions
